We paid her a £250 deposit in good faith and made sure the villa was cleaned to the highest standard before we left. We were a party of 12 (2 of which were children, 1 was an O.A.P and the rest mature couples one of which was my mother). We washed the towels, t-towels, floors, tables etc before we left. Unfortunately we didn't empty the dishwasher of its clean dishes and for that she has deducted our deposit. She claimed we left the bbq in a state and had to get it professionally power hosed. My brother said the coals were already in need of repair and she also deducted our deposit for a new bag and the power hosing!!!!!!!! Later I read on the British BBQ association that gas bbq's should not be wet and the way to clean them is by burning the food off which my brother did.

She also took money off our deposit for new sheets on a bed that was slept in by my mother in law a 65 year old woman stating that they looked as though a child had drawn on them!!! I'm putting in a lot of !!!'s because I am in complete disbelief as to how kids were in a room drawing when the door was ALWAYS meticulously locked since strong arthritis medication was kept in the room.

We have stayed in villas for years and always left them as we would leave our own houses. My partner is a cleaning machine and thats nothing compared to what my mother is. She also wrote in her mail that the duvet throw and cushions needed soaking to get marks out. My fiance HATES and I stress the words HATES throws and cushions. In fact I'm not allowed to buy them for our house. On the first night we arrived, i folded the bed cover purple throw and cushions and put them in the wardrobe. When we were leaving I took them back out and put them on the bed again. So how could covers that were never even used in the light of day be so stained that our deposit was deducted for those also. On the day we left our flight was in the evening and due to the fact that it was raining Rose said we could stay in the house for a couple more hours than the 11am departure time as no guests were expected for the following week. We left at lunch time and were later informed (6 weeks after I might add) that we were not getting our deposit back since we had stayed an extra day in the house. 2 hours is hardly an extra day and especially after she had said there wouldn't be a charge. She didn't come to the house and even though we waited she left a message to say we were to just leave and put the keys into the letter box down the road. Dealing with this woman has seriously been the biggest nightmare of my life. I need a holiday now more than ever.

Now for our comments on the house.

Firstly, Rosie states on all the ads that the house is 2km to the beach and within walking distance.... You Will Definitely need a car!!! Its close to 3 miles. We clocked it while driving. Very very disappointing AND its impossible to get a taxi from Javea after midnight home so just be warned. One of our guests can't walk due to a serious illness and it was even more disappointing for her since she wanted to spend her holiday ON the beach not looking at it from the far off distance.

On the first night we arrived the first 4 of our group were shown around the house, on the balcony outside (Naya) they were told that the sons of Rosie and her husband jump from the balcony into the pool below!!!! Hardly something I would have been advertising. We brought our 6 year old daughter and 18 month old son who would have been only too happy to have tried to do the same. The Balcony on top was very unsafe and we realised this when we found our baby pushing through the extremely large gaps in the wall. The drop is either straight into the deep end of the pool or straight onto tile. So on a lovely sunny day if we were eating in the house we had to eat in the sitting room with the doors all locked to the balcony (which makes the room pitch dark) or else we had to put her baby into a highchair on the Naya for the duration of our dinner which he didn't like one bit. Needless to say we only ate in the house one night. Definitely this villa was not suitable for our small children.

The upstairs bedrooms were lovely but be warned, the downstairs are a nightmare. There are 2 apartments downstairs, One with a double bed that has a bathroom and the other with a double and single bed. We stayed in the bedroom that had the double bed and single bed as our 6 year old and baby stayed in the room with us. Like I said the room had no toilet and the apartment next door was being used by a young couple who needless to say weren't too happy being disturbed during the night. We had to go outside, up the steps and into the main house as a result. Horrible when you have a 6 year old who needs to pee on demand! The main house as a result had to be left unlocked and we had been warned that they regularly have had burglars.

Also, the water heater was just inside the door to our room. If hot water was used throughout the house it was very noisy and really really smelly. We had to close our door fully at night even though there was a gate barrier that could have been locked. We learned that the first night when the noise of the heater and the smell of it woke us up. If the heater was turned off the house had no hot water. At night if people are down at the pool the water had to be turned off as the table and chairs area is right in front of this vent.

Be very careful with children or older people if you bring them. The tiles in the upstairs of the house if wet are treacherously slippy. Very hard not to get wet if people are running up and down to the pool or if your unlucky like us and get rain. The red tiles on the path into the house when wet are literally like walking on ice. No matter what shoes you wear. Be very very very careful!

We are soured by our experience in this house. My boyfriend and I are definitely planning on coming back to Javea next year to get married as we got engaged there on this holiday. However, we will be searching for somewhere better to stay with an owner who isn't going to rip us off!!!!! I wouldn't stay here if it was given away free!

We are still over 6 weeks later trying to get our deposit back and a trip that should have been simply beautiful has left a sour taste in all our mouths.
