pleasantly suprised
from honymooncouple
arrived at toros at 5am after reading reports on toros dreading what we were to find we were suprised what we found the staff were there to take cases up to our rooms . our room was on top floor good view from balcony room basic but clean newish wardrobes bed sheets changed everyother day with fresh towels only fault we had was the shower there was no pressure and when sun did,nt shine no hot water but this is nearly the same in all hotels in altinkcum as they work of soler energy for £252 for two weeks exellent value for money ali and the rest of the staff are really friendly alterations are to take place a lift is to be put in. toros as been taken over by new management (a familyconcern) and spending money on it . nice pool area with waiter service if required good food in resturant and cheap. if your like us read the other reports don't let this put you off .our age 40-45 would definetly stay at the toros hotel again, the toros is also central for every thing you need on holiday
Absolutly Never Again!

Well where shall i start, we arrived at around 6pm, dropped off by bus and the guys at the hotel watched me and my hubby struggle with the suitcases etc, once in i noticed the shabby state of the reception area (if you could call it one)! First room we were given was no bigger than a shoe box, at that stage i said i wasn't even going to unpack, we were given another room which was slightly bigger but only just, the floor in the toilet was soaking wet, the toilet was so close to the wall that you had to sit side ways, there was no back up hot water so we had to wash in cold or go for a turkish bath. Although our beds were made the sheets were not changed we did get a change of towels once or mabye twice. This is my fourth time to Altinkum and my husbands first, so you could imagine what his reaction was! I could go on and on, but most of the other problems have been covered by the other reviews about the Toros Hotel..........
You get what you pay for.

We have just returned from the Toros and yes it's quite basic, not everything worked when or how it was supposed to but overall I have to say to myself "will I go back again" and the answer is "yes I would". When we booked this holiday, through Co-op Travelcare and Goldtrail it was a top-up holiday and it had to be cheap. The total price including all the add on bits for 2 people was £292.16p? Can you really complain about what you get when you pay this amount? I don't think so. People should have an idea of what they will get when they see the price and I was reasonably ok with my deal. I have to say that it would not suite everyone, who was staying at the Toros but you could say that about most places. Altinkum itself is a super place and as this was our first time in Turkey our descision is we will be going back again. Our usual main holidays are mostly taken in 5 star hotels but we are adaptable!
Nice Pool, shame about the rest

We booked through Goldtrail. Onur Airlines were good for the price, a bit extra leg-room and reasonably punctual. We were expecting very little from the Hotel for the price we paid and that is exactly what we got! Firstly the good news. The Room cleaners were very good, and the Hotel is well situated in the centre of town and about a quarter of a mile from the beach. Bad news. The rooms were very small, with one two foot wide wardrobe with two drawers, one bedside table and one very small table (we lived out of our suitcases for two weeks). The light switches were hanging from the walls, the shower was broken and the balcony was tiny. We had our room changed and guess what, the new room was exactly the same. The showers had no back up system so if the sun didn't shine we had cold water only. The bar toilets were dirty and the pool toilets were a disgrace and the whole hotel looked very seedy indeed. We loved Altinkum but I wouldn't go back to that hotel if they offered it to me free of charge.
Loved it!!!

The holiday was booked last minute and we really didn't know what to expect of the Toros. We arrived early in the morning and was greeted with a big friendly welcome. The hotel itself is basic, but it accomodates all your needs. Any problems and they get sorted straight away. The hotel staff are fantastic... hassle free but always up for a laugh. The pool is good, the food is good and the drink flows. What more do you need from a hotel... Highly recommended. ***** Nina and Charlotte, Lincolnshire.
Toros hotel - Brilliant staff

I stayed in the Toros hotel in June 2006, we arrived there at 4ish am and all the staff were there waiting to great us and "Ali G" saw that i didnt look well and made me up a special drink to make me feel better! -free of charge i must add! and then carried all my bags into the room. The first room we stayed in was awful but that was just for the early arrivals, so as we woke up the next day we asked for a different room and they told us they had already sorted us one out, so the boys carried all our suitcases up 3 floors for us and our room was so much better!!! The room was so much better so clean and fresh! The cleaner worked so hard and we often came back to see the towels and bed decorated and she was a star when she accepted all of our washing!!! We never stayed for a turkish night at Toros but i wish we did looking at the picture of the breakdancers! hee hee, Im sure it would of been alot of fun!! On our last night in Altinkum my mates mum got assualted by a English man and was rushed to hospital with our friend so i got left to look after her daughter (my friend). I really didnt know what to do so i asked Ali if he could help us! He phoned up the hospital to see if she had been admitted and to see if she was alright, he offered to take us to see her, but instead he sat with us for a while while we all calmed down! The next day he drove to the police station to try and translate for us and he was a real big help! I was so thankful of that man that night, i wouldnt of had the first idea of what to do if he wasnt there!

Hotel very basic staff fantastic cleaner works so hard cleans rooms every day but hassle from waiters outside trying to get you into different resteraunts and pubs horrendus completely spoilt holday no more Turkish holidays for us stay away from Blue Rose right next door to Toros con merchants charge you a fortune and use their children to entice you in we ate there three times and then they were very rude when we said we wanted to try somewhere else.Aga Kook just a few doors away is excellent no hassle very clean and cheap unfortunately we did not discover this until two days before we were leaving

I travelled alone to the toros hotel, and yes its basic, But incredibly clean (the staff are always cleaning). I found the staff very friendly and helpfull !! I also made friends with most of the guests, who iam pleased to say i keep in touch with. I felt the staff at the toros gave me a second home for the week, not just bed and breakfast. No matter what time you stroll in their always there. IT might not be a 5 star hotel, but the SERVICE and friendliness is outstanding !!!! i would book again !!! SUSANNA XXXX richmond north yorkshire

My Fiance and I have just come back from a week at the Toros Hotel in altinkum, turkey and we booked the holiday through Goldtrail via Hays travel (last minute deal from telextext!) Even though the holiday was cheap my fiance and i thought that the hotel was in terrible condition! It was supposed to be a 2* plus hotel but was more like a 1*. Apo, one of the members of staff was very rude and treated people with very little respect, we were told that the hotel has recently been refurbished and our travel agent persuaded us to choose the toros over the sirena hotel as it was closer to the beach and had been supposedly refurbished! i don't know what they have done but the place looks much worse than their brochures pictures! The other staff were very helpful but air con was 3 quid per night extra and was NOT in every room as they say it is! We had to fight to get our room changed and after 2 days of being messed about we finally got moved into a new room and found that all the rooms were in a sorry state of repair! The electrics are dodgy to say the least, plugs hanging off the wall with live sockets exposed and definatley not suitable for children! they don't allow you to take even mineral water in your room unless you pay double the price for it from the hotel! all in all i would say that you should avoid this hotel as even when you politely ask for things to work you get sarcastic and often offensive answers back! Goldtrail were useless also as the rep was away for 3-4 days at the beginning of our holiday, by which time we had fought with the staff on our own to get our room changed! Altinkum was a nice place and i would recommend Noahs ark for food (very cheap and excellent food) but please save yourself from toros we spoke to 5 couples who have all stayed in turkey before and told us that toros was the worst hotel they had ever stayed in! The hotel only had 2 things going for it: it had a pool which was ok and the cleaner was very good! cleaned your room everyday but everything else was overpriced - food was much more expensive and the drinks were double the average price for the area!
Toros Hotel - Dont Judge a book by its cover!!!
from 84Hayley
Me and my boyfriend went to the Toros Hotel in Altinkum in Middle of July this year. We booked this through Goldtrail Holidays. Weve never been to turkey and was a bit wary. We arrived at the Toros at 6.30am and WAS NOT IMPRESSED. Proper 1* hotel. 2 single beds a toilet and shower. In the 1st room the back door didnt lock, the front door only shut if you locked it, the shower was broken and the balcony looked over what we thought was a scrap metal yard!! I then went to reception, outlined the problem and asked to change rooms. Abu, the guy on duty apologised and moved us straight away. Room was slightly better. However, the people at the hotel made it fantastic - could not do enough for you - would even drive down the kebab shop at 4 in the morning when you get the alcohol munchies!!! The cleaner was great, came every day and tidies everything away for you, one day we even came home to towels in the shape of love hearts and petals all over the bed - looked great. The snacks in the hotel are great value and really lovely and the Turkish BBQ there is a must. So good that we wanted to go back in September, but it is fully booked :( Dolphin square was ok - although a little over priced in some bars and we did get hassled a lot so its easier to walk on the beach. The best restaurants were: Cafe del mar in dolphin square and Ali Baba and The Blue Rose just along from the Toros.
