This place needs to get a grip Commrade!!
If you are a Brit, like poor food, and a really SAD selection of cheap local local spirits that were mostly undrinkable, and above all love being in the company of of what appeared to be half the holidaying population of Moscow, who we all collectively agreed have to be the rudest people in the world, then you are in for a good time, otherwise give it a massive swerve and go to the fantastic Letoonia Club & Hotel, also in Fethiye, which I stayed in May of this year as well, which really shows the Tuana up for what it is,cheap, nasty and Russian!! Good Complex or am I going soft in my old age ?
I do try and give a realistic picture both on the facilities and my overall experience and feel that describing the hotel as rubbish is more than a little over the top - or am I just going soft ? The resort/complex was built 14yrs ago and is set in extensive palm filled grounds. The accomodation is set within individual blocks spread through the grounds each holding approx twenty apartments. Phase 2 & 3 have recently been added . We were in 2 which had its own quiet pool and bar which is open to all though most congregate at the main pool which has alongside it the central dining facilities, amphi theatre and other bar and on site shops ,hairdresser etc. The beach is gravel sand and there are plenty of loungers - also on the grassed areas overlooking the sea. The rooms we found excellent though my in laws who were in the older blocks were not as upto date. We found the food pretty good with snacks served throughout the day from 12 noon - even a late night snack is available at 11.30. The prebookable a la carte restaurants were pretty average and we would have avoided if we had known. Mind the toasters at breakfast the handles are red hot and a child would suffer third degree burns - mine were second degree but painful ! ! Entertainment was by the animation team enthusiastic but night shows were a mix between excellent and banal. We went into the town which is 20mins away by hotel bus; the last one returns at 11.30. There is a good disco on site but the bars are a little souless and the local spirits and wine not very palatable and no cocktails on offer. The resort lacks a bit of finesse and can get busy round the main area as can the restaurant where smoking is allowed which is unfortunate. The staff work tirelessly and are polite and you have access to beach towelseach day as well as chilled hand towels. There are tennis courts and a spa though the latter is expensive and we accessed the traditional Hamman in the town - well worth the £10 visit which includes massage. There is also a childrens centre. Guests were mainly Russian - yes some do appear to have a personality deficit but it is usually the older ones. I mean most have probably had to endure queues for most of there life only to find nothing left when they have got to the front and an open buffet must seem like aladins cave. So for now I will give them a break - wonder what they would say if they were surrounded by Brits - I know which I prefer. So overall quite good but to get some variety travel into town, take a wet shave or one of the excellent boat cruises £6 all day with lunch......apparently there has been a reduction in the number of english travelling to Turkey and as Russians tend to stay in there hotels (some would say a blessing) the turks are desperate for us to return and buy there wares and take there excellent hospitality. So we enjoyed the week.
Absolute Rubbish
German company run and manage the hotel. We were greeted by rude reception staff telling us they had overbooked. They asked us to stay in alternative rooms for 2 nights then move to the rooms we originally booked. We said "no", they gave us our correct rooms after about 20 mins of arguing. We met several Engish couples, who'd experienced the same. Hotel and grounds were excellent, well looked after, and facilities very good . The food was a different matter. I am by far no means a fussy eater but this was a struggle. Cooked dishes appeared as variations of "slop", given a different name each night. Nearly all Russian and German guests, who seemed to either get to the food first or push in front of you if you were in their way. On several ocassions we had to clear our own tables from previous diners and lay them ourselves. We asked a waiter (all of whom were very miserable), a hour before the end dinner for a jug, he said "finished, washing up". Another night I requested an ashtray, to be told "finished". Desserts were beautifully displayed but once the first lot had gone that was it, they were gone, and uaually looked like a bomb had landed. Drinks - not much to offer here. Local gin, vodka and brandy only spirits available. Brandy like meths. We bough a bottle of Bacardi from the hotel bar and were charged £40 for it!!!!! A couple of times I handed over the towel card and was told "finished" . And guess what, I asked for a Fanta Lemon and the reply was "finished, tomorrow". I think "finished" must be one of the only English words the staff learn. All in all the complex had a very unfriendly atmosphere. I'm used to saying hello and smiling at other guests, non of that here. Mainly due to the totally rude, miserable and arrogant attitude of the Russians. Some members of staff were very pleasant once they reaslised we were English. Best thing to do at this hotel is shower, sleep, and swim. Anything else is "finished" so you might as well get a taxi and go into town like we did.
Never Again
Had problems from the start with rooms, ie wanting to put 6 of us into a family room when we had booked three seperate rooms. Rooms are small. The food is terrible and once its gone its gone. No toast machine . Real and proper filth. If you ask for more all the staff say is "finished". Local drinks are beer, vodka and brandy. You cannot drink the brandy its lighter fuel. Rum and whiskey was not even available unless you wanted to pay for it. I would never go back to this hotel again, its never a five star, might scrape a 3. I am so glad to be home, nice facility but everything else stinks.
noo it was rubish
this hotel was by far the worst ive seen for a five star! we went as 3 adults and 1 which was an elderly ladie, and they gave us a tiny room compatable for 1 person with to small beds shoved in it. the toilets did not have windows and so had no air and you could hear peoples showers and toilet flushs from the other rooms! we told the reception who did not deal with us accordingly and were rude! the food was cheap and the meat was not even cooked proply and not meetin the 5star quality and overall not so tasty. the hotel was full off mostly russian and ukrains not that they are bad but we did not feel comtherbul as they were so rude. entertainment was not that great, mainly for young children but it could have been better. we also were not delt well with our travel agent wings abroad( i advise u to not travel with them). ive been to fetiye 3 times before and it beutiful but is a shame that our holiday was ruined by this hotel. i reccomend you reconsider goin here! i suggest montana pine resort, olu deniz! much better.
Excellent value
I have stayed in many four/five star business hotels and the only negative I have is that the rooms are not five star, probably three. They are functional and small. We were two adults and a child , and my son's bed was fitted into the room. However everything else was excellent. The staff were almost unfailingly helpful, especially if you trated them like human beings. The food was great, although as it was a buffet it was a bit of a scrum at times. It was our first time all inclusive and it was excellent value. We would go back and heartily recommend it. One final comment is that if you want to mingle with other holidaymakers who speak english, this may not be the hotel for you. It was predominantly russian and turkish.
Okay
Nice complex. Food very good & tennis courts good. Swimming pool nice but no notification of depths at any time + I cut my leg open on a tiled ridge which is completely unseen/unmarked located by the pool bar !!! We had a family room which was spacious enough but certainly NOT five star - our wardrobe doors would not open and the handle to the "balcony" (big enough for 1 chair) kept falling off! The animation team work very hard but seem to have to do everything, including all the entertainment at evening - which is not brilliant. My 12 year old and 8 year old had real problems getting served at the bar & I witnessed many children being completely ignored at the bars. Unfortunately not many of the staff seem to have had any "customer service" training, especially the bar staff and a particular male member of the reception staff who was very ignorant indeed. It is 40 mins into Fethiye and although the Dolmus service is regular it has no air conditioning and the Hotel buses run just 3 times per day - being so far out has its disadvantages! Overall I would recommend for 1 week at the most.
some staff rude
ok here goes We had problems when we arrived, our upgraded room's were not available but were given a room to share (4 adults 1 child ) not ideal. We were informed our rooms would be ready the next day, we finally got our rooms late afternoon ! I would not class this resort as five star where the rooms are concerned rather a 3 but they were cleaned everyday and suitable for our needs. The grounds were kept very clean and the staff maintaining the gardens worked very hard. We found some bar staff VERY rude but some holidaymakers were just as bad. Germans,Russians and Turkish people amount to about 90% of the holidaymakers there but we have been informed that more British customers are expected next season as Thomas Cook and Thompson are going to be on board. The food was good but you needed to be quick off the mark to get a choice (some people are so greedy and wasteful). Reception - if you have problems (which we did) ask to speak to Hassain, his known as the chief. The guy who runs the slides (open between 10-12am and 3-5pm ) was great. If you want a sun lounger get there very early I mean 7am/7.30am or you will not get one as many residents tend to put their towels out to secure a spot , my husband scuba dived early one day there was towels out at 5am ! there are lots of loungers but they do get taken very quickly. The animation team worked very hard to entertain, I would say that the evening entertainment is more suitable for the young ones but depends on your taste. This resort has a lot going for it if only some staff were more friendly. We ended up speaking to the Operations Manager who spoke very good english and was most helpful. If you stay at the Majesty a visit to the jewellers is a must. The owner, his brother Hamad and little Georgie are great and will make changes where possible to suit your needs so don't forget to ask ! Would we go back - if the customer service was better yes.
Tuana - almost all good.
The Majesty Tuana accomodation is divided into three areas, Club, Park and Park 2. The centrepiece of the Club area is a large pool with adjacent children's pool, surrounding bars and main restaurant. This area is lively (too loud for us parents) with music throughout the day and participation activities arranged by the animation team. Our kids (16 yr old girl, 14yr old boy) divided all their day time between here and the beach/jetty area. Our rooms were in the Park area, alongside a quieter pool with its own children's pool and a bar/food area. This was a different world from the main pool and suited our differing tastes within the family perfectly. While breakfast and evening meal are served in the main restaurant - both meals consisting of endless buffet choices along with freshly cooked options - a limited lunch menu could be had at our quieter pool. Overall our experiences were: FOOD - excellent, but if you are not prepared to try unfamiliar cuisine, you will be eating spaghetti bolognese every day. ACCOMODATION - Comfortable. Would not rate as 5 star in UK but rooms are cleaned, towels and bed linen changed daily. SERVICE - variable. The most motivated staff members are delightful. Some are disinterested and rude (see below). FELLOW HOLIDAYMAKERS - There is a high proportion of Russians in Tuana and generally they do not indulge in niceties that most Brits on holiday expect - smiling, queuing, giving way at doors or avoiding a collison course with anybody if they stand in the direction of the next food item they require for their plate. Some of the staff at Tuana adopt a similar attitude which perhaps charitably, can be understood given the rudeness they face. COMPLAINTS - In my one interaction with the management of the resort, my complaint was dealt with immediately and to my complete satisfaction. He informed me that they are seeking to increase the number of holidays available to the UK next year. We will go to Tuana again, provided we can guarantee to be accomodated in the Park area.
Had a great time.
Stayed at the tuana beach in may 4 of us all adults, And all of us really enjoyed our stay there. The rooms are very basic and do not meet with 4* or 5* ratings as advertised on some sites. But it was large with a good sized balcony and was cleaned every day. I thought there was an excellent choice of food at all times and free drinks were still being served at 4am, so considering that most all inclusives now finish at midnight or earlier it was excellent. The animation team worked hard and tried their best to entertain everyone who wanted to take part. My husband and brothering law enjoyed the archery each afternoon. I would go there again without any hesitation. Just dont expect 4 or 5 star luxury and you wont be dissapointed.
