It is very quiet and an ideal location for relaxation. The private swimming pool is so clean and maintained daily (at dawn) by Pedros, a local. The indoors is equally very well kept, by Maria (Pedros' wife). She cleans 3 times a week unless you ask her not to call.
There is one shop very close... which closes for a few hours in the afternoon for the owner to have his siesta. The shops sells some amenities like milk, coffee, tea, bread, etc. However I was a little put off by buying anything that wasn't pre-packaged as the owner sells a lot of dried smoked fish!! (it was all crispy and smelt bad!)
I would definitely recommend walking towards Sidari (15-20 mins walk) and you will find lots of well equipped mini-markets with lots of fresh fruit, vege, cheese, fresh bread, etc. The one thing that the mini markets failed to stock is meat (of any kind!!).
We had to visit the large supermarket, which is about a 35 min walk from the villa. You can, however, get a taxi back for peanuts.
If you want to dine out, you cannot fail if you walk into Sidari. There's something for everyone... English dishes, Mexican, Chinese, Indian and of course Greek. It seems that Greek salad is on the menu everywhere and they offer it to you as a side order at most places.
Sidari itself is very "touristy". It's nice to sit looking over the beach having a drink outside a taverna, but apart from that I wasn't overly impressed with the town. The shops all selled the same souvineers, the usual tacky things. The beaches do offer some watersports- hand gliding looked popular. They also hire pedalos and canoes.
At night, Sidari comes to life and the bars all fight for your custom. You can expect the usual staff stood outside trying to persuade you to come in.
The bustle and noise of Sidari at night is quite contrasting to the quiet peace you get at Villa Victoras. Its surprising that it's so close and yet you cannot here the noise even when sitting outside.
I loved the Villa so much and would definitely go back. In a perfect world I would lift the Villa and it's beach and place it 20 minutes away from a less touristy town, somewhere more sophisticated and cultured.
Go there anyway... I guarantee the charms of the villa will win you over. My advice? Take a car, and see the rest of the island. You won't regret a stay here.
