Morritt Arms Hotel

We booked a 2 night stay an a DB&B basis. The room was classified as a Standard Double On arrival we were impressed with building and façade The location was good being a small village close to but not on the main road. But when we got inside our disillusionment commenced. The receptionist was polite but insisted on seeing my credit card despite me saying it was the same one as I had paid the deposit with some weeks earlier. Why? Stayed at the Morritt Arms Hotel for 1 night in february. There are 3 room options, standard, superior and designer. We opted for the designer rooms which cost £150 per night including breakfast. The room itself is not actually in the hotel, its a set of 4 rooms in an outside building. Our room was tastefully decorated, with open fire which we couldnt use cause the chimney was blocked! On that note there is only 1 radiator to heat the whole room which staying during the winter months is inadequate. My personal opion is its not worth £150... more

We booked with laterooms at 3.30pm on Saturday and arrived later that day for 6.30pm Cost was discounted by £20 and this helped me put up with the awful mattress. It's a lovely old hotel inside and out and set in a lovely place. Handy to get to too - just off the A1. Our room was a standard and it was ok, I think for £80 it could have been better and bigger. We had a window but it was at the back and overlooked a huge extension so all we saw was roof. Really, nothing but roof. Such a BIG shame considering the location we were in. I think... more

Stayed in one of the feature rooms + jacuzzi bathroom. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. The bed was enormous. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was superb-my creme brulee was so good I could have licked the plate! All in all, a very pleasurable experience. I would definitely go back.

Just got back from northern England where my family and I stayed at the Morritt Arms. We had been so excited to visit based on their web site photos. We did not have a good experience. The hotel is not air conditioned and the rooms were unbearably hot especially my sisters room on the 3rd floor. They had no fans available to ease the situation. The matresses were not comfortable and the hotel needed more attention to detail, The fabrics were worn and faded in the rooms themselves. Our dinners were ok but they played U.S. pop music... more
