We go back for New Year and the hotel is usually fully booked, although cancellations do occur. We book next years on the day we leave!
The Landenhof is a short walk from both the Penken and Ahorn lifts, but is situated at the end of a street away from the main road and avoids the noise of any late night revellers falling out of the nightclubs.
We used to stay in chalets, and when, for the staff's one day off we had to find our own evening meal we happened upon the Landenhof. The food is amazing.
We then enquired as to how much it was to stay and it was a lot cheaper than we expected for such a nice place.
The hotel is tightly run by the Familie Volgger who seem never to sleep, they will be there at breakfast and still serving at the bar at 1am!
The rooms are all ensuite, well appointed, and warm (too warm sometimes... but open the door on to the balcony if you prefer it cooler).
The boot/ski room is large and has ample space for skis and boards and heated boot/shoe racks
The staff are all friendly and will do everything they can for you. Although your learning a little German/Austrian will help a lot.
The food (it's amazing, did I mention that already?) each day is chosen from 3 options on the day's set menu. The food is mostly traditional Austrian fare, that means a lot of meat, but there are daily choices for any vegetarians. You may choose from the a la carte menu at a reduced price if you would prefer. On one day during the week you may choose from the a la carte menu at no additional cost. I would have to recommend the Huntsman's Platter and the Chateau Briand (for 2)
If the hotel is full then it is possible to stay at the Haus Kathrein which also belongs to the Familie Volgger. You can stay at Kathrein and make the 50 metre walk to the main hotel for breakfast and dinner. Kathrien is also available as self catering, but really with the food as good as it is... why would you want to!?
