We have stayed on the island for several years usually around the village of Lardos and also at the resort of Pefkos which are situated on the southwest of the island of Rhodes.Its very hot in August and air conditioning is a MUST! A lot of the hotels have gone all inclusive which my husband and I do not want, there are plenty of tavernas to eat in and we really enjoy Greek food! The best beach for shallowness and soft sand is Glystra on the way to Gennadi! There is a local bus service to all the resorts and I recommend a trip to Rhodes Old town they have an amazing selection of diet-breaking cakes in the coffee bars by Mandraki harbour! If you like boat trips you'll enjoy a trip to the island of Symi a very pretty place but be aware slap on plenty of sun cream it will be very hot if you travel in August. We visited a festival at Kremasti where there was a lot of the traditional Greek dancing. The hotel I have listed is near the Lardos Bay beach which is fairly stony but clean. The hotel itself is very clean beautifully run and very friendly we stayed there for the first time last year and hope to go again this year. I gave the hotel top rating it was everything we wanted we have always found the people very friendly and very helpful.
