Counting down the days to returning for the third time to this fab family holiday destination - adults and kids can't wait.
The children are entertained by the brilliant and friendly staff night and day which leaves plenty of time off for mum and dad.
The pool is spectacular and enormous so never too full and has areas to suit all abilities.
There is frequent entertainment poolside during the day to ensure the kids are never bored although they can't get enough of that pool anyway! Staff are great.
Accommodation is pleasant and it's worth buying the vouchers for the breakfasts sometimes if you're self catering as the food is great.
Cala Bona is a delightful harbour area which is especially nice for couples and families.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars but if you fancy something a bit livelier Cala Millor is a very pleasant walk away.
A useful tip is to book accommodation and flights separately with Thomson - we managed to save over £700 this year on last year's holiday. A tip passed on from a friendly holidaymaker last year.

Spent 2 fantastic weeks at the Bonaire in June & already planning to back there next yr. The hotel was everything we wanted. So spacious!
The pool was huge so never overcrowded. Plenty of room on the grass to either play games or sunbathe away from the pool area. The bar was great with nice snack food at lunchtime.
Thanks to the waiters there who work hard, friendly/happy & interact with everyone so well.
The hotel was clean & maintained well. So nice to see the hotel manager walking around checking all well & talking to holidaymakers. Swimming lessons were great & well worth it.
Evening entertainment was good, did especially enjoy Queen/ Madonna tributes, along with the Magic show. Reps worked hard from 11am-11pm, something always going on for all ages, from a quiz, football, water polo, kid’s games near stage etc...
Cala Bona is a lovely relaxing harbour, we enjoyed an evening drink at Panetosta pizza bar. There you relax on low cushioned benches, looking out at sea & watching the sunset, perfect!! Pizzas were lovely too!. Then back to the hotel for the evening entertainment.
The walk to Cala Millor is lovely along the paved promenade (about 20mins). You can get the little train or bus, but we enjoyed the walk. The beach there is a lot bigger...
We didn't go on any trips with the hotel, but we have been to see the Pirates show when in Majorca last time. Granted, very expensive, but really good.
The supermarket to go to is called Bip, as Spar (on harbour front) are more expensive. Bip is to the right of Bonaire 5mins walk down the main rd.
Roll on 2008!... Thanks to all at Bonaire.

Travelled to the Bonaire in Cala Bona for the third time in July 2006- going back in 2007.
What can I say, a lovely place if you have children. Really clean, very helpful staff, excellent entertainment, nice food, etc etc etc.
Kids clubs are great, my eldest enjoyed playing pool, tennis, cricket, water polo, taking part in the it’s a knockout in the pool and loads more.
Our two boys also loved the football coaching with Tottenham Hotspur which goes on during the 6 weeks school holidays, although how they played football in that heat I will never know.
Unfortunately it is not cheap to stay here but if you can afford it, go for it, I am sure you will enjoy it too.

The reviews show that you cannot possibly please all of the people all of the time, but make no mistake, people who complain about the Bonaire will be very much in the tiny minority.
Having just returned from 14 days at the Bonaire Aparthotel in a party of 2 adults and 2 children I am astounded that anyone could be critical of it.
The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, well appointed and cleaned 5 times a week. The fridge is plenty large enough for any self catering requirements and the kitchenette is just fine. Watch the video which includes some good views of the rooms, imagine them being cleaned 5 times a week and decide for yourself.
The "children's pool" is more of a paddling pool for toddlers. It is plenty large enough for its purpose but it is most certainly NOT designed for swimming! The swimming pool itself is huge and absolutely superb for any type of accommodation.
Any child of aged 5 or older would be able to stand up in the shallow end and younger kids are just fine anywhere if confident enough swimmers, or under adult supervision. You can also book swimming lessons for the children which were superbly run by trained coaches.
I was pleasantly surprised about the sun bed situation given some of the previous reviews. The only ones that went early were the ones by the paddling pool and the shallow end by parents wanting to keep a close eye on their kids.
I personally didn’t mind that at all and from what I saw with my own eyes there were still beds available in that area at 8:00am or later. Sun beds were available overlooking the pool on the grass a matter of yards from that location AT ALL TIMES of the day in my experience.
The hotel reception staff, the bar staff the Thomson entertainers and Kid Zone reps were all absolutely fantastic and it would take an especially miserable type to find otherwise.
I was also very pleasantly surprised by the number and diversity of the bars and restaurants in Cala Bona itself. Literally 2 minutes from the Hotel is the Pizzeria/Bar Panetosto with superb fresh cooked Pizza (the kids can happily share one and still be full) and a great bar area.
The next restaurant beyond that was also good with extremely friendly and fun staff, sorry the name escapes me. Only shortly further down is Chris which we went to a couple of times and were very happy with.
Beyond that we really liked the Café Nautic and the Thalassa bar at lunch for traditional Pa amb oli which were fantastic.
The 2nd best and most typical Mallorcan restaurant for us was the Vell Mari (Tony’s Bar) on the far side of the Harbour. The service and the quality of the food was exceptional and very good value for money.
Undoubtedly the best was the restaurant Sa Punte on the headland to the left of the Bonaire in front of the Sun Wing hotel. Booking is essential but you can book the day before without any problems. The food and wine are superb and it compares well with any quality restaurant in this country. The setting is perfect and the service excellent. It is a little more expensive but in my view absolutely worth it.
We didn’t do any Thomson organized trips as I just don’t think you get value for money from them. Some people swore Pirates was fantastic whilst others said it was the biggest rip off going. I think the other trips are overpriced and can be done more enjoyably under your own steam.
Overall the holiday gets 100/100 from us and our kids are desperate to go back to the same hotel next year.

Anyone who claims this hotel to be a 4 star is dreaming - please visit a proper 4 star and then you will realise you have been misled!
The rooms are very tired and in very desperate need of new furniture and painting.
The evening entertainment is nothing more than just annoying and a pile of rubbish. If you like smut, then you may enjoy the entertainment, but my 5 year old daughter certainly didn't. Constant jokes of an adult nature is not what I call "super family" fun.
The children’s pool is very very small and was full, even out of school holidays, so please don't expect your kids to be able to have a swim.
The entrance to the hotel is ok, but the garden areas and plant pots have even given up and died!
The bed linen has holes in, the bins are overflowing, the kitchenette in the rooms is very grubby and wouldn’t use. The bathrooms are smelly and very very old and the view from our balcony was of the rear of the hotel and skips - which were emptied in the very early hours of the morning leaving a rotten smell.
If you would like a sun bed, please be prepared to put your towels out before 6am.
The best thing about this dump is the coach leaving on the last day!

Just been to the Bonaire, perfect holiday for families, quiet area with town just 5 mins away.
Centre has plenty of bars and cafes - the best probably being the Rope & Anchor bar, The Waterfront & Janet & Johns, although nothing in the centre doesn’t open till gone 7:00pm.
The staff at the Bonaire are friendly and always happy to help. There are three main reps at the Bonaire, if you want anything done or want information ask the main rep called Lisa.
All in all the Bonaire is excellent and have just booked to go again in July.

Something we've never done before going to Bonaire, is return to the same resort or hotel/Apartments.
Bonaire is by far the best place we've been, anywhere. We've now been 3 times and intend to return this year.
Accommodation is excellent, area safe and food cheap and excellent too.
Cannot recommend Bonaire highly enough. You are guaranteed a great time, with kids or without.

Stayed at the Bonaire for a week in November 2006 and found it surprisingly good. We went as a family group of 5 adults and two children.
On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist and porter who took our bags to our rooms. We were allocated 2 rooms in block 2 on the second floor overlooking the countryside and with a distant sea view.
The apartments are very spacious and have good facilities if you are self catering, we were half board so didn’t use the microwave, toaster, etc.
The food at the Bonaire is excellent and far better than we expected: there was plenty of choice and it was different every night. The breakfast was also excellent, again lots of choice, including smoked salmon!. There is a kids buffet where they can go and choose their own meal, they provide plastic plates and cups and bibs for younger children.
The entertainment is very family orientated and there is a kids' disco at 8.00 pm every evening.
Location of the Bonaire is good, only a few minutes walk to the harbour of Cala Bona and slightly further to a nice beach.
Would highly recommend this hotel if you have children, the staff are great and nothing is too much trouble.

WOW WOW WOW!!!
Myself and a mate decided we wanted a last minute deal for a relaxing holiday (we are both 26) and decided on The Bonaire. As it was November we expected dodgy weather and not much atmosphere...we were wrong!!!
When we arrived we were very impressed with the room and then decided to lounge by the pool and outside bar with waiter table service (we will get onto them guys later), what more can you ask for.
Well, on the second night we met another two lasses and we spent the whole holiday together having the time of our lives! Cabaret acts 4 of the 7 nights (including 'Elvis' and an amazing magic show) and in the day there was entertainment and games.
The average age of the guests was about 60 BUT that didn’t stop us having fun and we made friends with many of them (they even showed us how to ballroom dance!)
I could go on and on about this holiday but I will finish by saying a HUGE thanks to Oskar and Dani (the very hard working and lovely waiters), Migel the bar manager who managed to make everyone laugh and to the reps who were great!
11 out of 10 and we are already planning our return trip!

Very good! We were there right at the tail end of the season, and it showed. The town was very quiet. The apartments were maybe only a third full, so there was no problem getting sun-loungers around the pool. We were in block 5 (there are 5 blocks; block 1 has reception; block 2 has the restaurant; block 3, block 4, block 5 all form a "circle" around the free-form pool). Every room has a balcony and we were on the ground floor. I think each block has lifts. There is an indoor swimming pool (quite small), there is a tennis court, volleyball court (sand), soft play area (for under 3's), pool tables, table-tennis (5 euro deposit for bats/ball).
The restaurant was very good, excellent buffet with a vast selection every night - and there was a children’s buffet area too (set lower).
The outdoor bar area served up the usual selection of food (which was equally as good) at lunchtime - and the waiters were very friendly, especially towards the youngsters (we have 3 and 5 year old boys). The town itself was really quiet (5 minute wander along the road), but most cafes were still running for evening meals (but don't go down until 7pm at earliest). We went out on a "glass bottom boat" for a run up the coast (one hour up, another hour back). Nice cliffs and scenery along the way.
There was a spar supermarket just two minutes down the road (towards the sea), but there was a larger supermarket another few minutes away if you turn right, instead of heading towards the sea.
Maybe the only criticism I could make would be the hour and a half mini-bus journey from Palma airport to hotel (it took one hour going back home).
Leaving to go home, we had to get out of the apartments at 7am (ouch) to get to the airport for a 10:30 flight, so it was quite tight once we had checked in and gone through passport control and the duty free, just 10 minutes waiting until we boarded!
All-in-all, I would recommend this resort to anyone with younger children, the reps were busy throughout the day/evening entertaining the youngsters!

The rep Jiggy Jamie is so nice and so is the waiter Dani at the bar. Wakky Wendy and the crew see us next year.
The rooms were nice and non depressing but one of the maids and one of the waitresses were grumpy.
We got told to stop making noise by the English rep at like midnight why does everyone there go to bed early? But we made it fun. Was so good.

What more can I say apart from fantastic.....
Stayed at the Bonaire for 10 nights with wife and 2 kids aged 3 & 5. Apartment was spotless and maid cleaned and changed all towels on a daily basis. With our balcony over-looking the pool the room was all we could ask for.
The Kidzone reps were fantastic along with the 3 entertainers during the day and evening ensuring you and the kids were always having a great time.
The pool area was large and not overcrowded. Swimming lessons cost 35 euros for 5x30 minute sessions and were worth every penny as my eldest was able to swim without armbands following the lessons. Thank you Ray !
Eating out in the evenings along the harbour made sure you had a fantastic view whilst enjoying lovely food. ( Would highly recommend Janet & John's restaurant, excellent food at reasonable prices and the waiters are excellent with kids ).
10 out 10 - can't wait for next year !
