Hilton Hurghada Plaza Reviews
" This was our first winter holiday,... "

This was our first winter holiday, all inclusive and resort stay... this place is fantastic, the staff are excellent. If you want one of the other restaurants on the resort which is also included in the AI price then you do need to pre-book, which is not a problem, all the food was fantastic where ever we ate, even some of the room service menu is included in the AI with a delivery to room charge of 50p!! The down side is nothing to do with the hotel more to do with the rather excessively rude Russians that seem to take over the place at times, manners were not a strong point with the ones we met during our visit, whilst at the opposite end of the scale were the welcoming and very polite Egyptians. If you want a restful and relaxing break this is the place to go, at the same time there is plenty to do if you wish, we took a taxi to Luxor (4 hour trip) and spent the night there with a room over looking the Nile all this was arranged by the limosine company on site in the Hilton foyer for around £350 including our own guide, entrance to all the temples etc and our car/driver, a days diving was also booked on site at the resort as was a days boat hire complete with crew - It is worth upgrading the room, we had a corner de-lux room with a huge balcony which was lovely to sit out on in the evenings even though it was a little cool at times - Excellent hotel and resort.

We have just returned from our holiday in Egypt both my husband and I suffered from illness. I have spoken to quite a few people who have visited different parts of Egypt and they suffered the same complaint. So maybe it's not the hotel to blame although it is advisable to brush your teeth using bottled water.
The hotel is a 5 star but this is rated from the Egyptian ministry of tourism. So don't expect the same standard as other Hilton hotels in Europe or the U.S.A.
The rooms are in need of refurbishing disparately which at the moment they are in the middle of doing. So if you are wanting to go for a nice quite relaxing holiday - don't book this hotel!
The noise starts from early morning and proceeds through until 6 in the evening. We did complain about the noise the staff were very nice and moved us to a beach chalet.
The food was ok. In the buffet they had theme evenings however the food seemed to be the same no matter what theme it was. The best are the a la carte restaurants which you book 24 hrs in advance by the reception.
There are plenty of things to do although if you fancy a day on the beach get there early as there are not enough beds for the amount of people in the hotel.
Staff are quite friendly. The majority of hotel guests were Russian. So if you go to the disco expect to listen to Russian music.
When you walk out of the hotel there is nothing but poverty - personally if I was going back to Hurghada again I would choose a hotel in the 'New Town'. Here is a lovely long boulevard with bars, restaurants etc.

The hotel was lovely, very clean and lovely views from the rooms. Hurghada was a bit daunting at first with only 2 of us traveling (both girls, 28 & 22) but we ventured out into the town centre with an English family as the town was very busy and not many foreigners there. We were very surprised at how safe we felt as the resort is 85% Russian tourists, but the Egyptian people really like the English and so we traveled out of our hotel quite a few times on our own.
My advice is to set a price with the taxi before getting in and when in the town centre, just say 'no thank you' and carry on walking. We found that they left you alone and did not hassle you and again that was surprising to us being young women on our own. The haggling was fun even though I found it hard at first but towards the end of the holiday, I was a pro!
A lot of the trips were by the same company called Eastmar and they were fantastic. It was the best trip ever going to Cairo and also to Luxor. Snorkeling was fab as was the jeep safari in the desert. Our guide Saeed was excellent and came on all the trips so he really looked after us well. This was one of my best holidays and would highly recommend it, everything was perfect and I can't wait to go back!

" This is our third time to the Red Sea... "
Submitted By: Mrs M Gowing
This is our third time to the Red Sea region of Egypt (Taba and Sharm), it was a last minute break and we had little choice - Gatwick only flights (wanted Manchester), family room, half board with pool and beach facilities.
Booked over internet with Libra Travel (1st time) advised bed for children, half board available, very high class hotel, etc.
Firstly before we flew a telephone call to advise flight now leaving at 10:15 not 11:55 as per tickets, get to Gatwick to find two flights listed 10:15 and 11:55 and both now delayed to 12:00
Arrived in resort 29/10 to the first down pour in 7 years, the airport was leaking through the a/c units and the roads were not built for such a downpour.
First impressions were good, private entrance, large welcoming lobby.
At reception we were advised we could upgrade room for extra £7 per night to include fruit basket, slippers, robes, bottled water, larger room, which we agreed to. we were then shown a room with two large single beds - we had 2 adults and 2 children. On asking we were advised additional beds were being brought up for the children. 1 bed arrived and the two single beds were made up as a 7' bed. Later found out that two other families were given the same and they refused to accept and were upgraded to a same suite (two adjoining rooms with two beds in each). Fruit only delivered on day of arrival so £7 daily charge not worth it.
Food was good, no upset tummies, a lot of Russians in the hotel and it was a relief to meet other English people. Staff were very friendly on the whole.
Went on boat trip from splash, beware were they take you, coral reefs not fantastic, paradise/mahaya beach great - although transfer from boat to island in rib was worrying as it was sinking due to condition and frightening for the children and adults within, separate glass bottom boat ride to reef off Hilton was so-so. we were concerned with another boat, which was anchored on the reef, as we moved towards divers surfaced with about 15/20 tropical fish on a string, which had been caught (spear guns) and were being hauled on board. I had understood that this was illegal but as yet not sure.
I wouldn’t rush back, as we found the reefs better in Sharm and Taba, lionfish, etc within touching distance. The coral reef we saw in Hurghada was mostly discoloured.
The beach at the hotel was great for the kids but be early or the Russians are there first and all the beds along the shore are taken and with screens you are limited in being in constant sight of small children.

Cannot fault this hotel, where all the staff are always smiling and keen to help. The standard rooms are spacious with good bathroom facilities and the view from the balcony over the superb pool, gardens and hotel's own beach was beautiful. We did not opt for the available upgrade offered on arrival as it really wasn't necessary. All of the hotel was always spotlessly clean. We booked very last minute (2 days before!) but there were no hitches whatsoever.
The choice for breakfast was vast - both hot and cold buffet selections and the quality was good. The Italian restaurant was also good but we would recommend the a la carte menu rather than the dinner buffet.
The Libra rep was informative without being pushy and we would definitely recommend the excursions to Luxor and Mahmya Island (two totally different worlds and experiences). The Tour Guide for both trips was excellent - very informative and went out of his way to be helpful.
Eating out and shopping in Sekala was surprisingly cheap. The Egyptians seemed to love the English and were always welcoming. Tipping little and often seemed to be the way of things and was always appreciated. We would recommend all aspects of our holiday, and can't wait to go back.

Be careful of trips with Libra holidays -one to a beach-for snorkelling -fine if you were confident but the guide simply pointed out where lunch was and then left us to it -I wanted my 13 year old son to have some tuition/guidance. No safety measures taken either which was rather worrying 'Full buffet lunch'? More like a piece of dried chicken and dried up salad -awful, plus having to pay for drinks. Trip to Luxor- the guide was better -well informed although poor english made listening to him difficult. Lunch in a 5 star hotel as promised ?don't think so - a cafe by the side of Nile, no air conditioning and pretty poor food, plus paying for drinks. Be careful also of the stops along the way -they rob you -charging 15 egyptian pounds for small pack of biscuits. take snacks with you if you can. Most ridiculous prices at hurghada airport -125 egptian pounds (£12.50) for 2 juices, pringles and pack of biscuits -a joke.
