Delightful Hotel - Delightful Town
from Mayo Gal
We spent three nights at the Aetoma Hotel in early October. We booked the Akrokeramo Room at the top of the hotel and found it delightful. It is a large room with a nice bathroom, and privacy. We really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast that is brought to the terrace whenever you are ready each morning. And the view from the terrace as the lights come on the Palamidi in the evening is spectacular. Kerry was particularly helpful with dinner recommendations. All in all a wonderful place.
Lovely people - lovely hotel
from sillymeireland
We stayed in the Aetoma for 3 nights in Oct 07. We were lucky to get the Akrokeramo room at the top - spacious patio with wonderful views. Beautifully presented breakfast served until late on patio. The location is perfect. One possible problem for some people might be the stairs to the top floor. Overall I would rate the hotel as delightful.# Middle aged couple from Ireland.
Classy Accomodations
from buford4328
We stayed here for 2 nights in early September. We anticipated it to be beautiful from the reviews we read before we got there and we weren't disappointed. It was all we hoped it would be. The room was beautifully decorated with a balcony overlooking the road/alley below. The staff was very accomodating and the breakfast was wonderful, more than we could possibly eat each morning. The location was excellent, very easy to walk to everything downtown. We highly recommend this hotel. Tony & Tammy Atlanta, GA.
A real nugget in the Peloponnese
from flynnteam
The Aetoma is a real jewel! This little inn has been in the family of the owners for over 160 years! It was remodeled recently and is just lovely with all the amenities you could ask for - well-appointed, roomy, very comfortable bed, balcony, clean, flat screen tv, hot shower with multiple heads, internet service, air conditioning and an enormous and tasty breakfast every morning - and it is set in a perfect location, in walking distance to everything! The owner's family was so helpful and very accomodating to every need - even surprised me with a bouquet of flowers when they heard it was my birthday! It far surpassed the hotel we stayed in in Athens, which was listed as a 4 star hotel! We highly recommend this inn and hope that one day we may return to the beautiful Peloponnese!
Marvelous Family-run Inn
from CAAardvark
We spent 3 nights at a wonderful family-run small hotel in Nauplion, Greece. With only 5 rooms, it's more of a bed & breakfast. And oh, what a breakfast! Fresh-baked pastries (including the best filled doughnuts ever), cereal, juice, fruit (canned), meats, cheeses, etc. Personal service and recommendations. Recently renovated, in the charming old town.
Really incredible!
from temporarysanity
It's a little difficult to find -- but what an incredible place! Absolutely beautifully appointed restored mansion with five rooms (the owner was born in one of them). The attention to detail in the decor and the warm, personal service was amazing -- even more so because the price was extremely reasonable. Good air conditioning even in a record-setting heat wave, wonderful breakfast included in the price, room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and beautiful. Bathroom was a little small for three people -- but that didn't take away anything from the experience. The service was extraordinary...they moved their personal car so we could park conveniently, they gave us breakfast early the day we left so we could get on the road, let us use their computer free of charge to get directions to our next destination, recommended good places to eat, etc., etc. I wish we could have stayed longer than two nights. I agree with the other reviews posted -- this is one of the best places I've ever stayed (and I've travelled quite extensively in Europe). The only minor inconvenience was in the booking process...I contacted them directly and they were very responsive - but I had to send credit card details by fax to hold the reservation.
Wonderful Experience!
from karla87
This hotel is very modern with a wonderful shower, great AC and a comfy bed. Pan and Carrie took great care of us. They also offer wireless which was handy for booking addtl jaunts of our trip and they served us breakfast on the verranda. I recommend the top floor suite which has a great view of the castle and its own private verranda which is very large. I will visit again!
Super!

This small, family operated hotel is a wonderful place to stay at a decent price. The family takes care of you in everyway they can. Room is clean and well equipped. It is a gem in the town.
A gem, indeed
from neuhoftraveler
We stayed 3 nights at the Aetoma during Enjoyitwhileyoucan's more extended visit. [If you're still reading TripAdvisor, Ms. E, Hello, there -- Glad your deposition finally ended!] Everything she says is true. We've never stayed at a better boutique hotel, anywhere. Our large, queen-bedded room was on the opposite side of the building from hers, overlooking a quiet little square behind the neighborhood church and opposite a 16th-century Turkish wall fountain from the Ottoman occupation. The morning and evening churchbells merely completed the idyllic ambiance. On a more practical note, the square also offers a few precious parking spaces, right at the Aetoma's doorstep -- unlike most or all of the many other inns/B&B's in the neighborhood, some of which are not even reachable by car because their streets suddenly turn into staircases. The Aetoma's owner, Pangiota Antonopoulou, is the nicest hostess you'd ever want to meet, as as Carrie, the British-expat part-time evening receptionist. who even volunteered to run a necessary errand for us during her off-duty time while we were out on a sightseeing daytrip -- and wouldn't even accept a small gratuity for it. And, as with Ms. E, Pangiota was happy to serve breakfast for us early on the day of our departure so we could get an early start for Delphi across the Gulf of Corinth. The building was Pangiota's family home, where she was born. She's painstakingly restored and refurbished it, in exquisite taste. Her love for it shines through in every detail. One would be lucky to live in such a place. This definitely includes the positively decadent shower with body-massage water jets, a top-of-the-line (Grohe) bath fixture. Don't know about you, Ms. E, but we're going shopping for one soon. As Ms. E and others have said, Nauplion is a perfectly charming town, a pleasure to stroll about in, and evidently a bustling vacation or weekend spot in season. The street along the waterfront is lined with the immense shaded sidewalk terraces of what must be a dozen tavernas, some primarily bars and others offering good taverna meals. (Unfortunately the town has devoted most of the waterfront side of that street to parking, but at the north end the cafes are right on the water. Go down to one at day's end, order some of that good Greek wine, and watch the sun set over the little fortified island in the harbor.) Lots of other restaurants are on the little streets behind the waterfront. All this is a 2 or 3-minute walk from the Aetoma. If you're an Italian gelato addict, don't miss the Roma Gelato shop, a block or two back from that end of the waterfront. Like Ms. E, we'd go back to Nauplion and the Aetoma in a heartbeat.
a beautiful boutique hotel
from BeechMarlborough
On recommendation of Trip Advisor booked to stay at the Aetoma for 2 nights in mid June. We were not disappointed. Carey on reception was very helpful - she is English but has lived out in Greece for many years - Our room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was a feast - spreading over 2 tables. The hotel is very centrally located so it is easy to stroll everywhere, but away from the busy and slightly noisy waterfront. We would certainly stay there again.

My wife and I – both middle-aged, seasoned business and leisure travelers (more than 60/70 hotel nights per year) – spent three nights at the Aetoma Hotel in February 2008. We loved it and wholeheartedly recommend it. We bypassed the service companies offering bookings... more
