Although the huts were clean and tidy...

Although the huts were clean and tidy it was really hard to sleep due to the amount of crows crowing, this was extermly loud and very early every morning. There are two parts to Kerla Bamboo huts, one side nicer than the other, the nicer side being the one that leads out to the cliff.. As we were quoted 850 R on the internet we were put over the other side and when we asked if we could move they said that the nicer side was 1000 R per night, this was not told via the emails that went back and forth. We booked our Alleppey backwater trip with them which i feel was a mistake. We were shown very nice pictures of a new boat and assured that it was the same as they only have one boat and it belongs to them so they know it to be true. this wasnt true and the boat was far from new or the pictures we were shown. In with the price was a pick up from Alleppy station to a guesthouse from where we were to be taken to the boat. We had to share a tuk-tuk with another couple, their bags and ours, my partner had to perch on the front seat with the driver, very uncomftable not to mention dangerous, this was the same going to the boat. We paid 5000 R for 22 hours, that was for us both.

This is very basic accommodation but it is very clean, great location and extremely comfortable. Very nice decor. We stayed here for 3 nights as we went on to Sri Lanka. Towels and soap were provided.
Hot water was brought by request in a bucket. Staff are friendly and helpful and will go to the shop to bring you a beer as you sit on your porch.
Food service is slow but we found many cafes and bars within 5 minutes walk. There are no facilities here as such but with the location there are restaurants and bars close by.
Each hut has traditional Keralan dark wood furniture, a fan, mosquito net and a clean ensuite bathroom, with a normal working toilet and a fully functional shower. Water is tepid. It is only seconds away from the cliff with many restaurants and shops and a nice beach. We paid £10 sterling a night so it was a bargain.
