Absolutely Agree. What a place. From the moment we walked around the corner we found paradise! It was different from anywhere we've stayed before. I could really get used to the outdoor lifestyle and sat here in England following a cold bank holiday weekend I just wish we were there. We spent most of our time lazing around the place enjoying the views and wildlife from our balcony, interspersed with dips in the jacuzzi and beautiful pool. Our only complaint is that we couldn't drag ourselves away to explore Goa a bit more. We also stopped in Mumbai for a couple of nights on the way there and that was certainly an experience to remember, although not sure if I'd do it again, probably best to fly direct to Goa.

My girlfriend and I went for 2 weeks to Goa in the middle of April- we managed to get dirt cheap flights (less than £250!) So thought we would treat ourselves on the accommodation. I always fancied staying in Villas instead of a hotel or beach resort and liked the look of Coco Shambhala from the web. We weren’t disappointed, the place is fantastic- very romantic and peaceful. I know “tropical paradise” is a bit of a cliché- but that’s as best I can describe it- lush swimming pool a few steps from your door- private jet pool- very stylish décor- the works! I went “travelling” round Goa back in the early 1990’s – and was reluctant to go back, fearing that its turning too much like a Magaluf type package resort. Yet with splashing out a bit on staying at Coco Shambhala we had the luxury of a being a top class villa and being away from the main tourist beach you can still see real village life nearby- eat the freshest fish at the ultra friendly-ultra cheap- simple local shacks or have a 5min drive out to some of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at. It was painful to have to leave and we are already arranging a trip back this winter.

Absolute paradise ! Coco Shambala is a private development of four stunningly beautiful villas set within a two acre walled garden nestling in the heart of the village. Each property looks out over the fabulous jungle river swimming pool which is surrounded by the most exotic plants and folliage. The whole development has a wonderfully tranquil and relaxing spirit about it, making the ideal location to escape the rat race of normal everyday life! Every villa has its own uniquely designed private garden and jaccuzzi area, as well as everything you could possibly need inside. You can even sample the calming delights of a full Indian body massage in the gardens own palm roofed room. Watch the fascinating wildlife within the garden, brightly coloured birds and butterflies transfix you, or follow the villagers path to Coco beach and watch the vividly coloured fishing boats coming in with the afternoons catch!
Lots of fantastic places to eat nearby in Candolim, try After 7 for that special evening or the newly opened Posh for breakfast or lunch. Other different places all with their own qualities include Golden Eye, Pescadors and Kebabs and Curries to name but a few. Must give Amigos under the bridge at the side of the Mandovi River a mention, the setting was so basic but the fish so fresh and delicious! You can even take a bird watching trip down the river from here. Finally, a visit to Lilas cafe is a unique opportunity to people watch within a white tented veranda and enjoy a continental breakfast with a Goan twist.
Lazy Days looked after us very well, keeping everwhere beautifully clean and making sure we had everything we needed. Our driver Baba was excellent always there promptly whenever we called, willingly taking us out or fetching supplies in.
