Decided not to book with the tour operators as they all wanted you to take the half board option, and all previous reviews had said the food was disgusting, so checked the internet and found Balkan-pms.com. Stefan, our contact, communicated via email and arranged the apartment (he owns it), transfers and ski packs/lessons. We paid on arrival (after securing the apartment with a small deposit) and nothing was too much trouble. The apartments are a year old, very warm, a jacuzzi bath (great for those aching muscles at the end of the day) loads of storage/wardrobe space, a cleaner daily and even a king size bed!
Our instructor (George of Hunters Ski) was excellent and the highlight for us was ski-ing 3000m from the top of the mountain back to resort. Our group progressed really well with George and he certainly enjoyed the english humour!
Very cheap for food/drink, but take LEV or STERLING (which can be changed commission free in resort). The only downside is all the touts vying for business outside all the eateries, but everyone is friendly and is not offended if you choose not to eat in their restaurant (but they still try and entice you the next day and the next!). This is a good resort for beginners/intermediates and very good value for money.
