Stayed at the hotel christopherus late august 2008.Didn't know what to expect as read lousy reviews after booking.Arrived at 9:45 pm and was welcomed with a three course evening meal which was lovely. Our room was fine and very clean. It is a family run hotel with families in mind.It is an informal hotel so you donnot have wear formal dress for dinner. It is very well located. The disco over the road is being refurbished so was shut.Lovely garden to sit in if you have the time.Plenty to do in this resort if you like walking and there is an open and indoor swim pool which is only 10 mins away.Everything is within easy reach of the hotel. If you want the Ritz and want to pay their prices then donnot go here but if you want to feel relaxed in homely atmophere then go here. They do have a big soppy dog though, so if you are not into dogs don't go.You also get an early morning call at 6:45 from the church bells, so no lie in,but with so much to do it's welcome.Personely speaking we are hoping to back next year.

If you are going there skiing and you are young at heart aswell as years I should imagine you would have a fantastic time.

We went to Soll , Austria for our summer holidays and stayed at Chisrtophorus Hotel for a week ,half board. We had a very pleasant stay. Austria is certainly a very beautiful country with breathtaking scenery. Christophorus hotel is a average hotel, with basic provisions. Its a family run buisiness. The first day we had problems with blocked drainage at the bath, which was sorted out immediately. The breakfast was basic [ two varieties of cereals] however the service was prompt and clean. We had a person who was vegetarian in the group. The hotel catered to the need of vegetarian. I think the place was good value for money. The only negative comment that I would make is that professionalism was there, cleanliness was present....It would have helped to see more smiling and welcoming faces.

I booked my holiday to the Christophorus in June 2007 having read all about this 3 star family run hotel, well located in Soll, with 19 guest rooms having balconies, a friendly well run hotel. I was even told by the First Choice booking rep that I had a good deal with the price that I was paying for my wife and myself.

All in all things looked very good, that was until we arrived. After a 3 hour delay with Thomson fly, we arrived at our hotel at 11-30pm; we were given a plate of rock hard bread and curled over cheese and cold meat. We where then shown to room number 20. Remember this hotel has 19 guest rooms in brochure and on web site. But we got number 20, which was at the highest point of the old and tired looking building next door to what appeared to be the owners large living quarters, with a large sounding growling dog, somewhere within.

This room shown to us was what must have been the owners store room, but to make more money, they had created a bijou bathroom which had a shower, sink and toilet (no extractor fan), and a small bedroom which contained a double bed, wardrobe jammed up against the bed so that you had to climb over the end of the bed to get in to one side of it, banging your leg in doing so. There was a small table and two chairs jammed into this storage area also.

The only window in the whole space was a fan light type of window, which you could not open because it was right above the bed and it was raining, and if you opened the window the bed got soaked. It was like a prison cell, and after paying well over £600 pound for a week at this hotel we were expecting a little better than this and were very upset about the state of this room offered to us, but due to the late hour were unable to do anything.

Next day made complaint about room, hotel staff basically couldn’t be bothered, so went to welcome meeting with "Crystal" rep and made strong complaint to him, but basically after he spoke to the owner of the hotel Brigitte Troger he could do absolutely nothing. What a waste of time these reps are. In fact the Crystal rep told us that we would have to sort it out ourselves with First Choice because it is their fault.

My wife and I had to pay another few hundred pounds out and book into another bed and breakfast hotel. We had to take our evening meals at the Christophorus hotel, we found that out of 6 meals, 3 were passable and 3 where disgusting. You have consume these meals in a room which is constantly full of smoke from persons sitting around the bar area, these are not guests but are friends of the owners. They are allowed to sit and drink and smoke in the bar / restaurant area all the time. You have to eat quickly and leave because of the smoke, its all quite disgusting.

A couple of guests did ask the owner if they could eat somewhere where there was no smoking, but they were told quite abruptly, "no ". One of the owners friends also brought a large smelly dog in the bar area with them. We also discovered that this hotel might list themselves as being 3 stars, but in reality they have no official star rating. We spoke to several other people who arrived at the hotel around the same date as us, they were all charged less money than we were, but they all had rooms with balconies, and they had all been given an extra charge to upgrade their room to a balcony room.

All rooms of the 19 listed in brochure have a balcony only the extra store room listed as number 20 is without a balcony and they had already given it to us, so why did they charge everybody else upgrading money. This is a family run, money grabbing hotel; I would not recommend it to anyone wanting a good holiday.

This hotel came as something of a shock after the great accommodation I had last year in St. Johann with a big double room and large bathroom loads of space.

In the Christophorous I got a room which I had hardly enough room to unpack my bag.

The room wasn't clean either with hair in the shower and the sheets were dubious to say the least. I tried to pull the curtains when I arrived and they fell down. When I complained they were fixed by sticking a wad of toilet paper in the gap, hardly what the usual high standard for Austria.

The bathroom/toilet fan went on when the light was switched on as expected but stayed on for a very long time after the light was switched off. This was annoying after a while.

The worst aspect of this hotel was its position in Soll.

As the brochure points out it is in "lively" area of Soll. This means it is right beside one of the noisiest bars in Soll which has people shouting and screaming every night until the early hours of the morning.

After two days and no sleep and constant complaints to the Topflight rep I had to move out. I stayed in a pension a short distance away run properly with a lovely clean room and bathroom, as you would expect.

Topflight were generally of the attitude tough what did you expect. The only "compensation" offered when I returned to Ireland was to repay me for the money I spent on the pension.

Their attitude was very unsatisfactory stating that sometime standards in Austria vary.

It’s still in their brochure for 2008! Beware it is very sub-standard for Austria and a short distance away for the same price you can do lot better.
