Bhumiyama Beach Resort

A solid 3 star, possibly stretching to 4, modern hotel set at the quieter end of Koh Chang.
The serivce level was very good for what we paid - helpful reception staff, who watched our bags whilst we waited for our room to be ready.
The room itself, a first floor upgraded room, had a good 4 poster bed with ensuite bathroom, located partially under open skies, which was lovely (in good weather!).
A short walk from the building brings you to the main pool which sits in the centre of all the buildings - there are just about enough sunbeds to go round, but you may have to collar a porter to bring you one over if you need a few located together. This hotel is heavily booked by Germans who did live up to their stereotypical image of early bagging of the best located beds whilst we stayed!
Beyond the pool and sunbeds lies a really good beach where you can have a swim, hire a canoe and paddle around.
The food was only just 3 star standard. A standard buffet style breakfast , with very uninspiring lunch menu. We did not try the evening food because the restaurant lacked atmosphere in our opinion.
We took a stroll along the beach and found a superb thai restaurant populated by travellers, where you sit cross legged on the wooden floor , sampling some of the best food we ever encountered in Thailand, for barely 50 pence a dish. Very much the highlight of our stay at this hotel was finding this nearby restuarant. However familes/children would not necessarily feel comfortable dining here due to the heavey dominance of young travellers that haunt this place in every corner.
