Having just returned from a short break at the Benalmadena Palace I would comment that the Hotel and especially the grounds are nice. Problems arise with cleanliness in the rooms (Not cleaned every day and lots of dust under beds etc.) and the lack of heating. This was... more

Just back from a week at Benalmadena Palace. Hotel too out of the way and on very very steep hill. Spent quite a lot on taxis. Food just ok, quite repetative and canteen like. Definately not 4 star. Tiled areas on pool side etc. were grubby, which I expect by the end of... more

It was the best holiday ever!
The benalmadema palace is the place to be! The entertainment is wicked and al the bar-men and life guards are very friendly! It is a really good place for children to hang around and the pool facilities are great! We as a family enjoyed this holiday throughly and hope to return in the near future! thank- you to all the staff who helped our trip be an experience we WILL NOT not forget!
Brilliant Holiday
We have just got back from a really brilliant week at the Benalmadena Palace. We found the hotel to be really excellant and the staff very freindly and helpful, even the ones who's English wasn't great did their best to help us. The construction work is still going on over the road from the front of the hotel, but we didn't find it too bad and the hotel itself was well up to it's four star rating. One very slight let down was the food was a little bit bland, but the breakfasts wer'e really good and dinner there was plenty of choices my husband had steak nearly every night which he loved, dosen't get that at home. The hill up to the hotel is a bit steep, but you can cut this in half by going through the carpark. Our 16 year old daughter was with us and even she enjoyed herself, the entertainment staff who wer'e Spanish (as the English tour operators don't start till the season does!) wer'e really good, we noticed that there was alot of stuff for younger children to do. Benalmadena was a little bit busier than we normally like, but the rest of our stay was just great and we will definetly go back. Would recommend it to anyone!!!!
fun in the sun
we are a family of three who visited the palace at easter.the hotel is lovely and clean .the rooms are cleaned every other day clean towels and bedding.basic cooking facilities.excellent pool facilities.entertainment in the disco bar every night.childrens play room and cinema.various day excursions available.weather for us was fantastic.beach just downhill and across the road only 5 minute walk.only downside is the hill. and if your room is near the childrens room on the second floor is quite noisy till late at night..the marina is worth a visit you can have a steady walk along the beach to it or there are plenty of taxis for about 5euros.had a great time quite busy but would return again.

Just returned from Palace...what a place..rooms good size - towels changed every day. Apts cleaned thoroughly every day. Good food in restaurant and the location is brilliant, very quiet (except for the hill) of course if you get 'cute' and go in thru the garage you only need to walk up half the hill!. staff very courteous and helpful - we had to change our first room as soon as we arrived due to 'hum' of the airconditioning motors underneath this room, but there was no hassle - fruit and flowers on arrival in room. will most definitely return to this hotel in the future, hopefully in October!!. thank you again for 10 days of relaxation, oh almost forgot, first three days of our stay it rained! - but they have a lovely Leisure Centre with all the necesssary (Jacuzzi etc) and this was a great help on those wet days!!.... keep it up.
Booked again
8 of us went in total, we booked a 2 bedroomed apartment & a one bedroomed studio for my parents. When we arrived & saw the hill we were a bit concerned about my father as in his 70's & previously had a heart attack we thought the hill might be too much for him but he managed it fine & the worse part of the hill is the top half which can be avoided by cutting through the underground carpark & going in the lifts. The 2 bedroomed apartment was spacious with the 2 bedrooms having built in wardrobes with mirrored doors, 2 bathrooms, one with over bath shower, bidet, sink & toilet, also hairdrier & little packets on the sink that contained toothbrushes, shoe shine & wipes. In the other bathroom was a lower shower over a seat for anyone who maybe disabled or unsteady on there feet, plus sink & bidet, both rooms were a good size. We found the doors wide for wheel chair access although we didn't have a wheel chair. Kitchen had 2 hob rings, kettle, toaster, microwave but we only had 2 pans which was a bit difficult with 6 of us. My advice would be to take a tea towel, tin opener, & plasic mugs if you like a good cuppa as the cups are only small. The studio had one bedroom which was similar to the ones in the 2 bedroomed as was the kitchen area, both had a sofa in that opened out in to 2 single beds. The hotel was very nice with a lovely reception area & the staff were very friendly & helpful. We ate a couple of times in the hotel but after that we ate out at one of the many places a long the front especially the Penny Farthing, the food was lovely & the staff great. We were a bit disapointed at the distance from the hotel to the Marina, I would say it was a good 4 miles at least but its such a lovely walk & there are plenty of taxis. There was plenty to do in the hotel, a lovely indoor pool which was never busy, jacuzzi, sauna, gym & massage. There was a large out door pool & smaller one for the little ones but at the time we went the water was too cold. The evening entertainment was great for my 3 yr old grandson who loved Alex who did the disco. All in all we had a great time & we re-booked as soon as we could after getting back, 4 days after in fact.
Great time at Benalmadena Palace!
We stayed at the Benalmadena Palace for one week at the end of November. We had a great time. The indoor pool complex was excellent - good sized pool, jacuzzi sauna and gym. There appeared to be lots of indoor facilities for children. It was mainly older couples or couples with young children so no bother with noise or rowdiness as mentioned in other reviews. We found the staff friendly and efficient and had no problems. The apartments are not luxurious but were clean and contained all the necessities. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower which is a good idea. We did not cook as we were on half board, but apartment had a a kettle, toaster and microwave and was well equipped. The food was good - buffet style with a lot of choice and with the chef cooking local specialities. The dining room itself was not impressive -all the atmosphere of a school canteen so a bit boring. Entertainment at night was average - did not go every night but they had a happy hour from 10.00-11.00 which pleased most of the guests. Only disadvantage would be the location - a bit far from the main area. As for the hill it was steep but manageable, however I would not like to be walking up it in hot weather. Would recommend this complex for a winter break, may be noisy in summer and would also suggest car hire.
Children (aged 6 & 10) loved it - 3.5/5
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. This was a lovely hotel with a great kids club. The rooms were clean, 2 showers! Basic cooking facilities and a fridge. We could have used a bit more storage space for clothes but we managed. The pool area was well laid out and staff were helpful and pleasant. Evening entertainment was basic but again the children loved it. Our only gripe was the food. It was only ever warm and choice was limited, sometimes very limited. We bought a package of 10 evening meals and 10 breakfasts this was a mistake. The hill didn't bother us and we were out everyday. In conclusion we would stay again but eat elsewhere.
Great hotel, well worth the money
I decided to book a holiday back in January 2005 and just came across this delightful hotel by chance. We had a room on the 3rd floor. It was immaculate , great cooking faciliites, (Everything Worked!!!!!!!!!!) The rooms were cleaned almost every day which we didn't expect. The marina is only a 15 minute walk away and there are some great restaurants to eat at and they are all priced quite cheaply. We never ate at the hotel as we were self catering, although there was that option. I would like to add that there is HAPPY HOUR from 5-6 buy one get one free on the drinks!!!!!!!. All in all this holiday was well worth the money for a week and the weather was fantastic.
Good facilities, bad hill!
Stayed at the Benalmadena Palace with my fiancee and a couple of friends for a week during mid August and having stayed in several hotels both on mainland Spain and The Balearic Isle's found it a really nice, relaxed place to stay. On arrival the reception staff were efficient and courteous giving us rooms on the top floor of the building which were both by Spanish standards really nice, fully air conditioned and with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The hotel itself was well kept with a pretty impressive outdoor pool for the sun-worshippers and a really nice indoor pool for people like me who loved to relax in the shade and have a quiet swim. The poolside bar also had everything you would require for a relaxing stay, the drinks being cheap and the food being of a good standard. Another good point is that the hotel catered for families and had a variety of food available for both adults and small children. The hotel bar itself was the usual "club" acts and karaoke............not really my kind of thing but always good to come back and have a couple of drinks there after a night out in Benalmadena or Torremolinos! I would advise anybody to go for an evening out at the Marina in Benalmadena but would advise you to eat locally before going as the food there was very expensive for what you get. Back to the hotel.............we personally didn't have any problem whatsoever with noise throughout the night and in fairness always got a decent nights sleep, whether that is because we were on the top floor and away from the hotel bar I can't really say but it never caused us a moments problem. The only negative I could really think of was the large hill you have to climb to get back to the hotel after a day/night out which I could definately see being a problem for the elderly or people with mobility problems. You can however get into the hotel via the car park entrance which is just over half way up the hill and take the lift up to your room. Overall we had a lovely stay at the Benalmadena Palace and would gladly stay again if we were to return to Benalmadena.........but I would definately advise the elderly to really consider whether the hill would cause a problem as it is pretty long and very steep!!
Never again!
I've just returned back early!! from a 2 week stay at Benalmadena Palace. I have never experienced such a noisey holiday. There was construction work going on across from the hotel, continuous maintenance going on within the hotel itself, at all times of the day and night and kids/teenagers going wild at all hours! If you want to get any sleep before 3am and beyond 7am - forget it! The hotel is also stuck up two really steep hills so even popping down to the shop is a thought! The resort of Benalmadena itself isn't up to much either. I've never had such a disappointing holiday!
