You must visit this hotel for the entertainment that Herbert the owner provides. He is the Austrian equivalent of Victor Meldrew and looks like him too. Herbert plays the most beautiful ornate harp. He starts off with something classical like The Blue Danube, then out of the blue starts to play Hey Jude, Rock around the Clock to name a few. He can’t sing for peanuts which makes it all the more spectacular. He has a British wife, so has all the expressions used at home, only with an Austrian accent. The guy is a real laugh.
The hotel is situated right across the road from the draglift, which gives access to the Gondola. You can ski back to the hotel. It has a sun terrace for catching the last of the rays in the evening. Ample ski/boot room, laundry facilities and a whirlpool room. I would like to see the place in the summer. Can imagine that Niederau looks fab.

This hotel was comfortable and the facilities were good. The staff were really friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Herbert, the hotel owner, is a gem and makes everyone feel very welcome, he appears to genuinely care about his guests.
I would not, however, recommend this resort for families with children as a summer location. There is little to do in the evenings and children are few and far between. There is often a lack of tolerance amongst other guests towards children. On one occasion, a fellow guest suggested that he would break my 5 year old’s legs for being vociferous. Needless to say we shall definitely not be visiting the resort again or recommending it to other young families. That said, the staff at the hotel and the hotel itself could not be faulted. This is definitely a summer resort for those without children.
Young families should be aware that as such your presence may be seen as an intrusion and you may leave this resort feeling resentful and disappointed with your fellow guests.
