Having decided on Tenerife as our destination for our family holiday i booked what i thought was a family based apt with Alpharooms.com. We wanted to be in the centre of the resort. Having read what Alpharooms had to offer we decided on the family friendly apts of the Carolina Apts. However, having arrived at these apts we were soon to discover our mistake. Little did we know that we had been placed into hell. I did not mind that it was slightly run down, we called it our 70s theme park, the rooms were big and airy. Staff were nice and friendly, However i fail to see how these apts can be described as family based when all it was full of were yobs aged 18+. All day long they sit, scream, spit, drink, around the pool throwing chips,beer cans and cigarette ends into the pool.When we as a family wanted to use it, we were met by naked bodies male and female lying around on loungers asleep. Nighttime was horrible, it was an endless barage of screaming, bottle throwing, abusive language and loud music. If you want to be kept up all night and day visit these apts. Having complained to the manager he immediately agreed to put us up in the sister hotel Compostela Beach. We ran out of there as quick as we could.

i went to tenerife with a group of five girls for a week of drinking and sunbathing and thats exactly what we got. california apartments exceeded our expectations as the rooms were comfortable, clean and they had huge full length mirrors which were great for getting ready to go out. Sometimes the staff were a bit moody but it didnt ruin our holiday. I would highly recommend California apartments for any young people who are in tenerife for the night life but probably not for families as no one tends to go to sleep.

when i read some of the previous reviews i wasn't sure what to think as they were quite mixed but have no fear because the apartments are great.
the rooms were big and the hotel extremly clean our rooms were cleaned almost everyday and towels and sheets changed every other day!
the only reason i didnt give this place a 10 was because of the noise at night. its not the fault of the hotel staff i guess it just depends on whos there on holiday when u happen to be there. but hey this is a young and lively resort and thats what u come here for
i would defo reccommend this hotels for groups of friends and young couples i don't think older people would like it here.
overall the hotel was really nice and we had a lovely holiday the staff were really friendly and couldn't be faulted!

This holiday cost us in total £280. It was booked last minute and as we had planned to just use the apartments for sleeping in we werent that bothered about what we were getting. We were amazed at what we actually got. We had booked to have a apartament that sleeps 4 people but when we got there we got told that the family rooms were fully booked so they were putting us into the studio rooms and ended up having 2 rooms instead of the 1. We were very happy with this as it meant we would have two showers and plently more space for all our stuff. The apartments were very spaceous and the rooms we were in got a lot of sun on the balcany so after a long day out you could still sit out on it and catch some rays. I would advise anyone booking with this apartment to take advantage of the rented fan or take one with them as the rooms are very hot. We ended up leaving the balcany door open a little at night to let some air in and also during the day when we were in the apartments we left both front and balcany door open to let the little breeze come through.
Another tip for anyone going to these apartments is to not eat in the little cafe there as you can get better food for cheaper at other restraunts. Id recomment The George, its three doors down from the apartments and has the best food and is reasonably priced.
Before going i read a few reviews about cockroaches. In my stay at these apartments the only ones i seen were in the streets and there is a dark light corridor we had to walk through which normally had one cockroach. As long as they werent in the room we werent really caring to be honest.
Would totally recommend this apartments althought more so for younger people or people who dont mind the ramblings of people coming in at all hours. There was one person who got upset and banged some doors as we walked in one night. So if your cool with a little drunkeness coming in then i would come here.

Booked with OTB for 12 lads for 4 days/3 nights. Turned up to be told it was double booked and we where being upgraded to a family hotel. What a great thing to do for a party of 12 lads ! Surely they knew doing that would not go to well where we where going !!! It didnt either by the way !!
Once moved we ended up spending the daytime back at the california. If you want clean, cheap accomodation close to all the nighlife then this is the place, beer is cheap 2 happy hours a day food is ok, pool is a good size, what else do you want for the price !!

If you have got children, please dont go to these apartments, they are a dump.They should be advertised as a club 18-30 holiday. We chose to go for the last week of the school holidays, and our daughter was the only child there. There was no entertainment only a beer cruise, which would set you back 145euros, and that was everything and that is not suitable for the travellers as the ages of our party were 7, 25, 42, 60 and 61. The pool area was small and with large groups of lads and girls it was not a very nice place to take our daughter, so we used to go in the pool arond 9am before they were all up, when it was cold.. Then for 3days we were unable to as there was food in the pool, grease, where people had been throwing food down from the balconys. Night time- well if you want to have a sleep that is out of the question because the partying goes on all night, sometimes till 6am. I complained several times but that made no differnce. At the evening there is only a secruity guard who is about 70 and all he does is sleep in the reception area with the tv on (very loud).. I would never use these apartments again not even as a group party.....

Can not fault the Calafornia Apartments, very clean,rooms were huge,well we had the villas behind the hotel but they were still massive, toaster cooker, fridge and a power shower, massive balcony and comfy beds, there were 3 of us on holiday and all girls and we loved every minute of it, its a 5 minute walk away from the main strip and there is so many cheap places to eat out.
we are planning to go back same time next year with a bigger group of friends.

I stayed at this hotel july last year with 6 of my friends!
This hotel was fab for the price as we only payed £280 for 10days!
The hotel staff were friendly & helpful the only problem was even though this hotel was a 18-30's, if u was loud or had music on past 9pm then u would be fined by the security guard 60euros! As lik most ppl we didnt go out till 11-12pm so this was abit of a problem for us!
Our room was very clean & had everything you needed for self-catering! The maid was lovey! however our shower was freezing all the time! which wasnt too bad as it would cool u dwn but we always dreaded having one! lol!
The pool was cleaned everyday & was small but nice! there was enough sunbeds around the pool but u had 2 get one by 11am the latest. due to the postion of the hotel the sun didnt came around till about then anyways!
They did snacks & drinks in the day around the pool which were up to good standard!
Nightlife is about 20mins walk away, had some fab bars that do all types of music!
we went to a kareoke bar which was 5doors away (right) from out hotel which was a laugh the owners are mad but very friendly! lovely cocktails here!

Theres a good supermarket oppisite & the beach is about 20mins walk but to get to the nice part dont walk dwn to it, walk right as you came out of the gates of the hotel!
There was also a nice british pub nextstoor but one thats did lovely cooked breakfasts!
I would go here again but dont advise familys to go here!

Nice place, outside swimming pool, Jacuzzi. The only problem I had was that I travelled with two adults (who were registered disabled) another adult and a 4 year old.
The only twin rooms they had were on the top floor and there was no lift (97 steps to top floor) as there was 5 of us and the twin rooms were only on the top floor it was hard going for the elderly people in our party.
Food in the hotel was ok, nothing to write home about. Check out Fu Lin. A chinese all you can eat 7.50 Euros for adults and 3.95 Euros for kids-very nice. Only 5 mins from hotel.

Booked these Apartments in April 07 turned up on 28 Dec 07 for a week only to be told that we were being moved to another hotel because the apartments were double booked. Moved us to their sister apartments Bonanza (near Costa Adeje).
Reception staff at California did not offer an apology for this inconvenience to us. We had received no information about the apartments being double booked before leaving the UK which I find utterly disgraceful. On speaking to other people who live in the resort these apartments are famous for double booking and not informing you until you arrive. Met quite a few others who had this happen to them also. Would NOT book these apartments again.
