May 2011, hangrenade

not long back from a week long stay in the arimar apartments, is was a pleasant stay, apartments were rather small and seen 2 every second day with fresh towels, beds were made however sheets were not changed! reception is only open for a few hours in the morning and then again in the afternoon, which is unfortunate as i had arrived after 7pm therefore had 2 wait on a person 2 arrive with my apartment key, however reception staff were very helpful!! the pool was relatively clean althought there wasnt many people stayin there at the time so the pool wasnt used that often. pool bar is a major let down, overall appearance is awful, run down shack, closes at 7pm and has a few live in cats so isnt appealling at all the even think of ordering food or drink from. location is fine, straight walk down 2 the shopping centre but i'd advice 2 get a taxi (which doesnt cost very much at all) back up as it is abit of a hike.

The apartments are filthy, small (we had 2 bed)and shabby. Beds were changed only once in the 2 weeks, we had to ask for clean towels. Pool is small, pool bar (if that's what you can call it)only sells drinks (limited) and greasy food, no ice cream and the kitchen area is also filthy. Nothing for children to do there. There are 257 steps to climb from the centre to the apartments easier to get a taxi back. The beaches are lovely. A must to take a boat trip to Mogan on a Friday (market day). Water park was fun. Eating out is expensive.
I would also advise you take ear plugs, the night life started about midnight and didn't stop till 5 am and although you seem a way off it is loud.

hi all just got back from a 2 week...

Aug 2008, Mrs S Odonnell

hi all just got back from a 2 week holiday at the arimar , felt so let down by the apartment, we arrived at about 12.30 midnight, no one there at reception it was all locked up had to wait until security showed up and was not a bit helpful when he did ,he grunted at us to follow him ,68 stairs later we got to our apartment number 44, after a great struggle with all our luggage , no lifts no help either, he just left us there didnt say a word didnt show us around.we were also greeted with loads of cockroaches and ants, the room was very run down and the cleaners (maids) left a lot to be disired, basic amenities,no toaster,in 2 weeks our bed rarely changed unless u can call the bottom sheet moving to the top a change then that was it. changing the towels was only just a little better.the reception staff when u did manage to see anyone were very unhelpful, didnt open until 9.00 then closed again at 12.30-1.00,reopened at 4.00-6.30-7.00 ish whenever they felt like being there it seemed.no hotel entertainment or bbq night as advertised, the only person we saw on the complex was at thee so called bar / restaurant... cafe more like... however the lady who works there is fairly nice never got to find out her name though.dont relay on the mini market as it only has about 10 items in the on/off reception area,we had a late flight but had to check out for 12.00 noon, we had to pay 30 euro to keep our room on until 7.30 as there was no holding area for your cases, and again because the staff leave at 7.00 we had to leave our key in a box.our pool area was never cleaned most of the sunloungers were broken, the tiles around the pool were broken, and there was a scum around the edge of the pool water, peurto rico is a nice place however it looks tired and in need of a fresh look, the daytime activites werent as available as we hoped or advertised, much attention is based upon there new attraction at anfi beach which is lovely and worth a vist, but overall lovely yet expensive, there is some good nights out to be had also try...cafe mambo at europa
el bresero restaurant ... excellent! at the harbour try italian .. volare.. and at the shopping centre try la fiesta for a fun night maggie mays for kareoke... if thats ur thing! and a great place to eat there is el pescadaro. stay away from the mr.bean lookalike restaurant poor food! have fun but avoid arimar!

Main thing we were not told is that...

Main thing we were not told is that it was very close to the shopping mall, we thought this would be ok until we realised loud music went on till the early hours as the night clubs are in the bars in the mall.
reception staff only seem to be available occasionally and no one can be found after 9.30pm rooms not particulary pleasant. steps very high diffult for even the children to negotiate at times, apart from that puerto rico is a lovely place with plenty to do. would look for a quiter apartment complex next time now I know the area
