Poris is not the cliched Tenerife resort and is for those people who want some rest and relaxation. However, bring your phrasebook because I only met one person who could speak English.

Bahia Azul is a small development overlooking the sea which is independently owned in the main by German residents who let out the apartments directly. Our ground floor apartment has a view that helps you relax straight away, the patio area was very private and benefitted from the sun from 9.00 till 19.00.

This part of Tenerife is very quiet and away from the madding crouds, at night you can hear a pin drop. At the time of year we went there was only one bar open and the restaurant Casablanca in town opens only on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It is not the cheapest place but serves authentic Canarian/Spanish cuisine, try the Goat it is to die for!

Obviously a car is a neccessity but it is great to have the freedom to explore the various resorts on the island and view the interior; Mount Teide is another world and not to be missed.

This was our first trip to Tenerife we normally travel to France/Italy and Mainland Spain by car, but we are definately going back, hopefully to the same place next year for some early Easter sun.
