We booked a 4 night stay for 8 women for a long weekend last September
The Villa was awful, musty, dirty, dark and very very dated. There was no one there who introduced themselves as the caretaker None of the cleaning ladies spoke English, There was only a couple of plates and a few knives No pans or crockery for 8 people. If we had been expecting to self cater we would have been stuck. There was no welcome pack and not one toilet roll which as we got in late evening and the shops were shut a real problem! the cupboard doors in the kitchen were loose and one was held on by one hinge The beds are so very uncomfortable as are the pillows We ended up rolling up our coats as a pillow, and the fans(not enough for every room) were filthy covered in a sticky dirt. The bathrooms were depressing and generally tired. the towels were so thin and hard you couldn't use them, The beds were crammed into tiny rooms and you couldn't open the window. They are built against a cliff so that may be one reason why our Villa was so very musty and looked like it had been shut up for ages.
The swimming pool is only in the sun am then it too gets very cold The sea is very near but can be quite rough The village itself is very quiet but pleasant enough for a few days.
All in all a very poor villa and when we got back we complained to little avail.hey sent me several sarcastic replies to my comments.
We were told we should have complained at the time - not sure who too though.
It was not a cheap option and was not worth the money and we would never book with Hoseasons again

Just enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing holiday.
Our villa ( which we booked indepently) No 11 - was spacious, clean and some really lovely homely touches- even welcome pack on arrival. Lovely large private terrace at the rear of the villa - had some great BBQs.
The pool situated in the centre of the complex was really sociable - without being too busy. Our kids which are 13 and 8 really loved it.
The beach in walking distance is just fabulous - with stunning views.
We did hire a car - so spent time all around the north of the island.

okay, so these villas are really well-located for all amenities but are in desperate need of a few upgrades to make for a pleasant holiday. if you've booked villa no. 9 pls beware - it smells really badly of must. really badly. due to positioning, it doesn't seem to get the sun at all. cut up lots of lemons and place them in the cupboards. this seems to help a little. cockroaches in the kitchen, ants in the bed (no food had been eaten in the room). clean upon arrival however and survivable. we were there in poor weather which probably made our experience not as good as it may have been in sunnier weather. pool in need of a spruce up too. only saw staff day or arrival and departure. plus there was no kettle and the crockery was desperately old and very chipped. unfortunately we wouldn't stay again.

If your looking for somewhere peaceful and enjoyable the villas are fantastic, very spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable. There is a lovely pool that is shared by all the villas in the middle of the complex.
Not to far from the beach, shops and restaurant. If you have difficultly in walking I would not recommend them.
I have been to the Botana Villas a couple of times now and highly recommend then to anyone and the staff that look after them are very friendly and willing to help should you have any problems.
A lovely place for a family holiday.

We've just returned from our holiday at Botana Villas and wanted to write some up to date information on these villas, having read the very negative reviews from 2007 and 2008. Our three bedroom villa was spacious, spotlessly clean and definitely didn't smell musty! It was well furnished and had comfortable beds. The setting for the villa complex is glorious: the villas are in a wooded area and surrounded by well kept gardens. The upper row of villas have a lovely view of the mountains and we had several lovely barbecues on our terrace looking out towards the mountains. The pool was lovely and a most relaxing place to be. It was well maintained, clean and surrounded by trees and pretty shrubs. The actual pool is shaded in the afternoon, but there is sun around the edge of the pool for sunbathing from 10am until 7pm. Because the pool is shaded for part of the day it is a bit cold, but this is not really a problem if the weather is good.
The only complaint we had at all about the villa was that the kitcen was a bit small and the gas cooker was very basic and a bit temperamental. Apart from that, we would really recommend these villas as good value for money and in a glorious and very convenient setting.
The villas are a short stroll (less than 5 mins) from the beach and shops so very convenient and a car would not be essential, although the local supermarket doesn't really sell any fresh/frozen meat so shopping would be a bit difficult for evening meals.
The nearest beach was charming with very good snorkelling. There is a local cycle hire shop in Cala which we used and we would definitely recommend them as they were very friendly and helpful.The area is great for cycling. We booked via Villa Centre and found they were very helpful when there was a problem with our booking, so would use them again.
