The hotel was charming with lovely well appointed rooms and
beautiful views over the amazing countryside. The reception areas, dining areas and bars were decorated in a charming rustic style which made us feel very relaxed and at home.
The staff were friendly, helpful and all spoke excellent English.
Everything was as it should be in a 4-star hotel except, unfortunately, for the food!
The breakfast was a good buffet style with plenty to choose from but the coffee was already on the tables in vacuum jugs, which gave it a rather strange flavour. We did find later that we could fill small jugs from the machine in the buffet, which gave us good coffee. (Whether we were meant to or not, we didn’t find out)
At breakfast we chose our main evening meal from the two choices on menu on the table. The main dishes served in the evening were acceptable but the portions were miniscule and if we expected to fill up on the wonderful desserts that Austria is justly famous for, we were mistaken! For three consecutive nights we were served banana based dishes; fruit cocktail consisting of banana and chopped apple; banana and caramel ragout and Choux buns filled with cream and sliced banana!
On Friday there was a special gala dinner consisting of a “farmers' buffet” and was truly very good with plenty of food and lots of choice; however, the ubiquitous yellow fruit even made an appearance at this dinner in the only dessert buffet we ever saw during our stay.
I could see that the hotel kitchen was capable of producing excellent food but that which we were served was not 4 star standard. I felt it was cheap and penny-pinching.

Hotel Sonnschein is a delight. Well situated with spotless, very comfortable rooms and good views of stunning scenery.
The food is excellent with enormous breakfast, salad and dessert buffets. Everyone on the staff is friendly - nothing is too much trouble. Being a member of a coach party, we were never made to feel second class citizens as often happens in other hotels.
Garden, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, tennis court. Evening entertainment programme - Tyrolean evenings, harp recital (much more fun than it sounds!), brass band concert, dancing.
Excellent walking and a cheap bus ride to the mainline station and interesting town of Worgl.
Didn’t want to come home!

Loved this hotel, very friendly staff and a good location. We thought the food was very good, and the portions were more than enough considering it was possible to enjoy a five course meal (1 - 2 starters, soup, main course, dessert and cheese and biscuits....plus fresh fruit always available), also children's buffet of familiar favourites kept them happy.
Rooms were spacious, spotless and very comfortable with a clever arrangement for families of two rooms adjoining with their own main door. This was our first ski holiday and we were very lucky with the weather - lots of snow!
Only tip when staying at the Sonnshein is to hire a locker at the ski hire shop to keep skis and boots in close to the slopes as it is a five minute walk from the hotel - not far, but not much fun in ski boots carrying skis. (although there are facilities to store skis and boots at the hotel.)
