Duman Hotel

After a long flight from America to England then to Turkey, coach journey to the hotel me and my wife were tired and looking forward to relaxing in our hotel room, after checking in we made our way to the room, my wife was desperate to use the toilet after such a grueling trip, when she entered the bathroom she was horrified to see the hotel manager sitting on the toilet reading a newspaper. My wife jumped out of her skin as he apologized, flushed the chain and ran off leaving the toilet in a disgusting condition.
The Following night my wife decided she'd like to look at the stars from our balcony and watch the moon go down over the mountains in the background, as she stood there relaxing all of a sudden there was an almighty splash in the pool infront of her, it was the hotel owner again, naked and swimming in the pool at 2 in the morning. After seeing his bare buttocks for the 2nd time on this holiday we decided enough is enough and flew home and plan never to step foot on Turkish soil again!

this hotel is as bad as all the reviews say trust me.i stayed here for 2 weeks and although all the reviews are true we had a great time ,the lads behined the bar are a good laugh if not well trained .I had a row with the manager and owner after they turned the aircon off after five days sayin we had only paid for a week {i thought a week was 7 days lol}but when they realised they was wrong they sorted it out and no more problems,well apart from my sons dripping on him in bed after constantly been fixed.after the aircon row the moody owner was a pleasent enough bloke and his english seemed to go very fluent.dont do the trips offered by the rep if ur british ,its just 1 of the local tour firms so go seek out a better deal for urself there is loads of them and to be honest she isnt the best rep in the world.watch the cleaners with any cash in your room my sons girlfriend had 50 lira lifted out her pocket and we had £27 pound lifted out a bag wich was only left out on our last day so i guess they take their own tips coz u cant prove nothing.all in all only stay here if you get a really good deal and dont expect to much, we paid £1000.00 for 4 of us for two weeks so cant really complain.the only real gripe was the aircon row wich did come close to fists flying.but apart from that we got wot we payed for ,a cheap room in a great location.

anybody thats already booked...change it if its possible,this was our first holiday to turkey..and will be the last...thanks to the duman hotel,and the staff that work their..its dated beyond belief..falling apart..rooms dirty..we saw helltinkum not altinkum.no-one should be booked into this hotel ever again..we came home a week early at our own expence..and now need another holiday.but not in turkey..

We arrived at the "hotel" at 5am apprehensive at what we had read on these reviews. unfortunately they were all correct. The hotel was old and tired, the management were unfriendly and aggressive, there were so many faults with the room that I cold not list them all but here are a few. The shower was either cold or dangerously hot, the fridge did not work( this was ok as you were not allowed food or drink in the room) ???, towels and linen not changed, no plug in the basin, hot and clod taps on reverse. These are just a few of the many many faults we found . We did not see or hear from the rep until the day we were leaving, no meeting or timetable when she would be available,this was apparently our fault as we only booked the day before we left,and were told that as we had not complained to her earlier we were too late to get a complaints form. She then said that the only thing people did was moan(I wonder why). All in all a terrible hotel, terrible management and a terrible holiday company. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL unless you want the"Midnight Express" experience.

My wife and I booked our holiday last minute and went home, logged on the net to find reviews of the Duman. I wish we hadn't because it got to the point that my wife was distraught at the thought of the holiday - one negative review after another.
The truth is, its not the best hotel in the world - although potentially it could be really nice with a bit of investment. However we had an absolutely brilliant holiday - one of the best we've ever had. The staff were really friendly if you were friendly to them - even the manager was coming out of his shell by the end of our week. OK the room was in need of decoration but we had a comfortable bed and it was clean enough. And if we needed anything (toilet rolls etc) we asked and we got without problem.
The breakfast was a typical Turkish breakfast and you got everything associated with it.
The location is terrific - away from the bustling Dolphin Square but with loads of excellent resaurants ad bars close by. You could also walk to the superb beach in 5 minutes.
Please don't believe everything you read on this site - make your mind up and remember that if you are paying a budget price you will get a budget hotel so don't go expecting 5 star luxury!!!!!

this hotel must be closed immediately.I think anyone who has been there will know what i mean. You have to see it to believe. To call the rooms dirty is a complete understatement, the whole place is an disaster area . Altinkum is lovely but the Duman must be closed for everyones sake. I dont have to say much more as it has all been covered in other reviews and not one person has had any lies to tell. Only point is one or two guests mentioned a rep all I can say is WHAT REP? For one whole week we couldnt find her.This HOTEL ? is listed as 3 star##= I would no t even give it MINUS THREE.

Firstly, If zero out of ten was an option then i would have given that instead!
~Manager and staff most unhelpful
~My bag was searched for food and drinks.
~My room was searched by a smoker who left his cigerette smouldering in my ash tray, which seemed to highly amuse the manager when I complained. Even my daughter who had bottles of water for her children (3 of them all under 2years) were taken from her room, when children were not catered for at all here so she had no other option.
~Needed to buy our own milk for coffee in the morning.
~Shower, sink, glass and fridge were all dirty, TV dusty.
~Beds and towels not changed.
~Cockroach in hallway...dead...not removed throughout the entire week.
~Staff found our passport photographs highly amusing and did not attempt to hide their laughter upon looking at them..while we were there.
~The plaster from the wall decoration were falling onto the bed, carpet was also filthy.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Which is very disappointing as the hotel looked very promising on paper and online, what a pitty...the destination had such nice surroundings and a lovely culture.

Moved to Kuzmez from Duman at our own expense. What a contrast!! pleasant and eager staff, clean rooms, air con that works. There is no comparison to the DUMAN i will be going again next year the waiters are exceptional and the food is well cooked and tasty. It goes to show that you can make a good hotel great with the right staff and attitude.

This hotel has the potential to be a good hotel, but at the moment it needs avoiding. Most of the rooms are in a bad state of repair. and the cleaning regime is basic at best. The manager seems to prefer the company of his family and friends. The guests appear to be an inconvenience rather than the reason he is employed. Goldtrail have a policy of not changing hotels if the one you booked is inadequate. So don't expect to be moved if you have booked with them. The best route is to move and claim later which is what I intend to do. The reps have very little say in the matter so don't expect them to be able to help much. I must stress that it is not their fault and the job is a thankless one. Be gentle with them. Altinkum and the area around it is lovely with plenty to do and see, if you get up and go do it. You can go down to the busy bars but you can enjoy the real Turkey without travelling far if you want

Please say NO to this hotel....The reviews are all correct and it is as bad as they say...The front of the hotel and inside is fine just needs some time and effort put into it to make it a great hotel and surroundings and location is great. Once you get to your room then it's all down hill from there, couldn't quite get my head around a dirty worn carpet on the floor, a broken ancient shower that doesn't work properly, an old horrid mini fridge that needs throwing on the tip. We did take food and drink in the room but must have been lucky not to be spotted as others got stopped. Towels and bed linen were changed once on our one week stay. Breakfast was turkish breakfast but the owner would lay it out with a fag hanging from with mouth with fag ash and had to have a few tries to get a clean cup for a drink...no orange juice or water for the children. We found the outside and pool area fine and my son loved the pool but we sneakly had our own water and snacks only went there 2 days as spent the rest on the beach. The rooms need a full make-over and the owner needs to spend time. money and effort to make this a great hotel and learn a few manners. Would NOT stay here again look for better accomadation as loads to choose from even the locals when asked where we were staying and we said the Duman would pull a face as if to say ohh dear..poor you. Good luck if you have booked here as it's the worst place i have ever stayed...
