We decided to visit Crete the last two weeks in octomber and to stay at Villa bellevue . It was definatly a right decision ,as we always try to avoid the busy, noisy beach hotels and over commercialised resorts . The staff at Villa bellevue were very friendly and showed us to our accomodation [It 's worth mentioning that we arrived very late ]which was very good , clean and suitably lightly furnished for a warm climate .They were always on hand ready to assist us if we wanted any advice . We arranged to go to the scuba and diving centre on the nearby beach, and to our delight ,the people who owned it came to collect us every morning . We loved wandering around and getting onto to the national road to take a bus and visit the places of interest [ not for people who hate walking, as there are many steep slopes -ok if they are renting cars ]and visiting the the lovely beach of Ligaria and the more cosmopolitan resort of Aghia Pelagia . It was a treat to return every evening to Villabellevue and to sit and relax with a drink on the balcony and enjoy the fantastic views of sea and mountains. What can we say - a very good holiday at a reasonable prices.

We stayed in villa bellevue 10 days in April 2008 .The hotel has the best view i have ever saw.
For a relaxed holiday, and for a flexible holiday villa bellevue is the perfect place to stay.
Also the hotel is in the centre Of Crete.
Next year we are planning to stay in villa bellevue again.

A lovely old couple run this place, along with very cute dog named Milly(?), it's a tiny bit dated but considering the price we thought it was a great little find, and had a wonderful holiday.
Pros: stunning views from our balcony, spacious room, comfy bed, great pool area, cooling breezes (due to it's commanding position on top of a cliff), lovely beaches, friendly staff, (free samples of their local wine!), taverna on site if you fancy an evening meal, and not far from Heraklion airport,(about 25km).
Cons: steep walk back from beach up a cliff (but I rather liked/needed the exercise), noisy fridge (built into kitchenette the thermostat makes a clunk sound when it cools down about every half hour, but got used to this after first night), no nearby grocery shops, (hire a car if you can!)
The only potential deal breaker for me were the neighbours dogs who barked all night long on a couple of occasions, which caused a few afternoon siestas...
Overall a lovely place to stay, so would recommend it highly
PS this place was very popular with German/Scandinavian families, so some kids might find hard to interact, but they were all very polite and respectful
