Well what can I say - absolutely fantastic - great location, fantastic hospitality. Apartments were spacious and spotless and ample for a self catering holiday. Food, all home cooked was amazing - especially the Lamb Kleftiko!! Athena and Nikos welcome you as if you are... more

Stay away!!!!
I took my boyfriend away to the Sunshine apartments in Sidari for a two week stay in September 07 and I must say we hated it!!! The resort itself was fine lots of lovely restaurants and a couple of nice bars but the actual apartments were dreadful. As soon as we got there, we recieved a frosty reception from the owner Athena, who took one look at us and judged us as two youngsters who were going to be trouble, when all we wanted was a quiet break away. She had a go at us twice, once for bringing water to the pool - which had tan-enhancing chemicals in it, (as she said I would dirty the pool), and the second time for apparently keeping a cat in our room! Her husband Nikos did nothing but scowl and stare whenever we were about which made us feel really uncomfortable. We ended up spending nearly all our time away from the apartments as we were scared that we were going to get in trouble!!! When we left, they didnt even say goodbye. The walls are really thin and you can hear your neighbours quite easily, most of the people staying there were older couples or families and so they also looked on us as if we were aliens. Our rep was no help either, she told us our coach was coming and hour later than it was and then blamed us for not being ready, denying she ever said anything. Tony the barman was lovely though, he was very friendly and was the only one who made us feel welcome. In the resort I would really recommend 'The Face' restaurant which was brilliant, and the little place opposite it which made great chicken kebabs. There is also the most beautiful beach which is hidden away down a side road also opposite 'The Face' restaurant. All in all the resort was nice, quiet but with plenty of things to do if you wanted, but the hotel was crap!!!
Had fab time!
The sunshine apartments were lovely, nice and clean - the towels and bed linen were changed every 3 days. The pool was really nice and gets the sun all day. Although it was on a busy road into town once you got used to the cars beeping horns at nothing! (must be a greek thing!) you forgot all about it. Location wise a 20 minute walk will get you into town but there are some restaurants on the way down so we found it easier to eat first then go to the bars and clubs. Magda also cooks lovely food at the pool bar, I can recomend the meat balls! All in all we had a fantastic holiday, every one was very friendly and did all they could to make us feel welcome - especially Magda and Napoloeon who run the apartments & bar. I would definately go back (already looking at prices for next year)
Loved the Sunshine Apartments!!
Just arrived back from the Sunshine Apartments in Sidari and had a fantastic time there. The apartments are ideally located, far enough out of the main part of town, but not too far, easily within walking distance. The staff are extremely friendly and made the stay a pleasure. The apartments were clean but basic. The only complaint we had was that the one of the two apartments we rented (the studio) was abit too much like a prison cell with metal door and steps. Otherwise the rooms were fine. Would recomend eating in the snack bar by the pool because does gorgeous food at extremely cheap prices. Overall would recomend the Sunshine Apartments to families, couples and groups alike.
Good value for money accommodation
We stayed at the Sunshine Apartments 18th - 25th June. We had a 2 bedroom apartment above the bar, with a very large terrace. The rooms are clean but basic, but have everything that you need including air-con (30 Euros for the week) which was a must as it was very hot that week. The bathroom has a shower with very small bath (like a large sink with step) but always had hot water so no complaints. We had breakfast everyday in the bar area but you can get more for your money at other places nearby. The staff were all very friendly - particularly Tony the new bar man who works evenings, I had to show him how to make the perfect bloody mary so if any of your like this drink he is the man to see! The pool area is kept clean, and there are plenty of sunloungers to accommodate everyone. I found the location perfect, at the far end of the town but with bars and restaurants within 100 yards - we found the prices around that area better than the main strip and we liked it being quieter. We can highly recommend The Rocks bar & restaurant overlooking the Canal d'amor - excellent seafood. I would also recommend the Greek Night at THREE LITTLE PIGS restaurant - superb, lots of fire and fireworks, a great night was had by all. Another must do it the SUNSET BAR which is a short car journey out of Sidari, the best cocktails are served here whilst watching the sun set over the sea. Spectacular. Not cheap but worth it. My husband had tried to organise a horse & cart with bottle of champagne for our trip to the bar but the guy who provides this service (best one as he loves his horses like children - you cannot miss him, long haired chap who fancies himself!!) was not working that evening. The thought was there though. Did not go on the beach once - which is very unusual for me, but as it was soo hot I was happy to loung by the pool and nip indoors for a drink when it got too hot. MOZZIES - the little blighters are everywhere I had more than my fair share of bites. Use repellant 24/7 and take a plug in for your room. We went along to AQUALAND which was great fun - we managed to get a 3rd off the price by making a group booking so I would recommend getting as many of you together as poss to make some great savings. Make sure you take flip flops or other light footwear with you as the pavements around the park get very hot on bare feet, and watch out for bees in the grass - I got stung on the foot which was not a nice experience. If you have any questions please ask.
ok, but rooms away from the pool like prison cells
The area and rooms around the pool looked ok, but our room was away in a separate section at the back. It was dark and dingy with a dark green metal door, stairs and window shutters etc, reminded me of a prison cell. Sound came through the walls very easily from next door, could hear them talking, and obviously because of the metal stairs could hear them clanking up and down those as well. Had a good holiday overall though, just spent as much time out of the hotel as possible on the beach and in the bars/restaurants, just wouldn't come back to the Sunshine Apartments.
Excellent - hints and tips for your stay.
We returned from the Sunshine apartments just two weeks ago and still missing it. The photos on the First Choice website do not do it justice. Accommodation is based near the pool which is the hub of the atmosphere here. Well equipped for children - there is a new play area - added as we were there. Hairdryers are supplied in each room so it saves you packing one. Hints and tips - take some wet wipes or a spare loo roll. The Greeks charge for loo roll although your will get your first one free so don't worry. Athia and Demitris are your hosts. Athia cooks an excellent english breakfast for four euros and this fills you up for the day. For any advise on car hire ask Demitris who will be happy to help - car hire is substantially cheaper by going to a local hire firm instead of booking through your tour operator. Word of warning Corfu Town is expensive so take some extra cash for coffees etc. Most of all have a great holiday. The weather was great when we were there and it was only May.

Such a friendly atmosphere from the owners and staff
We have just had a fortnights holiday staying at the Sunshine apartments in Corfu. We felt the owners Athena and Nikos were so friendly and accomodating and nothing was too much trouble for them. The were such lovely people. We felt very comfortable staying here and met some lovely people who were also holidaying in the same resort. The apartments were extremely clean and nothing was too much trouble for Hara the cleaner. We hired a car and saw much of the island which was very pretty in areas. We loved the ambience of Corfu town and enjoyed sampling many Greek dishes. We highly recommend the menu at Sunshine apartments which was very cheaply priced and we also highly recommend Nickolas restaurant in Sidari. This had a great menu, for adults and children and the staff were very friendlyand accomodating.Very cheap too! Our children had a fantastic time on Glyfada beach and also at Aqualand. Aqualand was enjoyed by all of the family! We shall certainly be visiting sunshine apartments again!
