The accommodation itself was very basic but clean. The facilities were not really very good such as the elevator cud only fit about 3 people in and seemed very old. However the staff at the hotel were very helpful and the reception was open all night which was very handy.

Lisbon as a city itself is very nice, the setting itself is awesome with many great buildings and archways. A must see at some point in everyone’s life. It is also one of the most accessible places I have been to with a metro subway that runs from one end to the other incorporating both the main shopping centre with the other main parts of the city. A particular point of interest is the benfica football stadium known as the stadium of light it is very impressive on the eye.

As for local bars and restaurants if you head into the central part of the city there are many to choose from and this is only a few stops away on the subway. The food was ok at the few different places we tried and the Portuguese beer is very nice, especially the super bock brand. However the downside to all this in the main part is the amount of beggars and tramps who constantly mither you. I do not mind donating to the odd few but it was every 5 minutes even when we were eating. Furthermore as it gets later the amount of these people about can be worrying as some of them were quite abrupt and loud.

In conclusion the plus sides to such a beautiful city do outweigh the negative factors and a trip at some point in your life would be advised if only to see some of the buildings and architecture. All in all this was a nice break.
