Dissapointed
from Maroulita
I found the hotel overpriced and was definately not what I expected. It is considered an OK hotel amongst the locals but the service was a bit dissapointing. Firstly the swimming pool is medium to small and not very clean. The room I was given had no view, the hangers for the towels in the bathroom were broken and bed knobs were easily removed if you happen to touch them and a rusty surface was revealed underneath (dangerous if you have kids running around!) When I asked for a coffee in the morning I was initially refused to be...

okay, but some problems
from travelglobe
We stayed at the Madalena Hotel for three nights. Personally, I found the hotel way over-priced even for Mykonos. The staff is indifferent at best, the breakfast very uninspiring and the so-called views non-existent. Looking at their website one would think that at great view of the harbour would await the guest but that's not what we found. The views are obstructed and nothing to write home about anyway. The room was large but we had leaks in both our toilet and sink. The sink was clogged the whole time we were there (thought the...

Great Budget Hotel.
from bezantandmurrey
I stayed at the Madalena Hotel for a week at the beginning to June. Mrs Madalena (I think that's her name) was very friendly and helpful. Although her English wasn't great. (But my Greek is worse) Her daughter and grandaughter were very helpful. The rest of the staff was friendly. I was first given a room with a twin beds. Then the next day I was moved to a room with a large double bed and a spectacular view. The rooms were clean and the linens were changed daily. The breakfast is basic. Bread, butter, jams, cheese,...

Pleased with the Madalena Hotel
from daguerre
After having my reservation at the Hotel Elysium unceremoniously canceled by the owner, we were left scrambling to find other accomodations on Mykonos. We were able to secure accomodations at the Madalena Hotel. Other than a long wait for a pick-up at the cruise boat dock, we were quite happy with the accomodations. They aren't fancy, but are close-in to town, perfectly functional, and the place is in keeping with the essence of Mykonos. The staff was cordial and helpful. We would stay there again without hesitation.
Basic but fine
from Mandy3
5 of us stayed here in July, 2005 for 3 nights. We had one triple room (3 single beds) and 1 double room (1 double bed). Great views to water, port and a bit of the town. Easy few hundred metre walk into town. Coming back to hotel is a lot harder, all uphill in the summer heat. But there is a nice clean pool to get into when you arrive. The rooms were very basic, but clean enough and housekeeping called in every day. The double room was in a lot better shape than the triple room. It had an air-conditioning unit that had the water...

As the previous review states, this hotel has amazing views of the sea, a pool and is quite close into town but far enough so its not disturbed by noise. Rooms are basic but clean with aircon and tv and how much time will you spend in the room in a place like Mykonos? Views more than make up for "basicness".
Rooms So Ugly, Had to Get an Hotel Change
from A TripAdvisor Member
I had picked Madalena hotel after a detailed search on travel catalogues and the web, including TripAdvisor as a source of information. I booked a single room (apparently the only one in the hotel) through Italy's leading tour operator, mid June 2005. Upon my arrival, I was appalled at the state of the room: reeeeally tiny, extremely dirty, with an horrible bathroom. The only cupboard and the bathroom door were broken, the only chair filthy, nothing to hang a jacket or a towel on, the blankets stinking. I complained, to no avail....

OK Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this hotel for only one night in August of 2004. The pictures on the website made it look a lot better than it was. The room was ok, nice and airy when all of the doors and windows were open, but not what I was expecting. The beds were a little narrow and not very comfortable. Reminded me of the beds I used to have in my dorm in college. It was nice to have a kitchen with a hotplate and pots, but the kitchen area was not in great shape. The pots and pans had seen many a better day and many of them needed to be washed...

Magdalena is my Myconos
from A TripAdvisor Member
I have stayed at this hotel at least 25 times and have seen many improvements. The location is excellent, a 10 minute walk from town, the sunsets are incredible from the various terraces and balconies. The owners Nicholas and Magdalena Kabouraglow go way out of their way to accommodate each guest. The rooms are basic and small but with views that come along with them, it never mattered to me. The property is on a steep cliff overlooking the ferry terminal and has recently carved a swimming pool into the rocks it is built on. There is...
