Dalla Mora Hotel

We stayed at Hotel Dalla Mora in May 2007. The room rate seemed really cheap for Venice so we were a bit skeptical. But we were pleasantly surprised. It is far from a luxury hotel and our room & bathroom were quite small, but it was clean and secure (the front door is always locked). The location was fantastic - it's right in Venice, and since the island is so small you're not far from anything. Breakfast was very basic, but with all the amazing cafes in Venice, who cares? We stayed there one night since Venice was our last stop on our trip to Italy after 7 days. Very close to Piazzale Roma, where we parked our car, which really saved us since we had heavy load on our shoulders. The hotel is small (we liked that), clean, with helpful staff. It has a small verandah right over the canal, where we could drink our coffee and smoke our cigarette, cleaning our minds from everything. We were lucky because we stayed at room No.5 the window of which is just over the canal, with pivate bathroom and next to the verandah.... more

We stayed here for 2 nights. They only had rooms left that had shared bathrooms, but we were so impressed with the cleanliness and standard of them. The rooms are basic but immaculate. The rooms with the Canal view are lovely. This is great value for money if you are travelling on a budget, we would definitely stay here again as it is very close to the station and easy to get around the city from. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the breakfast ladies are very attentive .

I found this gem here at TripAdvisor, and the reviews did not lie. We loved the location since we had arrived by cruise ship, and the hotel is very close to Piazza Roma where the buses are. We had an easy walk when we arrived and then four days later when we took a bus to the airport. This is a very basic hotel, but it fit our needs perfectly. We stayed one night at the Hotle Dalla Mora after a cruise. We were able to walk from the ship to the hotel without too much trouble. This hotel was clean and great for the price. It is a no frills hotel with no TV or phone in the room. However who needs a TV in Venice! It is easy walking distance to Plazza Roma where you can catch the Vaporritti to St Marks Square. My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights. Front desk were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were very clean and nice size. Free breakfast every morning was a great bonus. We had a double room with sink and shower. Toilet was next door. One thing to note is that the shower is one of those stand-alone showers so it does not allow for much privacy. We ended up using the shower down the hall. Room had great views of a canal and was a short walk to the train station. If I come to Venice again I will stay here for sure! It was really nice.

This hotel may have a one star rating but, apart from the price, you wouldn't know it! We enjoyed a pleasant 15 minute walk from the station and had no problems finding, it even at 7pm. We were pleased to find our room (quad with own bathroom) was spacious and clean with lovely views from three very large windows. We enjoyed the location -away from the bustle of crowds but with enough passers-by to feel safe at night. The staff were helpful and breakfast was simple but adequate. We spent two nights at the Hotel Dalla Mora as part of a two week trip though Italy and were really happy with it. We had a sink and shower in our room and shared a toilet with 3 other rooms, which was no problem. The room decor was simple, and as the other reviewer stated, a little bit dated, but it was clean and very pleasant. Ask for a room with a canal view - we had three big windows that looked directly out onto the canal, and we loved watching the gondolas float by in the evenings. stayed one night (oct 3,2006). We reached venice around 10PM by train and were able to find the location with the walking directions on their website and a little bit of luck. person at front desk was friendly. rather small shower stall. I recommend the city map from tourist booths (2.50 euros) for anyone who wants to stray away from grand canal as it's very easy to get lost in venice.

This is a great hotel. The location is perfect for wandering the streets of Venice. A comfortable walk to St Marks square. The staff are friendly and laid back. The decor in the room is some what dated but the location makes up for this and the view from the shared balcony is just beautiful. Be prepared to be serenaded by gondolas as they float past your bedroom window! The included breakfast is perfect, not to much but just enough. This is the cheapest hotel we stayed in during our trip to France and Italy and it would be up there... more
