Wonderful Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
Have just spent a wonderful week at this hotel and having read all the previous reviews, we did think it sounded too good to be true.....However it more than lived up to our expectations. It was the last week of the Winter Season and we were blessed with wonderful weather for the whole week, with clear blue skies from morning till night. What can I say about the hotel, other than pure luxury. The staff (receptionists, cleaners, waiters, bar staff), were all very polite, cheerful and keen to make everyones stay as pleasurable as possible. The food was magnificent... not only the quality and quantity but also the presentation. There was far more choice than was necessary, and very difficult to resist!! Forget your diet when you're there!! Cala Bona itself was quiet (which suited us perfectly), but plenty of shops, restaurants etc open. The next resort of Cala Millor (approx 25 mins stroll away), was busier but not as pretty as Cala Bona. For wonderful cocktails try La Tucanes bar/restaurant, just 2min walk from hotel on the seafront, and for a Cappucino to die for, try the beach restaurant opposite, and watch the world go by...fantastic!!! We didn't venture very far, as we were only there for a week, and our aim was to RELAX and we certainly did!! However, a trip on the glass bottom boat, to Porto Cristo was very enjoyable and great value for money. Only Criticism: Hotel beds are on the firm side to say the least!! Ants: Seems to be a problem with ants, but if you're sensible and don't leave food/drinks around in the rooms it shouldn't be a problem. A tube of ant killer in your suitcase might be a useful tip though!!! FINALLY.....The only part of the holiday which isn't going to cost a penny is courtesy!! Why is it that people seem to think that they can dispense with "please" and "thank you", when they are speaking to waiters and bar staff?? It made me cringe to listen to the way some people ordered drinks/food etc. These people work so hard to make our holiday memorable and enjoyable. Come on you Brits, don't let the side down by coming across as ignorant, impolite peasants.
Lovely hotel, brillian food

We have stayed in many hotels but none that prepared food so beautifully. The half board option is definitely worth going for - you could not imagine the food to choose from and all so imaginitively prepared and presented. The rooms were very clean and roomy. We went with our two children (12 and 8) and they soon made friends in the play area (albeit quite small). The swimming pool looked very inviting but it was a little chilly at this time of year (April) to take a dip - although some brave souls did. It would be a lovely hotel to visit in the summer with the family and I would recommend it. The resort in generaly was quite quiet at this time of year and lots of "holiday/seaside type shops" but the hotel and food more than made up for this. The staff were all really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our son had a birthday whilst on holiday and after enquiring where to buy a cake, one arrived by magic in our room along with a bottle of fizzy -lovely touch. Many thanks to Hotel Bonaire - you wouldn't be disappointed.
Great value for money

We've just arrived back from a week at the Bonaire Hotel staying from 18th - 25th April 2005. This is our first time to write a review for Trip Advisor - but we felt we had to confirm the great advice on this hotel we had received from the site prior to booking. The hotel is great value for money and there isn't one negative thing to say about it. The half board option is excellent with food service/quality/choice on both morning and evening meals to very good standard [and very clean!]. We brought out 5 year old on holiday who was very happy that coco pops were at breakfast - simalarly he did not have to eat 'nuggets and chips' for the week as there were plenty of 'creative' options for children i.e. potato wedges, grilled chicken strips, cheesy potatoes, grilled pork etc.. The whole hotel is really clean and seems to have been recently refrbished. The one bedroom apartments are very 'roomy' with microwave/fridge etc. and maid service 5 times/week. TV has kids cartoon channel as well as as a english news option. Ask for a room in block 4 for sun on balcony in the morning - or block 5 for sun in afternoon. Beach towels can be hired with a deposit from reception and one of the other useful facilities is the launderette which has great washer/dryers/ironing etc. The entertainment area/bar is good and despite being 'out of season' it rang nightly 'shows' and the bar staff were really friendly. We even joined in on one of the games/quizes [which we normally never do!] and had a great laugh. Drinks/cockttails were also reasonably priced. Kids club was fantastic - and again this bearing in mind they hadn't even started their Thomson superfamily timetable. The playground/sand-pit/pool etc is modern/clean and the indoor pool was great for swimming activities when the outdoor was chilly. Our son said it was the best kids club ever! Thomson reps were really helpful - we booked the Pirates show, which although an hours drive away is WELL worth the trip/money. Car hire to drive up to Pollensa, or to Porto Cristo also recommended. Cala Bona is a lovely port - quiter than Cala Millor which is a good 20 minutes walk further. The promenade is really nice to walk along - in fact the whole area is great for easy-walking [there were quite a few older people on our flight, and they loved facilities/area too]. The restaurants in both resorts are very reasonably priced with good selection. Beaches are immaculate - Cala Millor is huge with shallow sea-shelf ideal for kids. We normally make a rule of not going back to the same placve twice - but have to say, you could make an exception for the Bonaire.
Couldn't fault it if I tried

Myself and my girlfriend(both 25) have just returned from a weeks stay at the Aparthotel Bonaire in Cala Bona.Everything about our holiday and the hotel was absolutely suberb(except the weather!)The staff were magnificent from the receptionists through to the reps and bar staff and waiters and waitresses , so helpful and friendly. The apartments themselves were spacious and they all were very clean and tidy and all came with air conditioning. We went half board and the choice of food in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meals was out of this world, even the most fussiest of adults and children would be hard pressed to not find something they liked.Every night was different except for the basics like chips, sausages and pasta. The self service buffet had so many different types of fish , meats salads etc that we honestly coulnt force ourselves to go up enough times to sample everything every night! The entertainment for both kids and adults was also very good especially the bingo as we managed to win ourselves 363 euros in two nights! The rest of the entertainment and leisure facilities were also very good and the outdoor and indoor pools along with the jacuzzi, sauna, footballpitch/tennis court and indoor gym present a nice break from sunbathing.Although we went out of season there were still plenty of children there and their reps Wayne and Sara always kept them entertained and busy during the daytime activities and the nightly mini disco. The rest of the nightly entertainment was brilliant and it ranged from a music quiz and singers to a Russian circus act and a Spanish magician. The latter two left everyone who saw them speechless such was the quality of their acts.As well as the hotels entertainment Thomson also laid on a weeks worth of excursions to suit almost everyone, although we found some of them to be quite pricey we strongly recommend that if you only get to go on one excursion make it the Pirates show as it is out of this world and we will definitely watch it again when we return next year, every single child and adult who saw it when we were there loved it.As the hotel food was of such a high quality we didnt have to venture out to the harbour area of Cala Bona and the neighbouring Cala Millor to eat that often but there are loads of great bars and restaurants just a short walk away.We also recommend that you hire a bicycle or car or both as we did to explore the local area as there is plenty of breathtaking scenery to be seen and Palma is just 80 minutes away by car and Sa Coma which has a lovely beach is even closer! All in all we had a fantastic holiday and even met some freinds who we hope to return with again next year, the weather wasnt great for us but everything else sure was.

We went for 2 weeks in feb/march and have to say that the apartment was beautiful. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming especially Isobel. The entertainment is very good particularly the Broadway act- do not miss this- it is fantastic. Bar staff are excellent- look out for Oscar, plenty of cocktails including champagne cocktails. 'Coast to Coast' trip is excellent and we recommend catching the local bus to Porto Christo and coming back on the glass bottomed boat. We have nothing at all negative to say- we had a great time. Hard to fault
from jaze2
We had a week in this hotel February 2005 when the weather was very cold and wet. The hotel however was very warm and the food at £5 for breakfast and £8 for evening meal - both buffet - were fantastic, especially breakfast which included everything you could think of, even smoked salmon. The location is a bit out of the way but close to the beach and level walks into Cala Millor. The outdoor pool and facilities for children were excellent - too cold to try ! If I had a criticism at all it would be the indoor pool which was not very big and a dangerous design which would not be tolerated in England - underwater shelves and walls and rapid changes in depths. Staff all charming and helpful including the Thomson rep. Pity the hotel is entirely booked by Thomsonj so if you want to go you have to go with them and their very early flight times. Otherwise perfect !
WONDERFUL HOLIDAY
from A TripAdvisor Member
We recently stayed at the Bonnaire Aparthotel for a week and had a great time. The hotel itself was spotless, appartments were nicely furnished and clean. reps were all very nice and entertaining, plenty of pool side quizes (which we eventually won!). Cala Bona is fairly quiet but within easy reach of the livelier Cala Millor. There are plenty of resturants, mostly catering for British holiday makers. We hired cycles and took a trip to San Severa (about 2kms from Cala Bona - up quite a steep hill!). There is a good market on Fridays, well worth a visit. Would especially recommend to families, (our 12 year old son thoroughly enjoyed himself and made plenty of friends). We are planning to go back again next year.
Great hotel

What a great holiday, probably the best I've had in Spain/Majorca, hotel was great, a lot of things to do and the pool was large so that it never was never too crowded. I went with Dad, Mum and sister and they all enjoyed it as well. We never got a meal from the resteraunt but the food was great from restaurants around the harbour. I also came back on the 5th for a week, and around this time the weather was great. I would recommend anyone to go!
u will find it VERY difficult to fault this hotel.....

Just (4hrs ago!) from a weeks stay at this hotel, via Thompsons. Best holiday in ages - friendly/helpfull hotel staff, great reps', clean, great facilities and entertainment. If you don't have a great holiday here, you probably won't anywhere! As some movie actor said - 'I'll be back'!
Excellent Again!!

We have just returned from the Bonaire - our 3rd visit in 5 years. When we decided to take our baby grandson on holiday this year we knew the only place we would consider taking him to was the Bonaire. It has excellent facilities for families with young children (and older ones too). The accommodation is faultless as are the hotel staff. We pre-ordered a Mothercare cot, highchair and Heinz juice and baby food packs. All were waiting in our room when we arrived. Cot and Highchair were brand new and spotless. For those taking young babies - all rooms now have hand-blenders too. A bit of advice on baby milk: the only formula milk available in the shops is Aptamil. Pampers (Dodot) nappies and wipes readily available and Hipp jars of baby food. We recommend this hotel and guarantee you will have a superb holiday - go and book it before it is fully booked!! A tip - ask for a room overlooking the pool. We prefer Block 4 top floor!! Room 4303 overlooking the pool and sea view - beautiful. Phil,Lyn,Katy,James & Baby Henri
We've just returned from a 2 week stay (late August) at the Bonaire, with 2 kids aged 10 and 6. We were self catering, which is what we always do. Don't listen to any of the negative stuff on this place - it is absolutely first class. The Thomson team on site are excellent,... more
