Elizabeth Apartments

We arrived in the middle of the night and were hit by the damp,musty smell before even switching on the lights!!! We'd paid extra for a 2 bed apartment but wish we'd saved our money. Kitchen was the main room with 2 bedrooms off this, with nowhere to sit, it was no better than a basic studio. The beds were damp and smelled of mould. As I have asthma, this caused a real problem. Later that day, we showered in the awful bathroom. Cheap, plastic vanity unit with a mirror complete with cigarette burns. No shower mat and strict instructions NOT TO PUT TOWELS ON THE FLOOR!!!!! My 5yr old son slipped over twice. This has been rated as a 3 * Plus by First Choice but we have stayed in a 2*, in Skiathos and Rhodes which were much nicer. Dust and cobwebs adorned the kitchen window. Rusty cooker. Cupboards not particularly clean. The gardens and pool here were spotless though, which was confusing. Owners NOT helpful when we complained. Asked the First Choice rep to move us to another apartment, I even said we would consider a studio, long as it was dry and airy. First Choice could not or would not help. We checked into the Silver Beach in Roda, which is a great place with really helpful owners. She showed us the room before we committed ourselves but it was comfortable and just what we wanted. Quite a few guests had done the same as us, so we had fun comparing horror stories!!! Got back to the UK and claimed my alternative accommodation arrangements back from First Choice, as I had completed a "Customer Complaint Form" with the rep before we left. You must have this, as you cannot claim anything without it. Shame, as we found Roda to be friendly, quiet and with excellent restaurants, competitively priced.
