We found this pub by chance and can only consider the previous comment a mistake. The rooms were well furnished and styled with thought to the ambience of the building. Fantastic location with great food and excellent choice of beers.The full English breakfast set us up for the day.
Would recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit the area. Many thanks for a great stay.

The rooms are nicely decked out although very small and twee. It was difficult to get back into the hotel accomodation upstairs from the pub due to a strange punch number key. We were meant to have breakfast included, however there were no signs up saying what time and we were not told on arrival. The next morning, eager for our breakfast we went downstairs to find the landlady churlishly grinning whilst telling us that it was too late for breakfast and she wasn't going to make us any or offer a continental alternative. What an obnoxious and unfreindly woman! I will never stay in this establishment again or recommend it to anyone.

I agree entirely with the other 1 out of 10 reviewer. The proprietors appear to have no interest in their guests' comfort & respond to requests in an unhelpful manner.
The facilities are poor for the price & there's a tired air about the whole enterprise.
It might be o.k. for some real ale fans who've had so much to drink that they don't notice the uncomfortable beds etc.
I went because I'm a Camra member and I feel depressed whenever I see their adverts in Camra literature.
Don't go! Ashover village is lovely but stay somewhere else.
