We went for a "Bride-to-Be" Pamper...

We went for a "Bride-to-Be" Pamper Day at Champneys Spa in Leicestershire - Bride, bride's mum and 3 bridesmaids. The pool, steam and sauna and food were good. When it came to treatments we were very disappointed. We had booked a massage, manicure and makeover. The treatments were supposed to be 25 mins each. Some of our group only had 15 mins as the beautician was running late. The manicure for most consisted of just a nail polish, one of the French Polishes had flaked off before we reached home, and for one member of the group the makeover lasted for just 15 mins and he never told her what he was using on her face or consulted her on any part of the session, and was quite rough in applying it (obviously a bit rushed).
On reporting this to the reception staff, they very kindly offered us Champney gifts instead of the treatments which was very much appreciated.
Overall, it was a lovely day in that we were able to be together and relax but very disappointing that the amount of money we paid for the treatments did not reflect the quality of them.
The staff in the cafe and restaurant were very pleasant and helpful, it is a shame that the beautician's giving the treatments were not given more time to give better attention to their clients.

I've been to Champneys Springs twice....

I've been to Champneys Springs twice. I don't know how it compares to other Champneys resorts - this one was quite small. The grounds are not big either (there is a pathway and a pond), so especially in colder months you would probably spend most of your time indoors. The most gorgeous thing about this place is the food - all inclusive and all superb. Wine can be a bit expensive, as they don't want you to drink. There is a cafe with cofee and chocolate to satisfy those cravings if you must. The swimming pools in quite small, there is a sauna and steam room - all very nice. The treatments I found to be very similar to what you get in a highstreet beauty salon, but the service is good. The rooms are cosy, not very modern, more traditional. Everybody walks around in slippers and gowns all day, except for dinner, which somehow puts you in a relaxed mood. There are talks on almost every night about yoga, relaxation, tai chi, nail care - that kind of stuff.
Great for a very relaxing, quiet, contemplative break - I would go a lot more if they didn't charge so much.
