Barcelo Dominican Beach

i have been the dominican 3 times and this was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in never wanted to come so so bad . they let there locals in every weekend the entertainment of a night is awful if ur english everything in spanish its just so boring of a night time. its not the cleanest of places the pools had vomit in them wich put me of for the rest of the holiday the food was ok but a lot of flys book the al a cart restaurants they were lovely and the coffee bar was great for a deasent cuppa coffee, in the rooms there is no were to put ur cloths wardrobe far to small u dont get ur fridges filled evey day and some times left with no towels if u wana go the dominican dont pick this hotel u will be sorry there is plenty more beautiful hotels around. the best time we had on this holiday was when we went of site i am reall not someone who complains but this was to much espesialy with the prostitutes they are everywere please be aware

Just got home today from our two weeks stay at this hotel and can honestly say was pleasently suprised having read some of the previous reviews.
Having travelled in a party of 6 we were well catered for accommodation wise all our requests were met no problems all rooms together on a ground floor as there are not lifts in these properties.
The grounds are huge our rooms were located in block 8 out of 9 all beautifully placed in the most gorgeus surrounding gardens full of pretty flowers and palm trees all supurbley maintained with gardeners only too happy to cut coconuts for you to drink from.
One main problem with block 8 was located to the rear of this one was a theatre open air which staged nightly entertainment from 8 pm going on till midnight very loud no early nights for us but we coped.
The rooms were very nice very clean, bathroom hot water plentiful and clean towels every single day.
The fridge in our rooms were stocked with cola, sprite, bottled water and local beer also every single day 2 of each but make friends with your cleaning lady and she'll look after you lol. Clean bedding mmm every other day two days maybe sometimes but more than satisfied with our accomodation.
Had a courtesy room on our last day which was in block 1 wasn't as nice huge king size bed but bathrom not as well kept furniture bit dated in this block so luck of the draw.
Food was fantastic we ate very well main buffet excellent fresh omellettes, pancakes made while you wait, roasts ,steak , chops all readilly cooked fresh salads veg cakes all stocked we never waited on anything we were well looked after constant supply of water and drinks brought to our table.
On site a la carte resteraunts are bookable for the following evening all free apart from the seafood one which was $40 per person.
Can recommend the japanese and brazilian all good but these two we ejoyed the most.
The pools were well maintaind cleaned every day plenty of loungers no faults we enjoyed many a day lazing round these.
The beach what can i say it was perfect very clean clear waters white sands 5 star plenty to do water sport wise if thats for you.
The cafe was a great little get away from the heat lol can recommend you try the frozen capachinno gorgeus xx
Casino we popped in for a nosey quite nice if thats your thing.
Right for the downside yes we knew it was coming and it was the ......entertainment for us, the main stage were the main event was staged every night mainly dancing singing which is all well and good if you can understand spanish which unfortunatley none of our party could from the night starting at 9 and going on till 12 about 2 sentences were spoke in english so we found ourselves sat in the lobby bar night after night. Theatre round main pool in spanish same thing singing dancing and theatre round block 8 again you got it singing all in spanish which is good but the compares dont do english.
Apart from that an all round relaxing enjoyable holiday !!!!

Very clean food was just okay lots of lovely pools. The hotel is right on the beach. The first choice rep Jackie was fab. Very hot the people were lovely it was very relaxing. Prob wouldnt reccomend it for younger kids.
