We stayed at California hotel with little children. We had apartment with little area, where we could take sun and have coffee in the morning.
The rooms were clean; cleaning-lady Delia was very nice. People at reception were nice too.
The location of hotel is good. 10 min to the beach, car rentals, supermarkets, restaurants around the hotel.
What very important for us - it was very quiet in the nights.
The pool was meant only for adults, but we took our children (2 years old) with us to the pool and the water wasn’t cold for them.
It could be more TV channels, but those 3 were OK too.

My husband and i were quite impressed when we arrived at the apartments. The rooms are basic but kept spotlessly clean. We are not under 40 so to discover its a 18-30 was a surprise but we had not one single complaint about noise either beside the pool or in the apartments at all.
The staff are so friendly and nothing is a problem to them. Great nightlife, 5 mins from your door with so many places to eat. If you like Chinese there are at least six, a 5 mins walk away, we tried them all - very cheap too. Shopping is fabulous and i must recommend Blaydon Races you have to check out this bar - brilliant fun. We stayed two weeks and i would book California Apartments again because they are so close to everything you would need.

California Apartments are in a great location - 10 minute walk to beach and bars and just around the corner from some lovely restaurants. Spar, Netto, bus stops, and taxi rank just outside main gates.
The apartments themselves are well maintained. Maids come every day - they are a bit noisy first thing in the morning, chatting away outside your room! Towels changed 5 times a week and bedding changed very frequently too. Staff in reception friendly and helpful.
The negative side to the apartments are that the pool area is small in comparison to the number of apartments it is supposed to accommodate and although there are quite a lot of sunbeds, there aren't enough for the number of people.
For the first few days we also had quite a few cockroaches to greet us as we returned back to the apartment in the early hours. Tip: borrow some spray from reception (it kills them straight away!) and keep some lights on when you go out at night - that seemed to keep them away!
The apartments are definitely for late teens/early 20s. There seemed to be mostly groups of boys and girls and a few couples. Most stop around the pool area till 7pm ish drinking, go to bed for a sleep and then head out past midnight. It can be noisy in the early hours when they head back to the apartments.
Playa de las Americas is a great resort for everybody - families, couples, groups. Plenty to do loads of walking, sunbathing, trips etc.
Recommended: Aqua Land - bus picks you up outside the apartment. Little Italy restaurants - we tried three of them - fantastic food every time. Shenanigans bar for evening entertainment - the Loony Tunes are brilliant!
All in all, it was a great holiday. We would definitely go back to Playa de las Americas although at 26 and 34 we were a little on the old side for these apartments! If you're 18 and on the pull these apartments are definitely for you!

I have stayed at these apartments 3 times (always in January) and have always found them to be well cleaned if a little basic.
The studios are quite large and balconies always get the sun. They are fairly well equipped compared to other places I have stayed.
The apartments are fine for a winter week break, however as there is no aircon I would imagine they would be very hot in summer, we had to open patio door at night to let some air in when we staggered in from the Sax Bar or Dubliner in the early hours.
For excellent breakfast or lunch visit the California bar (1st bar on your left as you go towards Apartments from main road. Dave and Mary will make you very welcome.
At night it depends on your taste in entertainment we visited the Anchor bar one night since it was nearby it had a very good soul singer 'Mr D' - whose act was almost ruined by a waiter who wanted to be the star of the show, twirling around on the empty dance floor.
We prefer the Sax Bar at the Patch where Ian Rockcliffe will rock you with his guitar skills and the owner Tam Kellichan from Lochgelly shows he can still play the drums as good as his days with the Skids (didn’t have the grey hair then!)
The Dubliner band are also very good with another exceptional guitarist they stop playing at 3am.
The California apartments have an excellent maid service and are fine for a week, but I don’t think I would stay there for 2 weeks, but I would stay there again.

When me and my partner booked these apartments we thought we had got a great bargain for our money. However this was not the case!!! We were told that these apartments were very family orientated and as we were travelling with my one year old daughter thought it would be ideal. When we arrived there were around 20 young males in and around the pool area (which is very small for the size of the complex). These males were very drunk at around 12:00 and drinking in the pool. The bar had even run out of drink this one day. I refused to take my little girl into the pool with such rowdy behaviour going on in there.
However the rooms were clean and tidy and maids visited regularly even though they were miserable. The apartments could definitely do with a lick of paint. No cockroaches what-so-ever in our room. We just left the lights on. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Fans and safety deposit boxes very cheap to hire. Location great which was a bonus seeing as we could not get into or around the pool. Right in the centre with loads of bars and restaurants nearby (which was also good because hotel food minging).
Overall this was a great holiday for me and my family. Tenerife is a lovely place to holiday (very hot) with loads to do for all kinds of people, Loro Parque being one of the best. I just wish the person that said this was a very family orientated complex had actually done some research on it before saying this.
Its superfamily only holidays for me from now on!

We went for two weeks knowing what to expect from las americas but not from the hotel, so it was a nice surprise when we arrived at the California apartments. Having read some of the reviews about the place I was a bit worried but it was very clean, the maids came daily to change sheets even when the notice in the room said that weds and sats were rubbish only.
There was no entertainment at the hotel but lets face it what is the point of staying in las americas a few hundred yards from veronicas and staying in the hotel at night, I’ll save that for when I’m a lot older.
The pool was adequate and clean. going back to previous reviews all I can say is they have repainted most of the rooms and hotel walls, the pool is fine, all the rooms are being refurbed out of season and as for the cockroaches, it’s Tenerife, they are everywhere. If you are concerned about them ask reception for a bug spray.

We have just come back from the California apartments in Tenerife and found the place to be nice but slightly in need of a few extras here and there.
The place could do with some evening entertainment as there is plenty of room by the pool once the sun beds have been put away. The swimming pool could do with draining as there are sharp tiles in the deep end of the pool and a few people while we were there cut there feet. Other then that the rooms were clean and tidy and the maid came in at least 4 times.
We did keep our room on after 12 pm as we had a very late flight and it was very cheap at just 15 Euros. There is a shower room which is very clean as at busy times rooms are not always available to keep on after 12 pm.
The apartments are close to super markets and restaurants and a 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach and main night life.
All in all we have a good time at the California apartments.

I stayed in the California Hotel during July. The room was clean upon arrival however the maids did not seem to visit regularly enough, and only changed our sheets and towels twice during our stay.
Also, there seemed to be a large amount of cockroaches. The pool was quite small considering the California's size, and the hotel walls were desperately in need of a coat of paint. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, however, I would not recommend the apartments to families as there is a lot of noise in the early hours which makes sleeping impossible.
The apartment was of a good size with a nice balcony, with basic but clean bathroom facilities. I would not return to stay at the California Apartments, mostly due to the noise at night time, however if you intend to go out every night and stay out late, this accommodation would be perfect.

We booked this holiday as a last minute thing about 2 weeks before we left. We were a bit apprehensive about going because we didn’t know what we were letting ourselves in for.
When we first arrived at the hotel we looked up at the dirty white walls and thought what have we let ourselves in for? And as soon as we entered the reception area we knew that we had made a mistake by coming here.
The apartments were overall pretty clean, although we did see about 5 or six cockroaches, but that couldn’t be helped, though my daughter was hysterical every time she saw them!
If you have a family I wouldn’t recommend it as there is no entertainment to keep the children busy and my 2 got very bored. I thoroughly enjoyed Tenerife and will definitely go back there again but next time I definitely WONT be staying in the California apartments!

The California Hotel was very basic but perfect for exploring around Las Americas. Although basic it was very clean and was the rooms were serviced regularly. Just a 10 minute walk away from the golden sandy beach and within easy walking distance of all the bars and shopping centres. The sun beds were free and the pool clean. The poolside bar was open all day and the staffs were all friendly. A shower room was available on the day of leaving although we could not keep our room on after the 12pm checkout time.

I stayed at the California apartments with my sister in April 2003 and have just booked up to stay there again this coming April. The apartments are in a prime location just 5mins walk to the resort centre and 5mins in the other direction to the beach.
Because we stayed out of peak season we didn’t encounter any noise, I’m fact the apartments were very quiet went we were there, no complaints.
The staff were on hand and were very friendly we even got talking to the Italian one from Milan who was lovely! The pool was adequate but in peak season would be extremely crowded yet in April it was empty. We tended to go to the beach more often just because it was a nice walk down n the wind really picked up around the pool area.
the apartments were very clean and we were on the ground floor which we were a little worried about went we 1st got there but felt very safe in the end. We only saw 1 cockroach which was a bonus n that was It.
we booked up privately though so had a taxi ready for us each way to and from the airport which was a help but there is a taxi rank just a min walk down the rd from the apartments.
all in all I had a great time although it took me a week to recover when I got back and I’m looking forward to going again this coming April.

I stayed at the California Apartments for one week in November 2007 with my girlfriend. I booked on the internet, the holiday included flights, and accommodation and transfers for £200 which I thought was a fantastic price.
I thought the California apartments were excellent for the price. The rooms are cleaned nearly every day and the cleaners were very thorough. Rooms are basic but no complaints - apart from the TV only having 3 channels (no sky sports news!)
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartments have swimming pool (slightly heated!) pool table, table tennis, and internet access. The location is very central and a spar on the doorstep!
I would recommend for couples and families during the winter months. I believe the apartments would be very popular with the younger generation in the summer months!
