We stayed here in March 2008, we had a family of 5, we requested 2 rooms and got two fabulous rooms with beautiful scenery, the bathrooms were to die for and I wanted to bring the power shower home with me..Just what you need after a hard day on the slopes.
The food was outstanding, the portions were plentilful and the quality was suberb, both for the breakfast and eve meal.
I read a poor review on this website previously and I have to say it was really unjustified, all the staff, but espcially, Kay were warm, welcoming and exceptionally helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them.
If you get the opportunity to go to Soll please use this hotel it is my 3rd visit to Soll, and this is the best hotel we have stayed in, you really will not be dissapointed, just be expected to have your waistline expanded.

We were a party of four staying at Fuchs for a week. The hotel is more than adequate for 3 star. There is an old part and a new part and we were in the new part. Both rooms we had were small, especially the girls room and the toilets small but we were here to ski so did not perceive this as much of a problem. If you are staying in your room on a Ski holiday then you may find it poky! The showers were fine and always had hot water.
The hotel staff were friendly and efficient and they all spoke good English, however if you converse or attempt to in German, they will communicate back in German, so no showing off!
Tables are allocated at the start of your holiday and this will remain for the duration. We were sitting at a table with a single guy and a few girls and it makes a nice change to be able to swap stories with other people.
The owners were friendly and the food was plentiful and tasty and breakfast was a feast of options. The Austrians do like their meat and especially pork but we had absolutely no complaints on the food front. The salad bar was especially enjoyable.
However, they won't serve you tap water and force you to buy bottled water. This we discovered was empty mineral water bottles that they topped up with tap water as the bottle tops were always open when they arrived at the table and looked as if they had been reused many times. The only thing was that breakfast service started at 07:45am and seemed rather late, especially if you wanted an early breakfast to get to the slopes early.
The bar area is a bit small and always crowded at night and finding a table in the residents area without being consumed by cigarette smoke was a challenge.
The ski bus stop is at the hotel next door but is only every 40 minutes so be ready or prepare for a 15-20 minute walk to the gondola.
On the whole I would recommend the hotel and will probably return at some point in the future.

My family visited Soll for our first skiing holiday in January this year. It is a beautiful village and everything was perfect except for the hotel (Fuchs). We were a party of six (including parents, three girls aged 16, 17 and 22 and her boyfriend) and so had three rooms. On arrival we were disappointed that the rooms were really small but the bathrooms were tiny. The bathroom door in the girls room was clear glass so they made a make-shift curtain from a towel. It was not possible for the duration of the holiday to have a shower in any of the rooms as the water was either boiling hot or freezing cold as we learned very quickly once we got burned.
However we did not complain, we washed in the sinks or had a shower in the local pool. One evening we went to the sauna room to relax and have a shower, imagine our surprise when we were met by naked men and women walking around, we swiftly left as it was embarassing and not appropriate in my opinion, for teenage girls to be exposed to this. They could have put a towel around them. We did not return to the sauna room but still did not complain.
There were ash trays on the tables in the dining room for the first 3 evenings and my husband assumed it was ok to smoke (there were a number of others smoking) and there was nothing said. On the fourth evening, my husband, myself and 16 year old daughter were sitting at the table, he took out a cigarette and lit it, he asked the waitress for an ash tray which she subsequently laid on the table. After a few minutes the owner came out and began shouting at him that there was no smoking in the dining area. Initially we thought he was joking until it became apparent that he was serious. All he had to do was say that smoking was not allowed and that would have been the end of it. He was roaring at the top of his voice and my daughter got so upset she left and went back to her room. Dinner was spoilt that night and the girls refused to eat there again the following night. Everyone was upset and it put a damper on the whole holiday, the waitress apologised and said that normally he did not mind people smoking in the dining area but that he was having a bad day.
We would have ignored all the other problems but I felt this man's behaviour should be highlighted to other potential guests.
I have to say that this behaviour was not typical of the residents of Soll who we found to be very friendly and helpful. There was a brilliant restaurant directly across from the Whiskey Mule and we also had a beautiful meal at the one on the corner.

I stayed at this hotel 6-13th January 2007 and could have no complaints.
It was clean, fresh towels everyday, staff friendly and the food was good. It is a short walk to the slopes and ski school but there is also a bus if you are carrying boots etc.
I would definitely recommend Soll for beginners as the ski school and instructors are excellent but as a first-timer myself, I found it quite a transition from the nursery slopes to the blue runs.
My husband and I had a great time and it was only tainted slightly by the lack of snow.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were friendly the place was so clean it was hard to believe. The food was superb. The resort was brilliant the skiing was fab and a short walk at night to the clubs was a pleasure to do. The free use of the sauna and steam rooms were a bonus. The rooms were cleaned every day and although the staff couldn’t speak a lot of English they were always all too happy to help.
I can’t believe there has been a complaint about this place as there isn’t a fault that I could pick up with this place any were.

I was part of a group of eight adults in our late 20's, early 30's and I had a very enjoyable time at this hotel.
The rooms were very clean and well presented and the food was excellent and of the highest quality. There was a variety of dishes to choose from each day for your evening meal and it was all freshly prepared.
I found the staff very pleasant and I was never made to feel out of place at all. The fact that I did not know any of the language of course was uncomfortable for me personally and something which I will certainly be making an effort to rectify the next time I go here.
The hotel seems to be very popular with German and Austrian skiers. There were very few English speaking residents there at that particular time.
However in saying that there was always someone around who could speak some English and there were no problems with communication at all. I certainly would not under-rate this hotel due to my own ignorance of their language.
The hotel owners seem to be very proud of their culture and heritage, wearing traditional clothes while serving dinner on occasions giving a real sense of Austria and not just another ski resort hotel.
The resort itself is very pleasant but if you like ski to door facilities, then don’t stay at this hotel. The plus side though, is that you leave your ski equipment in the lockers at the foot of the slopes overnight, freeing you up to go straight to the bar to wind down before the trek back to the hotel, which surprisingly isn't that far once you become accustomed to it.
In the morning you can get the ski bus at the door but it is actually a very refreshing ten to fifteen minute walk loosening up the muscles before reaching the ski slopes and clearing a fuzzy head. Well that's how I looked at it!
The nightlife is varied catering for all. We found a traditional Austrian night in a nearby hotel which was wonderful if not a touch surreal by the end. Pink Floyd on an accordion and sung by four grown Austrian men all in traditional costume is something not to be forgotten. It was an excellent night and I highly recommend it.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the hotel but am sure if you ask about, someone local will be able to direct you to it. There was something to be found for everyone here in this resort from quiet bars to clubs and live music yet the resort never seemed rowdy or overly crowded at night.
I would stress however that if you go out at night you need to remember to BRING YOUR ROOM KEYS WITH YOU otherwise you will be locked out of your room as the reception is not 24 hours. This is really important to remember.
The skiing itself is very good for intermediate skiers. I can’t advise any higher than that I am afraid! A few of my group were absolute beginners and the jump from the learner bunny slopes to the next level was very daunting for them.
It was more like a very steep blue than a green which was a bit frightening for a few but once conquered it was all good. I suppose it is best to be forewarned of this as it could be a bit off-putting for some beginners.
In short, this is a laid back, quiet and relaxing hotel so if you are here for a lively, loud holiday that Soll as a resort can offer, this is probably not the place of rest for you.
If however you want a quieter relaxing atmosphere with excellent food after a day of good skiing, then this hotel should be one for you to consider. It certainly was a pleasant bonus on my holiday.

A very good hotel with ample food and a friendly atmosphere. The hotel had a 24hr key system. The room I had was a three person shared room in the new annexe, this was spacious and bright with a view over the mountains and a balcony.
The staff were very friendly and the rooms were spotlessly cleaned every day with fresh towels most days. The breakfast and dinner were excellent.
I read a review about how bad the hotel was from a bunch of 15 Irish stags. I do not know what their problem was because the hotel was accommodating and open the whole time. Maybe they were the problem!
I would recommend this hotel and the resort of Soll to anybody.

This Hotel is superb the food can not be beaten!
The Hotel has a marvellous feel of Austria, English speaking guests are small in number, so you really feel you are on a holiday abroad (who would want to go abroad if you could not experience the life and culture of the area you were visiting), but the Hotel does not make you feel inferior if you have limited German or can only speak English, its the best welcome I have ever received at any hotel.
If the tour operators wont use this hotel then I wont go. We have been to Soll six times and each time I have stayed at Maria Fuchs Hotel.

Hotel owners where very unfriendly starting from when we got off the bus upon arrival. However breakfast was very nice as was the evening meal. The waitress was friendly also.
There is a mayor problem with the hotel owners. They locked me out of my room twice. Verbal and on two occasions physical assaults took place. I would strongly urge English speaking tourist to avoid this hotel.

This was without doubt the worst hotel (of any star rating) I have ever stayed in. I have never gone to the trouble of detailing a review in the past, but the reception our group received from the management of Fuchs hotel was so despicable that it has inspired me to break precedent. Soll is a great resort and the existence of the Fuchs attitude towards guests can only detract from the resorts potential.
Our group was ignored for over 30 minutes on arrival, we had to ask several times for service before we got any. The accommodation in the room was spacious but sleeping on a bunk bed is a first for me, but that was okay. pieces of broken glass in my bed was not okay especially when they cut you (I suppose you can’t blame anyone for trying to squeeze the max money out of an opportunity!). Food was good there (but be prepared to find hair - I can only presume from the dog that walks everywhere, yes including the kitchen; and even selotape - I can’t explain where that came from!) but if you ask for water be prepared to be refused. They will not give you a jug of water with your meal. Be prepared for an aggressive reproach if you query the reason for this. Do not expect any apologies for being locked out of the hotel because a door that only they have a key to is locked by them. In fact do not expect an apology for anything, ever! Do not expect to be able to laugh and enjoy yourself as normal if you are a big group - laughing aloud in Soll is permitted but this doesn’t seem to apply in the Fuchs hotel.
If you are Irish, you will know what it means to enjoy yourself. Now put yourself with 14 other males friends - can you imagine the craic...well if you are such a group planning a trip to Soll and plan to stay in Fuchs Hotel...DON'T...you will not enjoy yourself. if you are a couple or a small group of 4/5 you might be treated differently. Our group were treated disgracefully from the off. We left this Fuchs hotel and received a present from the hotel owner of the Golden Lowe in Kuffstein as a token of thanks for our custom (this is a friendly, welcoming and normal hotel - a hotel the Fuchs would do very well to take a page from).
In all, there was nothing commendable about the way the Fuchs hotel ran their business and it amazes me that there are good reviews about the hotel. If your review of this hotel is good then all I can conclude is that you expectations are well below the average standard. If you decide to stay there - good luck - don’t say you weren’t warned!!
Conclusion - Fuchs sucks!

This was a lovely 3 star hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was very good as were the evening meals. It has a good leisure area with sauna & steam room. the only thing that I would change was that it was a 10 min walk down to the village in the evenings which made you less likely to head out in the evenings. Ski bus stopped right outside the door.

I travelled with 6 lads aged 17-19. The skiing was great apart from that lack of quality snow on the resort run to Soll, 3 of the party were in ski school for 3 days and really enjoyed it and soon picked up skiing if a tad expensive.
The hotel was great we was welcomed in to reception and were soon in are rooms unpacking. We were in the old part of the hotel in 2 rooms connected by a balcony to the rear on the 3rd floor; the beams were a bit low in places but still nice rooms with character. Are rooms were cleaned during the day with fresh clean towels in the bathroom ready for a shower on are return.
The food was good in the hotel and all are dietary requirement were covered, (gluten free foods for one of the party). Breakfast was a good, with lots of things to choose from, the staff were very good to us and worth a tip at the end of the week.
For a small village, Soll has one hell of a nightlife, Whiskey Muhle and the Soll Sportsbar are the place to be at night. After coming of the piste it is well worth having a beer and a steak burger at the Salven Stadl on the way back in to town.
Definitely returning to Soll and the Hotel Fuch next year!!
