The Somy Resort is like most of the hotels in Calangute, I couldn't find any bad reviews about it so we booked for Xmas and New Year 07/08. The rooms are clean, spacious, and basic, the sheets and towels have seen better days but it was fine and they were changed daily.... more

good basic hotel ingood location
good basic hotel near st antonys church. stayed in room i13 ,didnit bother upgrading to air con as you really notice the temperature when you go out in april. only had breakfast once as i eat at my usual shack; the fabulous beach queen in calangute .staff all very coutreous and helful really good pool . quite alarge hotel and not quite as intimate as the smaller places i usually use and as i was travelling alone didnt use facilitiesbar or resturant as other residents seemed rather reserved and family /group in orientation but hay there... more
culture shock
Not quite what I expected. The Hotel very clean, staff very friendly, eager to help, but need to remember in India, everything is carried out at one speed - SLOW. Rooms basic but clean. Clean sheets & towels everyday. Although I was ill for the whole two weeks, staff were very concerned & kept knocking to see if I needed anything. Nice touch. Would I go again? Yep, probably in November though, when the humidity isn't so exhausting. Travelled with Thomas Cook, representative could put in a few more shows than he... more
Very basic
Just got back from two weeks at Somy. First the rooms our first room was in G Block we only stayed there for one night then we asked for a move. The room was very basic (To be expected in Goa) but it was also very dark and didn't have a view so to speak. We upgraded our room the next day to a bigger room overlooking the restaurant? This room was much better and cost 300 rupees per night (around £3.00) We went bed and breakfast and as stated in other reviews it was tea toast and jam ther was also eggs available, you could... more
Small but Nice
My stay at this hotel was for 4 Nights and it was simply great. I was little worried as I was not aware about the Hotel but when I reached the Hotel on 30/12/08, I saw around 50 odd Foreigners about to check in the hotel. Some of them were very regular visitiors every year. The Rooms were pretty clean, the Pool side was good, the Restaurant was fine but you may not like to eat there everyday. The Room service was fine. I had the sight seing also provided by Hotel and the cab was good. Overall I rate this Hotel to be above average. I... more
it was ok
we have just returned from this resort, it was awful on the day that we arived the woman at the reception just kept telling us that we had to pay £100 pounds for some airconditoning ( which we had never wanted in the first place we did not know what she was on about. all we wanted to do was just to go to our room have shower and have some rest as we did have a delayed flight of one whole day we where totally shattered. but we couldnt untill we sorted this problem out . so we was lucky as thomascook had a shop just on the corner... more
just love goa
fourth time in goa, first time in calangute, We would easily stay at the somy again, the hotel is like most of the hotels in goa, basic, but it was spotlessly clean, the food was really good and the staff were fantastic, from the manager right down to the cleaners, really friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. They even helped us to our room on new years eve, lots of drink and a top floor room!! We would reccommend the somy and we will be staying there again Colleen and Nigel, loftus cleveland
Somy was agood place to stay
This hotel has been renamed So My Resort and was the Brisa before, we stayed there this between 13th and 28th Dec 2008 and really enjoyed our stay. 1)If you paid for Aircon, ensure you have a confirmation clearly stating so as you will be asked to pay 300 rupees per night if not, so make sure you have it clearly stated, if not get a confirmation from your tour operator/travel agent with the amount you have paid upfront. Lovely staff, excellent food and service from the waiters and room boys. We did have a rat in our first room... more
Bad Start !!!
Have just returned from a fabulous two week stay at the Somy Resort and after a wobbly start at reception the hotel managment and staff were all brilliant. Myself and Girlfriend usually stay in Candolim but due to circumstances booked to stay in Calangute instead and were pleasently surprised. The food in the Hotel was actually above average and the place was cleaned spotlessly daily. Would dephinately reccomend the Somy to friends and am already booking to go again in March 09.
basic but great
we were a bit shocked at first as hotel is basic but when we got used to it it is spotlessly cleaned every day and staff are so friendly and cant do enough for you. hotel is in a great central location.bbq nights are good food great and very cheap overall a great holiday
Not bad but not the best.
The Somy Resort is like most of the hotels in Calangute, I couldn't find any bad reviews about it so we booked for Xmas and New Year 07/08. The rooms are clean, spacious and basic, the sheets and towels have seen better days but it was fine and they were changed daily. We had a separate bathroom and a spare room with a wardrobe, kitchen sink and worktop which was useful and a balcony. The pool was a nice size and there is always some shade on one side which is great to escape to for a bit. They could do with a few more sunbeds... more
