We were given 2 days notice of the up-grade of our Hotel from the Litera Marmaris Relax (4*)to the Litera Marmaris Deluxe (5*) Bodrum.
The transfer time from Delaman airport was 2.20 and as we'd left Gatwick at 21.00, the journey time was tough going. We arrived at the hotel at 7.30 only to find we had to change rooms(a couple of times) to find one that was satisfactory- clean, well lit and with working bathroom facilities.
It would appear that the terrace restaurant was built over a huge wasps nest, which I think they mistakenly think adds to it's charm, as management have done nothing about it dispite many a stung wrist/leg. The food is varied, well presented, hot, plentiful and delicious. The waiting staff are a little too over zealous when it comes to clearing away...you learn to eat with one hand holding your plate.
Any 'girl' aged between 12-18 is deemed as fair game to the bar staff! The beer is good but the wine will strip the enamel from your teeth.
There are good rooms to be had and they appear to get better the higher the altitude. Housekeeping could certainly do with being more conscienceous. Generally the staff were friendly and helpful. It was difficult to communicate with them as even the most basic english was not within their grasp and this surprised me for a tourist resort.
The steps were tretcherous and plentiful. We saw many an injury by the end of our week.
The beach is a strip of schingling with a jetty and some sun beds.Do take your own towel as they have a constant shortage. The beach volley ball court doubles as a dumping ground and judging by all the moss and weeds, is best left that way. The entertainment is very Butlins circa 1980.
The hotel is set in a beautiful, peaceful location and only a 10min Dolmus ride into town.
The Goldtrail Reps will turn every opportunity into a hard sell! Once they get the money out of you, that's where their obligation ends. Some of our fellow holiday makers were treated attrociously.
This hotel is not to be mistaken for it's sister hotel in Ichemler which is probably best suited to young families who want to be in the thick of it all. Also this has a lovely beach and lots of shops surrounding it.
I saw our originally booked hotel...THANK GOD for the up grade.
All in all, if you go expecting 3*, you wont be disappointed and should have a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Where do i start, 5* deffinately not i wouldnt rate it above 2*. On arrival we had to wait for over 2hours for our room to become available, after reading reviews before flying to Turkey i was worried about what to expect,i was pleasently suprised it was clean and tidy, although it wasnt cleaned for week we was there and we only got clean towels and toilet paper because we helped ourselves from the cleaners cupboard outside our room. The food...yuk, mushroom soup for the first 3 nights and lentil soup for the rest, chicken every night with a choice of either meatballs or fish, all served cold. macaroni, rice or pasta to go with them. for the first 4 days there was bread and butter to accompany the food but then the butter run out so we had to have dry bread. The food is covered with flies. We ate very little at the hotel and decided to pay for meals in Marmaris to be on the safe side. The staff was not at all interested in the holiday makers and were very rude. Only interested in making money and chatting up the young girls Apart from a game of bingo and the odd karaoke there was no entertainment. I go on holiday at least 3 times a year and this is the first time i have ever felt the need to let people know about a hotel i have stayed in. Please, please, please dont go to this hotel pay a little bit extra and go elsewhere..............

We Booked a late deal through a company called A1 travelvia Icelollie.com.It seemed that our flights, accomodation and tranfers were all from seperate companies, but all seemed to work together ok. Thomas cook flight on time and fairly comfortable. transfer from the airport a bit cramped with 6 people in a car and a very fast driver. Goig home was a lot better. a mini bus and pleanty of room.
Hotel was very run down and in desperate need of a lot of work.
Food was ok but the same every day. Wine undrinkable
Room very basic and reasonably clean, sheets changed 3 times in the week we were there. taps hanging off and electric sockets looked dodgy. Tiny balcony and if you sat out there or had the door open smoke from the people in the next room came in.
The tukish bath and the gym were a disgrace.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We thought we were going to a 4 star hotel, but Wouldn't even give it 2.
We also realised that for what we paid it could have been worse, but we thought we were getting it cheap because it was a late deal. I think it was just cheap anyway.
I would go to Turkey again, but would definately not recomend this hotel

The hotel was disgusting. The only nice thing about it was the swimming pool. There was no snack bar through the day. All week for breakfast it was boiled eggs and salami sausage. It was miles from the town centre and the staff were quiet rude. The drinks were watered down and there was not a great selection of drinks you had an option of drinking vodka, brandy, wine or beer. I really cannot understand how this hotel is featured as a 5 star and when it is 5 suns.

We have only just arrive back from Literia Marmaris Duleux and it was probably the worst holiday i have ever been on. We arrived on 16th sep at 6.30am after the 2 hour transfer from Dalaman airport to be told that the hotel had no rooms for us. We called the Goldtrail rep who put the phone down on us. We had to go to another hotel called the Sun Love, which was awful. We had no all inclusive band so most of our day we had to buy our own food and drink. Finally after speaking to the rep she said that this was a regular ocurance and that Goldtrail was not at fault. We stayed there that evening and waited to be picked up the next day and when we finally got to the hotel the next day we was told we had to wait two hours for our hotel room. We got our hotel room, which was at the top of the complex , which consisted of hills and over 100 steps. The rooms was basic but clean but we never recieved any towels or toilet roll throughout our stay even through we complained everyday. The food was basic and seemed to cater for the polish. The breakfast was basic and we ate egg and bread every morning and most days we ate chicken and chips. The food is not great but the alcoholic measures was ok but at 11pm the all inclusive finished. This is not a hotel for children as there is nothing for them to do as there is no kids club. What is advertised as a kids club is a mini swing and slide. Also you are about 15 mins in a car to the town centre. Overall i would never go back to this hotel again and advise everyone never to book a hotel with Goldtrail.

this holiday that was sold to me with a child with a life threatening illness, the company fully aware of our needs.i spent lots of phone calls with the agent john specifiying 1 i needed to be by a beach,2 a good swimming pool,3chidren entertainment day and nite.all inclusive.this was a total joke.i had to have emergency flight home week early due to my 3 yr old being ill, going to hospital.and getting thrush in her mouth from baby pool.the pools which were so small were cleaned once in the week i was there,1 lot of clean towels, food that was not edible.NO entertainment for children,a swing and slide area that had loose paving stones at bottom of stairs left unfinnished, cat poo in this area never cleaned away, slide bolts not tight so slide was loose and held up with scaffolding pole on a metal drain ooooo so safe....NOT.wires hanging out of sockets in bedroom, tap never turned off in bathroom, lift totaly unsafe to use with a warning of clothing and fingers to be kept away from door as will get trapped notmight get trapped.we were near no beach at all and journey with 3 children 1 being older was impossible by bus with a sick child and one in a push chair.pool table £4 a game.as for all inclusive thats a joke u had to pay for ice creams air conditioning and much more.be very careful booking with this company as they have no interest in helping you when your put in the hell hole they sell you.my parents offered to pay more to up grade so mychildren could have the rest of their holiday due to my son being so ill for the last year that ola were aware of when booking made as i made it very clear to them, instead of being helpfull we had to pay extra to come home.there is so much more that was bad too much too list,if you want a good holiday DO NOT GO TO THIS RESORT OR OLA HOLIDAYS.it doesnt even deserve rating of 1 but this system has to have something and does not have 0 available.

just got back from a 2 week all inclusive holiday here, and it was the best holiday i have ever had!.
Are room was lovely nice clean and newly referbished, as all the rooms are now.
Meals are really nice, nice range of food even for children, usually the chef is cooking something extra on the BBQ outside which is lovely.
The entertainment was the best i have ever had, two men which is very common in turkish hotles do the entertain, they were lovely. Water polo, volleyball, table tennis tournements, basketball football, and pools games in the day which anyone can join in with doesnt matter about age or abiltly, At night they was mini disco down are the bar then bingo, their is a show 2 nights a week, something turkish and they also do the mr and mrs competetions and karokeo.
The two men jimmy and snake get involded with everyone, and will come talk to you when you arrive they make you feel very welcome and you can meet friends through them, they also play games in the pool with the little children in the day to give parents a break.
The hotel is about a 5 - 10 minuet drive outside of marmaris, which is nice as many people who were staying in the center said it was too loud, all you have to do to go into marmaris is get on a pink bus outisde the hotel and it takes you straight their.
The hotel is built into the clife side so their is a few steps but not as many as other people have said, and if you find this too much, you can be moved lower down, so theirs no worries.
The hotel has its own beach which is gorgeous, and the view from your room is over the sea and a yatch marina which as you are just outisde of marmaris its lovely!!
All the staff are friendly and ready too help.
the hotel has a lot of different nationatilys aswell as english thier is polish german turkish austrain, which are all lovely and will try and talk to you.
The only bad part about are holiday was cosmos, well we only saw the rep once in the welcome meeting, but apprently he was ill, we went on a boat trip which it was lovely day but their was no rep their with us, and the bus turned up late, but it didnt ruin are trip
But yeh overall this hotel is really nice and i really do recomend it, i wrote this review as i have come to relised people only write reviews once they have had a bad holiday but hardly ever a good one, so if your like me and went to look at the reviews before you booked you might of got a mixed view, but hosently it is lovely, and so its turkey its self, this isnt just my familys view on the hotels aswell we spoke to lots of different familys and couples and everyone enjoyed it, i never spoke to someone who didnt like it.
If you are going then i wish you a good holiday

Just returned from a 2 week holiday in this hotel in a group of 12. I would not recommend it! The rooms were dirty and the bathroom was dark and mouldy. During our 2 week stay we had our room cleaned twice.
The all inclusive was rubbish. If you missed breakfast you couldn't have anything to eat until 1 o'clock and the hotel is too far away from the town to pop in to get something to eat. The food was horrible and there wasn't much choice. The alcohol was watered down, including the beer and you had to drink out of plastic cups which were very small. The all inclusive finished at 11 o'clock and between 10 and 11 you were only allowed to order 2 drinks at a time and the bar staff were counting the amount of drinks on the table so that nobody had too many. This meant that after 10, if our party of 12 wanted to get another round in, 6 people had to go up to the bar. Most (not all) of the bar staff were ignorant and unhelpful. There was only one bar which was the pool bar so in the evening there was no where to go that was air conditioned.
The only good thing I can say about the hotel is that the pool area was big and very clean.
Overall, we were all very disappointed with the hotel and would not recommend it or return there.

THE GOOD BITS.
THE HOTEL IS QUITE LOVELY, SET IN IT'S OWN WOODED HILLSIDE. THE CLIME TO THE ROOM WAS QUITE A TREK SOMETIMES. THE RECEPTION DID OFFER TO MOVE US TO A LOWER ROOM, WHICH WE DECLINED. WE WERE HAPPY WITH THE VIEW FROM OUR ROOM.
THE ROOM WAS CLEAN WITH FRESH TOWELS DAILY. THE AI BAR WAS VERY GOOD BUT QUITE LIMITED IN STOCKED BEER. THE FOOD WAS VARIED AND ALWAYS HOT. NOT A LOT OF CHOICE, BUT IT WAS OK. THE COURTYATD BAR/ENTERTAINMENTS AREA WAS ALWAYS POPULAR AT NIGHT. LIMITED BUT FREINDLY ENTERTAINMENT.
THE SMALL PRIVATE BEACH WAS A DREAM. CLEAR, CLEAN AND WARM WATERS.
NOW THE BAD BITS.
THE NIGHT RECEPTIONIST HAD NO ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILLS.
THE GOLDTRAIL EXCURSIONS WERE MIS REPRESENTED AND PRICEY- AVOID THESE LIKE THE PLAGUE.
THE ON SITE SHOP IS A RIP-OFF AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN. VERY,VERY EXPENSIVE FOR EVRYTHING.
THE GUYS SELLING PERFUMES IN THE COURTYARD WILL TELL YOU THEY ARE THE GENUINE ITEMS - BEWARE! THEY ARE REALLY FAKES. DO NOT BUY FROM THOSE GUYS.

My partner and I needed a break from reality, so thought we'd book a holiday. After being duped into buying this 5* all-inclusive holiday at an obviously discounted price we thought we were on to a winner. However, upon arrival (after having our flight departure dates, times and place changed twice) our transfer was 2hrs instead of 1. When eventually we got to the so called "Deluxe" hotel and checked in, we climbed the many stairs to the room and upon entering were hit by a damp stench from the mouldy walls, fridge, bathroom and damp linen on the beds. Although disgruntled by the accommodation we thought we'd pay a visit to the rest of the facilities. We found the bar, which looked quite pleasant, the pool area again looked to be taken care of. As it was almost time for dinner we thought we would take a look in the shop below the restaurant. Well as expected everything was over priced. The food was lovely but I found it to be very repetitive. I enjoy tasting the cuisine of the country I visit, so was a little disappointed with the lack of choice. After we ate our meal we then headed back to our room. We decided that we would head down to the reception and ask to change rooms. After some disagreements we were eventually taken to another room. (Thankfully this one didn’t have as many steps to climb.) Having moved our kit we preceded to the bar and ordered some watered down drinks. The brochure stated that the hotel boasted tennis, volleyball and basketball courts as well as water sports and a gym. Well none of it was either true, worked or you had to buy your own equipment.
As a whole the holiday was let down by the resort but I will say that most of the staff were friendly (sometimes over friendly). The pool area and limited choice of food was better then acceptable and the weather fantastic. If after reading this you still stay at this hotel go on one of the many the boat trips.

De luxe must have been a joke, on arrival we wondered what we had arrived at, the hotel! is on the side of a small mountain and in all ways not acceptable as 5 star, for any person of older years or incapacitated in anwyay it is totally unacceptable. There are 100/200 steps to the blocks of room accomodation, and if not, long hard concrete slopes, unsuitable for pushchairs or wheel chairs, reception staff were completely uninterested in anyones requirements, and asking for a change of room took anything up to a week if at all, cleaning was at best spasmodic with no change of bed linen, the showers a disgrace and hot water a lottery. If you were unfortunate enough to be in the dungeons the smell of sewage was downright dangerous. The goldtrail rep tried hard but was overwhelmed with people wanting to change rooms or hotel, ( I am registered disabled ) we were told that to change to a hotel in Marmaris town, 4 star, would be £22 per person per day extra. The hotel is about 15 mins. outside the town and cut off so you are trapped audience. There are no facilities for a comfort lounge and only outside seating for any entertainment, wich seemed to be geared to the 11o/c bar curfew. The swimming pool area was beautiful as were the views, food delicious and restaurant staff very good, weather brilliant, all in all a nice holliday in spite of Goldtrail and the so called Listera de Luxe !
