Honeymoon in July. We had a Junior Suite and it was fabulous. The whole hotel was wonderful with plenty to do and so many activities included in the all inclusive option. All the staff were very attentive without being over-powering. We used the tennins courts, gym,... more

It was without doubt the worst night we have ever had in a hotel. There is a club (part of the hotel) below the guest rooms that goes on until 5:30am so don't expect to get a moments sleep until then. The "double" room has a three quarter(!!) size bed with springs that jut... more

Nice hotel, lovely location
For our long weekend in Brighton we wanted a nice hotel on the seafront which wasn't too expensive but still a bit of a treat. Legends fitted the bill perfectly. Our room was quiet and well presented with a fantastic view of the sea and people walking up and down the promenade. Although it's a new hotel it had a nice romantic feel to it. In the corridors there are lit pictures of Hollywood movie stars from the 50's which is a nice touch. On the ground floor is the main bar which is really pretty. During the day the bar isn't too busy which was really nice for us, and the outside terrace is lovely to sit and have a drink and a bite to eat. The hotel is really well located for everything in Brighton. There is a nearby high street with lots of arty shops, and about 10 minutes away on foot are the Laines and the main shopping areas. And Brighton is just full of bars and carfes and restaurants, you can't go wrong really. The hotel also has its own nightclub which is really quite cool given that it's not a huge hotel. It's in the basement. We were expecting something really small with very low ceilings etc, but actually it's huge! There's loads of posh seating and a nice dancefloor, and pretty neon lights everywhere. It's big enough such that away from the dancefloor you can sit and have a conversation. The staff at Legends are friendly and efficient - it's not 5 star but for the money we're paying it's fine. We'll definitely come back.
Stayed on a Monday night!
Hotel has been refurbished in the last year! All staff were excellent, room was ok, quite small but adequate for a business overnight stay. Busy bar area, especially as Dave Lynn was performing that evening. Went downhill a bit when the fire alarm went off twice during the night, both false alarms thankfully!, and the disco went on til 4ish, which you could hear unfortunately. To sum up - probably good to stay for a weekend, when partying is on the agenda, but for a business night, maybe not the best place to stay!
OK, but could be a lot better
Just stayed for 3 nights in a luxury room, room large but very bland, it needed an armchair & more art work. Web site said there were room safes, not in the room we had. Shower room was far to small, only suitable for small or thin people. Our room was not even serviced the 1st day !!!!!!, had to ask for toilet rolls at the bar when we returned that evening. Breakfast was very good, but served in the bar with flashing lights and large screen TV's played through a sound system that was far to loud. A major problem is no Wi-Fi Internet access, in fact there is no internet at all !!!!!, when I asked at reception I was told to use an internet cafe, in this day & age !!!!!. Staff OK, not very friendly. We would not recomend this hotel or stay here again.
Management response from LegendsMO 23 Nov 2007

We are grateful customers take time to make comments on this website, however we feel this review is unfair so we'd like to address the comments: Room décor: Some rooms do not have a lounge area; this is stated on our website. Artwork is a matter of taste so we don’t overload it. Safes: We stated that these rooms did not have safes; however safes are now being installed in all luxury rooms to avoid confusion. Shower room: The showers are standard sized and similar to those found in most hotels. However customers can book rooms with a larger shower and bath if they require it. Service problems: Staff tried to service this room several times but were told to go away. If a customer is busy during the day they can call reception for a service until 6pm. Breakfast area: Breakfast is served in an area which is lit mainly by daylight and some soft lighting. These lights do not flash and we do not allow flashing lights or loud music at this time of day. WiFi Internet access: As a mainly leisure hotel we believed this wasn’t necessary however due to users comments we are now installing WiFi which will be live by December 2007. Staff: In our experience most customers expect our staff to be friendly while respecting privacy and customers boundaries. Our staff treated these customers with the utmost respect at all times. I hope that addresses the above comment. Thank you for taking an interest in our hotel.

ab fab new look to this hotel
the hotel has undergone a complete makeover recently and what a transformation it is. ghetto fabulash. hotel excellent, staff v v friendly nothing too much trouble will definately stay again
Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel. The hotel and all the rooms have been recently refurbished, everything was clean. We had a luxury side room. This was in a good location and would stay again. It would be good if you could access the hotel without walking through the bar, but that may be just a little picky. Staff were very polite and helpful. We stayed last weekend. This was a good hotel to stay in for straight couples as well as gay.
great stay
stayed here a couple of weeks ago read very mixed reviews so was a bit worried . shouldn`t have been hotel is very fresh everything new as recently refurbed. great bar downstairs rooms : went with friends so all had different rooms . i had possibly the smallest room ever however it was all new spotlesley clean housekeeping was very good flat screen tv and best of all £25 per night . breakfast was Huge very good value . the other rooms were all same standard of decor new and neutral , one friend had the luxury loft room which really was trendy and luxury a great standard for a gay hotel others could learn from it . overall nothing to grumble about great value and high standards
Loved the atmos
We have just come back from spending a weekend at Legends Hotel, Brighton. We had an excellent stay. The hotel was refurbished in Oct/Nov last year and is very funky looking, with photos of old movie stars around the walls. Legends Hotel is an exclusively gay hotel, but I went with a hen party and we had a wicked time. All the staff were really friendly, the atmosphere was great for a party weekend. We stayed in a double luxury boutique room which was really nicely decorated with neutral walls and carpet with a bit of colour thrown in with the curtains and bed spread. The room was a nice size, some friends stayed in a double luxury which wasn't very big but still nice. There were tea, coffee, hot chocolate facilities in the room which is great for the morning with a hangover. The bathroom was tiny, but adequate and has been done out lovely. There was also a flat screen television on the wall. Our room was £90 a night with breakfast included and god, the cooked brekky was to die for. The bar downstairs was quite happening, as long as you don't mind being surrounded by gay men and women there is an awesome atmosphere. We also ventured into the basement club which played great music, madonna, Kylie, stuff you can have a sing and dance to with all your girlfriends. We were so in the thick of things it was only a two minute walk to The Lanes where you can shop till you drop and also to all the other pubs and clubs. If you are going to Brighton and want a great hotel, which is right on the sea front, with lovely, trendy, clean rooms, great brekky and great staff and isn't too expensive, then this is the place for you. they had no problem with us being a hen party of 13 and we had a great time.
Dreadful
Myself and my partner decided on a weekend break in Brighton. We decided on the New Europe Hotel at £60 a night for a double room with breakfast. Our first impression of the room was that it wasn't very clean. We had a fantastic view of the sea and Brighton Pier ... well it would have been a great view if the windows had not been so filthy. We were advised it was ok to park the car on the steet directly outside the hotel. Next morning the car was about to be towed away and we got a £30 parking fine. Whilst booking the hotel by telephone I was informed the total price of the room included the entrance fee to a local night club. This turned out to be untrue. There was a concession but it was not totally free entrance. The breakfast was unsubstanstial as the chef was unable to cook eggs. They were fried so hard they had a powdery consistency and left a bitter aftertaste. Never again.
Great Hotel - Friendly
Having stayed at many gay hotels in the UK we would recommend the New Europe as probably the best. We have stayed there several times; pay the few pounds extra for the seafront rooms and you get a bay window with amazing sea views. The standard of accommodation is better than many 3 star hotels. The staff are very friendly, the rooms and public area are always immaculate. Our favourite thing is the wonderful breakfast which is better than any we've had. They also offer both in house bar and nightclub facilities which are quite busy. However we didn't hear any noise from our second floor room. Definitely worth the money! We'll most certainly be going back.
Terrible service and unhelpful manager
We have stayed at the hotel on many many occasions, and have found it to be ok, the rooms can be very small and expesive for what u get, if you dont mind used old condoms outside your window on the top floor, the view is just of the sea at the side and a view over an open plan bar/bbq across the road, the only reason why we stay is because of the leather club downstairs, however you still have to que outside to get into it, even if you are a guest and paying there rip of prices. We just got back tonight after the 2 hour jouney there to find yet again one of the so called trained staff botched up a booking and we had no room, this is the 2nd time this has happend and the so called manager was sorry but basicly could not give a toss, we strongly recommend that you sepdn your money else where and AVoid this place, the only good thing there is the breaky, but at these prices for a shoe box room and a shower i thought was a bidet, and the mould in the so called bathroom, i think you could find somwhere 10 times nicer futher down the front for possibly a few pounds more, which is clean AND CARING TO the customers.
Excellent little inn
My partner and I booked at New Europe on the advice of an English hotelier retired to Florida. We had only one overnight for Brighton, and on a Monday not much was happening in this resort, club wise. But it was a relaxing spot, with a central waterfront location, pleasant staff, large, comfortable room with a very good shower. Also a well-done breakfast. The bar draws a friendly, informal crowd of locals. The 11 p.m. lock-up of the outside door was a bit of a nuisance -- one time it took about 5 minutes for someone to answer the bell. Otherwise no complaints. If we get back to Brighton someday, we would stay here again.
