Valamar Club Dubrovnik Hotel

We stayed here a week in May 08 and booked a package holiday through a UK operator. We had the all inclusive option and there were three of us travelling, including our 4 year old son. The hotel was really nice, very clean and the public areas modern and well looked after. The room was a little on the small side (perhaps because we had an extra single bed in for our son) and the bathroom tiny but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway so we managed just fine. Having just spent half term week at this hotel, our party was 2 adults and 4 teenagers, I can report that all in all it was a very enjoyable experience. The rooms although basic where clean and well presented, although we did pay the small premium for sea views and I'm not totatly sure but suspect that some of the lower charged rooms might be in need of a refurb. A nice place, a friendly staff and great value. I requested a quiet room and it was so far away I only heard birdsong. For €70.00 I got three buffet meals, all one could eat and some of it pretty good, and wine and beer included. Of course the meals lacked relaxation as we all rushed around foraging at different outlets but it was good fun. valamar club is a 3 star hotel, but in my mind its better... me n my friends stayed there 9 nights and 10 days. Location of hotel at babin kuk region; excatly reverse side of the old city. Old city or walled is the turistic area of the dubrovnik. There is a bus stop near to the hotel but, you have to climbe very hard hill!! tickets are one way and 8 kuna at hotel 10 kuna if u buy it from bus. if u wanna go to pile(old city) you must take the buses number 6 or 6A. Myself and my boyfriend stayed for two weeks last year: - Room was poor. Fan was so loud we could hardly sleep. Walls were very thin. Wasn't very clean. Found a filthy blanket in the wardrobe. - Staff not very friendly. - We are in our late 20's and we didn't see anyone our age in the hotel for the whole two weeks. 99% of guests were over 60. - The pool and it's location is great. steps from the pool bring you down to a small beach which is beautiful. This hotel is an absolute gem! We went in the October half term and although it was the last week of the season, we were well looked after by the staff and the facilities were wonderful. The situation of the hotel is stunning with the most amazing views from the poolside - it looked better than the pictures in the brocure! We had a great time a Hotel Minceta. Staff were very friendly. We were the only English there as no holiday company from England go there so it was great, (hotel next door had bingo for entertainment!) French and Germans very friendly and Veronika of the animation team made time to talk to us. Food very good for the money and we had plenty of choice. We were eating 3 four course meals a day! Well i went to the hotel minceta for 2 weeks with my family and my first impressions were good and it looked very nice and you could hear the music playing and people having fun, after a few days the meals started gettin really boring and tasteless and after eating out the food at the hotel was horribe. i ate salad all week. The pools were very nice and the reps were very friendly but they didnt do very much, and at night the entertainment was quiet rubbish. i advise that people who are disabled or have heart problem... more

A clean environment with reasonably nice rooms. Great pool if you can get down to it as there are many stairs. The hill outside the hotel to get to the road is very steep, unsuitable hotel for aged or disabled people. All inclusive service advertised but very limited. No spirits until 6pm, poor cola and soft drinks. No snacks available through day, eat at set times or not at all. The poorest all inclusive I have tried.

We were a bit concerned about trying an all inclusive hotel for the first time as sometimes they get bad press. We need not have been worried at all as the Hotel Minceta was absolutely great. The staff bent over backwards to be helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and the choice excellent. The situation was also lovely and the views from the rooms which overlook the sea was beautiful.
