I would like to tell anyone going to this lovely family hotel that some of the adverse comments I have read were from our experience totaly untrue. It is as if they stayed at a different hotel to the one my partner myself and my family stayed at.The room was large clean and comfortable. The staff were all lovely and helpful and friendly. The cook was really obliging and cooked different meals for my five year old nephew. There was a choice of three main courses and the food was well cooked and presented.
The free bar went down a treat as did the nightly entertainment.
We only went on one of the trips to Dartmouth but had a lovely trip down the river Dart.
One day we entertained ourselves and went the Model Village in Babbacombe and Kents Caverns.
We made new friends there and all in all had a thoroughly great time.
If you are looking for the Palace or Imperial Hotels well pay for their prices but if you want a holiday at a reasonable price in a clean family run hotel go to The Concorde.
It is unfair to put such unreasonable remarks against a family who are working hard to build up their business .Anyone reading the reviews for this hotel please believe the majority and not the few.

Excellent Xmas
9 / 10
Dec 2008, us

Have just spent a wonderful Xmas at the Hotel Concorde. Received a very warm welcome on arrival at this family run hotel. The hotel is only a few minutes from the train station which makes it easy to get to. The food was varied and well cooked and served by pleasant and helpful staff. The bar was a must place to visit because not only was there entertainment laid on every night, you also got the pleasure of the entertaining bar staff. They were always happy and had a smile and a chat with everyone. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and am looking forward to going back for anothere stay.

Work in progress

Just returned from a long weekend at the Concorde and I have to say that it was lovely. Our room (37) was huge and looked like it had just been re-ferbished. it was very very clean with a large walk in shower that was fantastic! It is a little tatty in places but as I think the new owners have only been in it for a short time, you can see from the room that we had, the high standards that they are aiming for. The food was fine for the price and plentyfull. I stop in hotels all over england with work and have eaten worse food at twice the price. For the price I think that it is very good value for money and will stop there again in the spring.

Fawlty Towers

When i visited the Concorde Hotel for an all inclusive holiday i was shocked to find that standards was far below what i am use to. I was even more surprised to find that some of the guests had no electricity, Hot water and heating. Also as you can see from the attached pictures my bathroom had a shower attachment of which had no chance of fitting to the taps and as you can see they are of different sizes. When i looked down the side of the bedside cabinet i found mold. above the wardrobe there were holes in the wall.
As for the food i had steak n ale pie Ha Ha there were 4 tiny cubes of indescribable meat. the food was obviously prepped and warmed up myself and a travel companion both had an upset stomach. I felt like i was in infant school with the RUDE waiting staff (obviously just out of nappies they were that young) telling my party to put their hands up when she read the pitiful menu out to us. The turkey and tinsel was a joke Dry curled up turkey which i didn't eat.
The entertainment if thats what you can call it consisted of a comedian/singer. I laughed my head off NOT!!!!
There were also some miserable people who sat around scowling at everyone. If they want a quiet holiday they should go to a secluded island and be miserable there. If it was not for my travel companions it would have been the worst holiday of my life. We had a great time entertaining each other.
I would recommend the Hotel owners need to have lessons in hospitality management. the slave labor should be trained waiters not obnoxious children.

great weekend

Dec 2008, mablel

we stayed at the hotel concorde on the weekend begining 28th november.
we had a warm welcome and were seen in very quickly
The entertainment on the first noght was very good the second night was a bit middle of the road and the final night was a very good comedian only spoilt by a group of very loud drunk people.
the food was good and the room we stayed at was warm and clean this is a family run hotel and the staff members certainly seem to go out of their way to make your holiday a good one.
The only problem we had was a group who were in the same dining room as us and were very loud the waiting staff had problems hearing their orders because they were shouting at each other. we would reccomend this hotel to anyone

Not a nice hotel

Dec 2008, fastdaz

9 of us stayed here in 4 rooms as part of the all inclusive celebration. would not recommend at all. The food was awful and all 9 of us had dodgy tummy's at some point during the holiday. our room had mold on the walls, a hole in the wall leading to the bathroom, odd taps so the shower attachment could not be fitted. Other rooms had no hot water for the whole time, peeling paint, no radiator just a plug in heater, dust that thick you could write your name on it, no blind at the bathroom window that was directly outside the car park and entrance, smelt musty and of foist. The whole place was just generally run down and scruffy and in desparate need of TLC. The best bits was the cream tea and the free bar for 3 hours a night. Most of the staff are snotty teenagers who ask you to put your hands up like your back at school when taking your order for dinner. Not a nice experience. Dont go there, be warned. Its also a trek to the sea front as well and not a short walk as the hotels's website would lead you to believe. check google earth if you want to see.

Great Week

Nov 2008, Hildao

Stayed at this hotel for a week not nearly long enough. We arrived after a very long journey to find a very warm welcome We were a group of six and requested rooms together which we got. Rooms were clean and comfy.
The evening meals were very nice and served promptly.
The evening entertainment was very good and the breakfast was lovely all served by english staff who took a pride in their work.
The whole week was just lovely and i would reccomend to anyone and have already booked to go back.
It is as other people have mentioned a family run hotel and they are very friendly

Excellent Break

Nov 2008, WilliamG

Just returned from another excellent holiday at the Concorde, cannot believe the change to the place in the nine months since we last visited, our room had new carpets, curtains, and bedroom furniture, we were in the same room as we had before because we rang Aileen the owner and requested it.Service excellent, food great plenty of choice and good portions. Bar staff great as always and still a free bar even with the credit crunch!
Will return and will be recommending to friends and family
