A fabulous modern villa which feels like a house off of grand designs. It has 3 double bedrooms, all en suite with whirl pool baths, and all 3 have dressing rooms. Also it has 2 twin rooms and a shower room. All bedrooms are on the top floor and there is even a tv lounge upstairs with plasma tv etc. The villa is a bit tricky to find and get to. It is one km up a hilly pot hole dirt drive with very few passing places and walls either side. By the end of the fortnight it was not so daunting, but to be fair I let my husband and brother in law drive.
The modern villa has a massive lounge area, dining table to seat ten and all mod con kitchen. The kitchen was a bit like the big brother house, black gloss and trendy. Kids loved the pool but be warned the water was cold and also take your own beach towels as none were supplied. Plenty of outside space, felt safe and secure as villa has electric shutters, electric gate and it's very own guard dog, Marsha. Don't be alarmed about the dog, it can live in kennel at the top of the drive but he was such a lovely big soppy playful pet, we let him roam happily around the grounds.
The view of the church at Loule is on the opposite hill side and you can see the coast from the villa. It is about 15 minutes drive to the seaside. A car is a must. There are 3 decent supermarkets in Loule and the town is bigger than expected. Not very touristy which adds to the charm of the place.
Loads of places within easy reach by car to tour the Algarve. We ate in every night and had a home cooked meal as once relaxed at home we did not want to venture out up the drive. Plus we like to have a beer or two. The fridge holds plenty.
On the downside the maid service was only once a week, but saying that it is nice not to be disturbed and there is brooms, mops etc to keep the place clean. The washing machine is a bit of a monster so use at your peril or hand wash. We also had poor weather but I think it was a freak bad May.
The car hire company were very unorganised. We had pre-booked bigger cars but for over an hour they tried to fob us off with supermini's. No Thomson rep is at the car hire compound and you have to queue outside for about an hour to even get served. You're not at the airport so be prepared for a stressed time. We arrived on a sunday and had paid £55 for a welcome pack but there was not enough food to make a meal and only 2 beers and 2 bottle's of wine for ten. So immediately had to visit the supermarket in the centre of Loule which is open sundays.
If the kids get bored at the villa, they have dvd player, satelite tv, pool table, table football and ping pong. We had a party of ten and all had enough space to be alone when required.
We still had a fantastic holiday and felt very depressed returning home to a small house without fabulous surroundings. This villa feels like a lottery win....if even only for 2 weeks of your life.
