Golden Crown Paradise Hotel

Trip dates July 7-14, 2003. I was really worried after reading a few less than stellar reviews, but we really found Crown Paradise to be quite nice and an exceptional value. While I wouldn't call it a 5 star resort -- probably closer to a an excellent 3 star -- it really has a great deal to offer. We returned Aug. 4th from a 7nights stay at Crown Paradise. Everything was wonderful! We had a suite on the 7th floor that was spectacular! Our view from the balcony was so amazing. We have alot of sunset photos. Being on our honeymoon, we weren't into clubbin' or hanging with other couples all of the time. But here, you are able to hang out with a group of people or be loners. I don't understand where some of these people stayed at because prior to leaving, I checked the reviews. Let me assure you of this, the level of service, was way beyond anything I have experenced here in the US. Inclusive, is the way to go, but if you want great service, it is amazing what 5 dollars will do for you. Tip your pool side staff when you get there, but make them promise to help you to your room. Your drinks will never run out. We only ate one meal in the resturants that require reservations, and the food there was average.... more

Originally concerned after reading some reviews on this website that were not so positive, we were cautious. However, the minute we arrived at the Crown Paradise, any concern was put to rest. The staff were SO accomidating and friendly. My girlfriend and I were taken back at the quality of food and service. I would really recommend this resort. My husband and I just returned from a trip to Puerto Vallarta, and we stayed at the Crown Paradise. We were there for 4 nights. There were a lot of things I really liked about the resort. I was afraid the pool would be too small and that there wouldn't be enough chairs around the pool, but I didn't find that to be true. We booked this trip on a spur of the moment Funjet vacation and were not disappointed. While it is a 5 star Funjet rated resort it is more like a very good 3-4 star resort. Granted, looking at the other hotels in P.V. (although I haven't stayed at them), it could very well be a compartive 5 star. We have just returned from a 7 day stay at Crown Paradise. We too had an OceanFront Room which was great. Although tips are not required, they are still greatly appreciated. Our room was always clean with lovely fresh flowers on the bed. Both the room service & restaurant staff was prompt and friendly. Aldo, the Breeze Bar staff and the beach waiters were happy to accommodate us at any time. We just returned yesterday after a 7 night stay at the Crown Paradise. Overall, the resort and our vacation was a good one. However, the food at the Crown needs major improvement. The hotel employees don't even recommend the Paradise restaurant! Salvador's was average for the two nights we ate there. The service at this restaurant was great! It's nice that we can enjoy the restaurants at the next door hotel - Playa de Oro. The beach is filled with vendors and it's easy for them to spot the new arrivals on the beach. We just returned yesterday (May 15, 2003) from P.V. We spent four days at the Crown Paradise. My husband and I spent just barely over $1,000 for this vacation including our arifare, this hotel, and transfers. We vacation annually and we were a little worried that this might not be too nice. My girlfriend and I spent 10 days at this resort. I have read some of the reviews, and can't believe anyone would not like it. All the meals are ala carte and if you desire a buffet, you are permitted to use the facilities of the sister hotel next door. As far as complaints regarding the alcohol, I'm not sure what other people are wanting. Jose Cuervo, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Tanqueray, Absolut......they were all there.
