An excellent holiday; all staff...
10 / 10
Oct 2007, Ms N Charles

An excellent holiday; all staff whether it be waiters, reception, entertainment were all extremely welcoming and friendly.
They all make sure that you have a brilliant time while you are there and cannot do enough for you.
The food was amazing, always a wide variety and something for the kids.
The entertainment was brilliant for the kids with the 'dynamite disco' especially Mark going absolutely crazy with the animal song, my daughter really enjoyed it and is still doing the dances now she is home!!
The accommodation was always clean along with the rest of the hotel, pools, bars, etc.
We also had a lot of fun on the excursions and I can definitely say we will be going back next year!

I went to the Dome Beach Hotel in...
8 / 10
Jul 2007, Miss C Veysey

I went to the Dome Beach Hotel in October 2006 with my Nan. We stayed for 7nights and overall it was a good holiday with only minor faults.
We booked with Thomas Cook who were excellent and organised everything correctly.
The flight from Exeter airport with eurocypria was terrible and I would recommend you avoid travelling with this airline.
We arrived at the hotel at 8.00am and were immediately greeted and our bags were taken to our room while we swiftly checked in. Our room had been cleaned to a very high standard with fresh towels ready for us.
We didn't waste anytime unpacking and instead went straight down to breakfast.
The breakfast is buffet style and could not really be faulted as there is something to suit all tastes i.e. croissants and freshly baked bread, plenty of fruit, cereals, cooked breakfast, yoghurts, fresh fruit juices, waffles etc.
There is plenty of choice at lunch time however we found that the buffet dinner was very similar to the lunch menu and there could have perhaps been a greater variety. There were only the same choice of about 5 desserts for every day of our stay which we felt was perhaps not adequate of a 4star resort.

The all inclusive programme is definitely good value for money and the drinks are plentiful with a large variety to choose from. Also although you have to pay extra for international brands of drinks they are not that expensive so we didn't mind paying the extra some nights.
The hotel is located on two sandy beaches, one directly in front of the hotel and one to the side. They are both nice but the one to the side is white sand with a wide range of water sports and is perfect for swimming. The man that you hire the sun loungers from is very friendly and comes around with fresh fruit throughout the day. He can be very persistent though which is slightly annoying if you are already full up with all the food and snacks you get on the all inclusive programme.
He also wouldn't let up until we agreed to go paragliding which considering my nan is 66 was perhaps a little intense but we did go and really enjoyed the experience.
If you get the chance to do paragliding it isn't expensive and is well worth trying.
The hotel grounds are kept very clean but the pool is not heated and was far too cold to go in October so we stuck to swimming in the sea which was far warmer. The bar next to the pool does tea and cakes in the afternoon which was a nice touch after a day spent sunbathing on the beach.
When we went we were one of only two English families staying at the hotel , most of the rest were German's and the hotel definitely is geared up to cater for them in preference to everyone else.
Our biggest criticism would be the entertainment which was virtually non-existent. There was a themed Greek night which was badly organised and of a poor standard. The reps organised evening entertainment for the children which they seemed to enjoy but for adults all there is a TV showing sport in a separate room near the bar area and on occasional nights some singers who are also pretty poor.
We made good use of the tennis courts which have been well maintained.
The hotel is on the outskirts of Ayia Napa so you also cannot access any other entertainment on foot, however there is a supermarket and bar in walking distance and a cheap bus that runs regularly into Ayia Napa centre and also to the nearby resort of protaras (we wouldn't recommend protaras unless you want to go to a foreign version of Blackpool, Ayia Napa has much more on offer)
All in all the hotel is perfect for a relaxing break but perhaps best suited to families with young children or elderly couples that just want to lie on the beach and have very early nights.

On our last day we had to checkout quite early however our flight was not until last afternoon. They take your suitcases and put them into a locked room so you can still enjoy the rest of your time at the hotel and although are all inclusive wristbands were removed we asked if we could still go to lunch and they happily obliged. The staff are all lovely and they sent us a Christmas card last year as well.
GOOD POINTS:
-friendly, helpful staff
-located on two lovely beaches
-you can walk from the hotel along the coast round all the beautiful bays including the famous nissi beach which is beautiful and well worth a visit.
-good value for money
-plenty of choice of drinks and good service
-good choice at breakfast
-rooms cleaned well
BAD POINTS:
-your room card is put into a slot inside your room to activate the air conditioning meaning you can't have air con in the day and would have to come back to a stuffy room - we did however find a way around this, by using a credit card or similar in the slot it worked like the room card.
-very little entertainment
-freezing swimming pool
-location bit too far away from resort centre
-dinner and lunch was practically the same buffet food
-terrible flight with eurocypria
We are returning to Cyprus in August this year but to a different hotel which is more expensive but we feel will be better suited to our taste. However we have not ruled out going back here in the future as it was excellent value for money and we had a very nice, relaxing break.
I wouldn't be put off by this review as I have been quite critical and not really highlighted all the good points and believe me there are loads. However I think it is most important to be aware of the negatives to decide whether it is the hotel suited for you.
Enjoy your stay

Jul 2007, Mrs L Pringle

Had an excellent time at the dome hotel. The hotel was very clean and the bar and waiter service was also excellent!
All of the entertainment team (especially Mark!) were brilliant and made every effort to put on great shows! My son loved the Brazilian Soccer School so a special thanks to Danny!
A great holiday - one to remember! We will definitely think about booking up again!

Absolutely fantastic! Lovely hotel...
10 / 10
May 2007, Mrs J Shepherd

Absolutely fantastic!
Lovely hotel everybody is so attentive, they can't do enough for you. We had 2 days of storms and entertainment was stepped up to look after us.
Thomas cook team were out of this world (we love you mark, Linda, Leigh and Laura) they are officially Thomas cooks no1 entertainment team in the world, (according to recent ratings) there energy and enthusiasm is unbelievable.
We must not forget the Dome's entertainment staff Carlo, hana, zofia and Jana who also did a fab job.
We went with my parents and two very young children and were all catered for. Kids world girls Suzie, teish and Mel were also wonderful and looked after my daughter as if she was theirs (my daughter cried all the way to the airport when saying goodbye, she is only 4!)
I would strongly recommend this hotel it is immaculate and would definitely go back any day. It has a strong cosmopolitan feel and this made it even nicer that we could meet people from different countries.
We will never forget our time at the Dome and after reading some of the reviews wonder what some people expect from a 4 star all inclusive family based hotel!

I thought that the entertainment...
7 / 10
Apr 2007, Mrs S Kerensky

I thought that the entertainment staff and kid's club workers were second to none. Their enthusiasm and patience were as good as it could be, especially Mark, Linda and Zofia.
Internally the building was kept immaculately clean. However externally due to the Al Fresco eating arrangements the pool and dining areas were splattered with bird poo.
Worse still the birds were so used to people they would come too close and literally eat the food off your plate, if your table was unattended. I found them quite disconcerting.
Hind sight is always a bitter teacher, so I will always make point of finding out if you are expected to have breakfast and lunch outdoors, as I personally found the flocks of birds too dirty, you could even see it in the small cold children's pool.
I have been all inclusive before and this is the first time that there has been a time period after midnight, when you have to pay for your drinks or to hire sun beds and umbrella's from your hotel's beach.
I found the beach that belonged to the Dome too gritty and stony, you couldn't do sand castle games with the children because there was a layer of thick mud not far beneath the surface.
The beach next door was beautiful, the sun beds and umbrellas were £3.75 for two and well worth it as the beach is so lovely.
The down side was that it was a bit of a trek to use the hotel bars and toilets etc. When the weather was bad the management were quick to close down the two outdoor pools and leave only one barman on the Zepyros indoor bar!
All four Thomas Cook entertainers were talented and Mark and Linda were as brilliant as the acts you see in the Royal Varity show. The management didn't seem to have enough staff so there could be a fair bit of queuing at times.
When I booked this holiday, I went into my local branch and chatted about the holiday and stated what my requirements were, I tried to book the same holiday on the internet but was too close to the leaving date so I had to phone.
I think that I am quite easy to please when I go on holiday I want somewhere hot and sunny where I can happily swim in the sea and hotel swimming pools. I want to be nice and warm walking around in shorts and T-shirts.
When I was away we had thick heavy rain, strong winds and generally cloudy and overcast, with couple of sunny days, that I made the most of. The people who live in Cyprus said that April was far too early in the year for that kind of weather.
Their air conditioning units will only blow out hot air. So if the local professionals know this, then why don't the Thomas Cook holiday sales teams know this too?

What a hotel!!
Entertainment team were fantastic. If you want a hotel to entertain Dome Beach is it.
Linda, Leigh, Laura and mark were amazing! Never ever have I met anyone with as much as energy as mark he is hilarious and your guaranteed to love him by the end of your stay.
All the entertainment reps are welcoming and come and chat to you, they even come up to reception to say goodbye when you leave which is lovely, as they will def make your holiday the best!
Hotel was spotless maids were everywhere ensuring rooms, grounds hotel were clean.

Lovely clean hotel, clean rooms, nice...
8 / 10
Apr 2007, Mr A Kerensky

Lovely clean hotel, clean rooms, nice sandy beach 2 minutes walk from our apartment.
Thomas Cook staff very good, excellent entertainment. Mark Lawson is a very good entertainer for the Thomas Cook company, we were lucky to have him at our resort.
Two eating areas, one indoors and one outside, can I suggest if you don't like sitting on chairs covered in bird poo, you eat indoors.
Food and drink typical of 'all inclusive' type resorts we have stayed at before.
There is a kids club and our 5 year old daughter loved it. The brochure said one pool was heated...it was not.
The kids disco is great for young ones.
The staff were helpful and friendly however occasionally you could pick up on the fact that the staff were not always friendly to each other.
The hotel is very much self contained; the beaches are not the property of Dome Beach hotel so expect to pay £1-£2 per day for the hire of recliners and sun umbrellas.
I would have given this holiday a 9 but the birds and eating area need addressing.
Overall I don't think you will be disappointed with this resort.

Very attentive to your needs upon...
7 / 10
Apr 2007, Mr D Clowes

Very attentive to your needs upon arrival. Porters were on hand to take bags to the rooms. Rooms were clean if not a little small.
We were a family of four (2 kids) in the same room. The fourth bed was a camp bed. This meant very little space actually in the room. Our room, however, was ground floor.
The patio door opened up onto the kid’s pool area. This made a great location for daily pool use.
The pools were both un-heated and therefore extremely cold. They were clean and safe. There was always a lifeguard on patrol.
Food was plentiful and apart from the greasy mundane breakfast that you always get in this type of resort, the rest of the meals were good.
The hotels location on the Makronissos beach is fantastic. Clean, clear water, beautiful sand all within a 1 minute walk from our room.
I have to mention the entertainment team... Totally awesome.... Mark, Laura, Linda, Leigh and the beautiful but dim Sophia. Brilliant (British) entertainment every night.
The very talented and never modest Mark is truly destined for greater heights.
We went at the start of the season. It wasn't too busy and we were looked after. We had the impression that things aren't as rosy during the height of the season.

We booked our flights direct with...
7 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs S Harvey

We booked our flights direct with Cyprus Airways and accommodation only with the tour operator. We decided not to go all inclusive this year, and it worked out cheaper for our family of three (2 adults & 1 teenager (15yrs).
Despite requesting inter-connecting rooms, these were not provided and we could not move as the hotel was full.
Good facilities including great swimming pools, exceptionally clean in all areas, new beach/pool towels provided every day and nicely furnished rooms.
You have to pay CYP1 per sun bed on the beach but this keeps the locals away, so is a good thing.
Sun beds by the main pool are close together and not very easy to move as they are quite tightly packed.
T&R Water sports provide the usual jet skis and banana boat. Very poor service at the bars (we waited nearly 30mins one night to be served) and you are not encouraged to clutter the serving area by the bar staff. Very few waitresses serving at the bars in the evening.
Poor entertainment each night - only to be endured in short bursts after a few ouzos!
We will not return due to the poor service, but overall this is a nice hotel with good facilities.

Brilliant holiday. Been to Cyprus...

Aug 2005, J Evans

Brilliant holiday. Been to Cyprus last year and decided to go back this year.
On arriving at the Hotel, the relaxation began. Porters available to take your luggage to your room. Beautiful large reception area including a small inexpensive souvenir shop.
Small supermarket and a few bars about 10 minutes walk.
2 Beautiful beaches - the one next to the hotel is best for swimming as it is not rocky.
If you enjoy Watersports - use T&R watersports on the beach nearest the hotel. All staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Menu varied every day for the 2 weeks we were there, and even if you were a fussy eater, you can always find something to eat.
Rooms were cleaned every day to a very high standard. Different coloured towels were provided for use at the beach or pool. Taxis are cheap enough - £5 Cypriot to Ayia Napa (certainly more than the 45 minute walk advised by the reps!!!)
Waterpark great, however always very busy with large queues. Great location if you want nothing more than to chill out and do nothing.

Lovely friendly clean hotel. Nothing...

Jul 2005, Mrs N J Geden

Lovely friendly clean hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Children were kept entertained in the kids club ,whilst mummy and daddy chilled out on the sun loungers or had a swim in the heated pool. It was a bit hot sometimes (the pool that is)
There was a little row of shops and tavernas at the top of the road, which was handy if you were not all inclusive.
On the whole we had a very enjoyable stay!
