Just back from a week’s holiday in...

Jun 2007, Ms S Cuss

Just back from a week’s holiday in the Vitors Plaza, the apartments were beautiful with everything that you need including a toaster, microwave, coffee maker, and iron.
The pool areas were very clean and the baby pool was ideal for kids. We requested a high chair from reception soon after we landed for our year old daughter and one was delivered to our door within 15 mins.
The staff were very friendly in all the areas of the complex. The Falcon/First Choice Reps were excellent offering good advice about where to eat and shop.
The only down side for us was that the complex was too far to walk into Praia Da Rocha or Praia Da Vau so bring enough money for taxis.
The complex has a courtesy bus to both areas during the day but the last one in the evening is 5.30pm. It is very family orientated and feels very safe (cctv cameras in different areas).
Overall it was great and worth going to.

Mar 2007, Miss A. Brown

I went to Vitors plaza with some extra family who has been twice previously. I was 14 when I went and there where a wide range of kids at all different ages! It was not far from the closest town, Alvor, which had a lot of bars and restaurants.
Alvor was a very safe place. Vitors plaza is a great place to stay. It is very clean and has a very friendly environment. Wide range of organised entertainment available like football, tennis, table tennis, small arcade, water volley ball that happen on different days of the week at different times.
The staff were amazing and made the holiday a lot better. Night entertainment was great with Karaoke, Cabaret with Nuno as Queen was great! Also there is a kid’s room open at night with a Playstation and some activities which is always supervised which is good if the parents want a drink.
There is a small playground on sight but children should wear sandals on there as it is black and can get quite hot in the sun. There is a large pool which is quite deep but very cold which is handy after you have been sunbathing. There is always a small child’s pool and an indoor pool with a Jacuzzi.
The beaches near by are great. There were a range of activities available like jet skiing and banana boating. I did them both and they weren’t very expensive and they were great fun! Overall, Vitors Plaza is a great place for families and its surroundings are GREAT! I had a fantastic time and I am going back this year!

Just spent 2 weeks at Vitors Plaza...

Sep 2006, Mrs S.l. Hodson

Just spent 2 weeks at Vitors Plaza fantastic could not wish for a more spotless place to stay. Maid service everyday, towel change every other ,bed change weekly. Only down fall was how far it was to walk to the beach or in to town Alvor. Taxi was not expensive 4euro ,and they also put a courtesy bus on for the beaches of Praia Da Vau and also for Praia Da Rocha which was a great help especially when you have children with you. Pool side bar ok if you like your beer out of plastic glasses, and only a couple of entertainers for the kids but saying that Nunno was a great bloke.
Alvor itself was beautiful full of bars and restaurants if you like fish go down to the harbour where they cook everything on BBQ, and go in the day time so you can see how beautiful the harbour really is.
Places to eat were fantastic try Goodville, Patrimonia, Albar, Vagabonda and Blue Reef but watch your fingers for the hot plates.

We personally would NEVER visit...
3 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr S Williams

We personally would NEVER visit Vitors Plaza again! We have two children and found the play ground offered no protection to the blistering heat, the children's pool was very small and the second large pool very deep.
We were constantly worried that one of the children would fall in as were not very experienced swimmers ourselves. On our holiday we witnessed two parents diving in to save their small son who they thought was drowning in the large pool, thankfully he was fine. The on site restaurant was OK but nothing special we dined there only the once and thought we wouldn't bother again.
The apartments were spacious and the air conditioning was an essential that we appreciated. Although the kitchen was well stocked with toaster, micro wave, coffee percolator, iron and even an ironing board, brilliant we thought until we started looking for the oven and grill! No grill and no oven. The only thing we ended up cooking in a self catering apartment was baked beans on toast and soup.
Undoubtedly the most unpleasant part of the week was the last day. On booking out the receptionist accused us of breaking the TV remote control and demanded 25.00 Euro stating we had signed an agreement to pay this money. We were disgusted by this as we hadn't broke it, the back became loose when we tried to use it the once.
We asked if the maintenance man would look at it, he did and said it was OK. However by that point the stay at Vitors Plaza for us had been spoilt.
We would NEVER visit again!

Jul 2006, Mr S Convery

When my family and I first arrived we thought we were in the middle of no where but soon realised we were only a short taxi fair from anywhere. I would recommend the Vitors Plaza to any family looking for a very quiet peaceful holiday so much for the kids to do while this lets the adults relax. The rooms are great very very clean and spacious (maid service fantastic) overall this was a great holiday and were already booking to go back next year.

Apr 2006, Mr R Gilmore

Excellent quality. The apartment was spacious and very clean. If you consider chewing gum on floors as a criterion of quality, then this is first rate, not one piece could be found. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
The restaurant was staffed by the most friendly people and offered good quality food at reasonable prices.
It is a reasonable walk downhill to Praia do Vau or to Alvor, but unless you are fit it is challenging to walk back. Taxis are easily available.
Alvor would be the best local resort with some superb restaurants.
I can't think of anything negative to say.

I've just returned from a week at Vitors Plaza and I must add my praise to the others posted here. Everything was so clean and the staff were amazing. There are resorts to visit nearby but there's also quite a lot going on at Vitors even in the off-season.
I had a hilarious Portuguese lesson with Rosanna and a lot of fun watching the goings-on around the pool.
The taxis are cheap and plentiful for shopping and there are local buses for sightseeing. I went out on the pirate ship in Portimao, which the Vitors staff booked for me and that was wonderful.
I'm already considering booking again. Fantastic place if you want some peace and quiet just out of the busy resorts.
Thanks also to Shayley the My Travel Rep who arranged a couple of short trips for me.
Obrigado!

Vitors plaza was astounding! Our apartment was spacious at just under 400 square feet. Beautiful spot, clean, quiet.
If you stay at Vitor's you need a car. The hotel is some distance from the center of Alvor and there is so much to see in the Algarve, you'll want to explore.
Do not take a tour to Seville from this far west in the Algarve. You will spend most of the day on the bus picking up other tourists from hotels to the east. We boarded the bus before 6:00 AM and didn't get to Seville until 11:00 local time. Only two hours to shop before the stores closed for the afternoon. Back on the bus at 4 and didn't get back to the hotel till after 8:30 PM. If you want to visit Seville then drive in and take one of the double-decker tour buses.
Avoid the Taxis in the Algarve. We had a horrible experience with one who refused to even accept us because we weren’t going far enough from the airport. We complained to the Police and they offered to force the driver to take us as it is illegal for them to refuse a fare but by then we didn't feel safe in using the taxi. They refuse to give any commitment to the amount of the fare even when the fares are posted. Believe me, you could rent a car for a day or two for what these guys want to charge for a 45 minute taxi ride. Explore every other alternative before you use a taxi in Faro.
We also drove to Lisbon for one night stay. Consider using the toll roads to travel North. There are alternatives however at 17 euros for the trip from Faro to Lisbon we didn't feel the price was unreasonable. The big trucks all use the alternate roads so you may want to consider paying the toll if you are going north.
In Lisbon we stayed at the Clarion Suites. If you are a ‘Choiceclub’ member this is a tremendous value at only 6000 points for a nice sized suite with kitchen/sitting room and separate bedroom. Very close to the Metro so we parked at the Hotel for 10 euros and bought a pack of 10 metro rides for 7 Euros per person. Never moved the car after that.
Portugal was one of the best values we have ever experienced for our travel dollar.

Accommodation first class, spacious...

Accommodation first class, spacious air-conditioned apartments fully equipped and kept spotless by the cleaning staff.
All staff polite, professional and helpful at all times.
Restaurant okay, nothing to write home about. Downstairs bar is like a smoky dungeon without windows, a let down.
No High-Chair provided which proved a bit of a blow having our 15 month old daughter with us. BUT three days later one was delivered to our door, brand new. Spot on we thought.
You need a car as it is out on a limb and the complex shop is well, corner shop prices. Supermarket a short drive away.
Excellent traditional food at ' Primavera ' in Aljezur and a top place in Monchique; ' A Charrette ', Black Pig pork chops, I can still taste them.
Get a car and stay at The Vitors.

Jan 2006, Mrs J Hall

This was our 3rd visit to Vitor's Plaza and proved to be yet another fantastic holiday. The staff were friendly and highly efficient.
The pool was lovely, along with the pool side bar. Excursions are expensive as we found out on previous trips, however the jeep safari was amazing. We were more adventurous on our 3rd trip and caught the train to Lagos, which cost us roughly £1.50 each way.
It was excellent and would highly recommend this trip, the trains are old yet much more efficient than in the UK! Much looking forward to returning this year.

Dec 2005, Mrs S Hartnell

I was very surprised to read Mr Chambers comments and hope other holidaymakers will not be put off by them. We have been to Vitor's Plaza three times and although we like to try different holidays my friend and I are planning a week there next June as an extra to our normal holiday.
The reason being that the resort is faultless, so clean you could eat off the floor, fantastic friendly staff who work so hard to make you feel welcome, the restaurant food is excellent as are the bar snacks, the pool is clean and warm, the sunbeds plentiful, you are close enough to town and beach to not have to spend a fortune on taxis (which are cheap anyway) but far enough away not to have to put up with a lot of noise.
Apartments can be noisy at night but this is due primarily to the usual "Brits Abroad" who do not feel their children should be told to be quiet or indeed have no regard for fellow guests themselves when moving beds around at 2 o clock in the morning, but I have found this on every holiday I have been on in a variety of different countries. I would not even try somewhere different in the Algarve. Vitors Plaza is unbeatable.
