Our 4th visit to Kefalonia and still amazes! The `Jennys` is not recommended though this was our 2nd stay there. We could not find anything else available in our price range. Tony the owner is a likeable `rogue` and will try to talk you into all kinds of add-ons. 10 euros to use a safety deposit box, an extra 5 euros per night for air-con. If you leave for a late flight he will give you the use of a spare room IF YOU PAY HIM 10 euros for the cleaner (who he pays 4 euros). He now has completed the building of his `OZZIE` bar/cafe next door. Wonderful views of sunsets etc but very pricey! Below this he has a supermarket and wo betide anyone staying at the `JENNYS` who shop accross the road at the `DOLPHIN` supermarket. He sees you go and awaits your return screaming " don`t shop there, I have supermarket also, buy from me!" The only trouble is he does not stock a full range and his prices are 20% higher than "DOLPHIN".
The apartments are basically one room with a wc/shower off them. VERY BASIC INDEED and dirty, though linen is changed once per week. We had to brush around and UNDER the beds. Also you need to purchase BAYGONE cockroach spray at 6.20 euros. Spray around the door entrance and window sills every evening before you go to dine or you will be infested by these big black insects....be warned.
Every Friday he does a BBQ for 16 euros per head, eat as much as you want! However anywhere else in Lassi you can get wonderful meals for around 9 euros per head and get a free METAXA brandy given to you.
Best food tavernas are DA VERONICA, TRATA, MYSTIC GUSTO, HOUSE RESTAURANT and ZORBAS. All truly warm, friendly and great food. Some great bars are TRENTIS, SO SIMPLE, EXCLUSIVE BAR and ODYSSEY run by an English couple, Nicola and Steve,(Steve is well known from his stint at THE OLIVE PRESS from many years ago and now that establishment has new owners and is called MYSTIC GUSTO...brilliant for a full english brekkie at 6 euros...2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 eggs, beans, toast, orange juice, slices of cake, tea or coffee and buter and jam!)
Great free pool is at the MALIBU....you will have fun finding it and they have a bar if want to use it run by Helen. The beaches are magnificent also. Argostoli the capital is awesome at night when the kiddies come out to play in the square (Platia) til midnight! 6 euros in a taxi will get you there. Also try the ferry to Lixouri accros the bay...lovely and laid-back. Lots to do and see on this wonderful and we will be going back BUT NOT TO `JENNYS`. 10/10 for the island and 5/10 for the Jennys Studios!

Wonderful, truly wonderful island, a really beautiful Greek jewel. The island has scenic views and fantastic beaches meaning something for everyone! It has gone a little pricey since the introduction of the `euro`....but where hasn`t? Our 4th visit to the island and highly recommended. We are in our early sixties now but we still can get around easily enough. Yes, some of the accomodations in Lassi are situated up the hillside overlooking the main street aka `Lassis Road`but none too bad of a climb. Just check with your tour operator for the exact location because you can find some places to stay that are NOT up the hillside.
We always stay in Lassi and it is the busiest resort in Kefalonia. A short taxi ride of a mile takes you into the capital town of Argostoli which is built around the sea-front. Seeing that the 1953 earthquake `flattened` most of this beautiful island, they have done a truly remarkable job to rebuild in just 55 years!
The locals are SO friendly and kind. The food is great, the weather is hot, the beaches are clean and you can be laid back or adventurous....which ever you please! You can take a ferry boat for around 2 euros accross the bay to Lixouri and see how calm the water is. Look for the logger-head turtles in Argostoli Bay near to the `Rock Cafe`...a lovely laid back taverna where the locals sit and watch the boats bobbing on the water.
Why not hire hire a car for a couple of days and explore the rest of the island, it really has got magnificent views....don`t forget your cam-corder to video with.
All in all we give this island (especially Lassi) a mark of TEN out ten...yes it`s that good!
