My recent trip to North Yorkshire was greatly enhanced by choosing to stay at Cawthorne House.
A warm welcome, splendid, spacious, spotless ensuite accommodation, together with a superb breakfast in the morning, all contributed to a most enjoyable stay.
I thoroughly recommend it.

If you visiting North Yorkshire you MUST stay here! Cawthorne is a charming house, spotlessly clean with all the right touches such as lovely decor and accoutrements to make your stay a great experience, not forgetting to mention the fantastic shower in our bathroom!
Jayne and Steve, the new owners, have put a lot of time and thought into their home and make you very welcome from the moment you step through the door. I don't know where T Pickard stayed, but it certainly wasn't this Cawthorne House!
Breakfast too was absolutely delicious; Jayne uses local produce from Cedar Barn Farm Shop nearby and we were so impressed with the taste and quality we stopped off there on our way home to buy an assortment of their meat and vegetables.
All in all, a first class experience and we will definitely stay there again!

If you're looking for a superb place to stay in North Yorkshire, try Cawthorne House in Pickering. We're sure you won't be disappointed. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the new owners, Jayne and Steve, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The ensuite bedroom was beautifully furnished with a very comfortable bed. The recently re-fitted shower room was immaculate; clean with plenty of hot water. The hearty breakfast using local produce was delicious. Lots to do in the area including Dalby Forest and the North Yorkshire moors for walking. Central for York and the East coast too. Great value for money and we're sure to return.

We stayed at Cawthorne House on two occasions,2005 & 2006,I have been singing it's praises to all unsundry. It was a magnificent B&B,spotlessly clean, friendly owners,a beautiful twin room downstairs, the shower was huge with plenty of hot water, and the breakfast you would not get better anywhere. It is situated 2 miles from Thornton-le Dale.Pickering itself is a pleasant town, there are lot's of shops and pubs where you can get decent food.We are planning to visit again sometime this year.

Jun 2008, Mr GR Snowdon

I cannot believe T Pickard's comment. My wife and I stayed for four consecutive nights in November 2007 and we had no complaints whatsover. Our room at the front of the house was delightful, and both the room and the ensuite were spotlessly clean. We didn't see anything remotely resembling a cockroach. We did not take breakfast, so cannot comment on that.

The accommodation was appalling, the food and service dreadful. The rooms dirty and invested with cockroaches. I would not recommend anyone staying here unless they were desperate!!!!!
