Better Places to Visit in the World
from namsan
We arrived at the hotel after a 10 hour flight at 7.30am in the morning. When we arrived we were told that our rooms were not ready and to go for some breakfast. This was OK at the beginning as we understood that the rooms needed to be cleaned. However, 5.5hrs later we were still stuck in reception waiting for a room, not being able to shower or change and feeling very dirty. The overall welcome to the hotel was very poor. When we complained about the treatment and asked how long we had to wait the so called Front of House Manager, Basil was so rude and unhelpfull it was inconceivable. When we eventually checked in to the room at 1.15pm the room was right next to a sewerage pipe which left a rotten eggs smell in the bathroom. The walls were disgusting with mould forming on them. (we are actually writing this from Goa and will upload pictures we have taken once we get back to England......Only 16 hours to go!) During the stay the music at Breakfast was like entering a disco it is so loud you can not even hear each other speak. The breakfast is very poor and the service was very poor. Every morning you had to ask for toast and the staff were never on the look out to help they are more interested in clearing the tables than looking after the guests. As for the cooked breakfast I have never seen Indian food like it! If you come just make sure you can eat eggs least you can have an omlette! The pool looks very nice from the brochures but these have certainly been airbrushed. The pool is in need of some major work with scum film completely covering the walls of the pool and the overflow drains are filthy. The rooms are not serviced till very late in the day and sometimes only when we were coming back at 5pm after a day at the pool. The bar at the hotel is what I can only discribe as being franchised out to two English guys. During the stay we became friendly with a couple from LIverpool and decied one night we would have a game of doubles at pool. During the night the locals started to cause problems over the use of the table and in the end it became very heated. As holidaymakers staying at the hotel we were made to leave rather than non residents as they did not want to upset the local trade as it was come to the end of the season. The locals were intimidating and looking down the top of our friends girlfriend. All in all there are better places to visit for a holiday. Goa is a cheap option if you are on a tight budget but believe me spend a liitle bit more and go somewhere different or stay closer to home and have a truly memberable stay in a more upmarket hotel. If you do decide to come though I would highly recommend the Lemon Tree in Candolim we looked at transferring there as the Paradise Village is herendous. If you do come to Goa though don't expect a lot. Trips are few and far between with anything decent being 3 days away. You would be best just getting a flight and travelling the area staying at different places or you end up paying for a hotel room you never use. Good look if you decide to come to Goa you will need it. India is one of those destinations I can say I have been to but would never contemplate coming back to!
paradise village was paraise

stayed at paradise village calangute for 2 weeks in february, had an excellent time, great location, right on beach and a short walk from the hustle and bustle of calangute. The staff at paradise were all very friendly and helpful, rooms were of a good standard for goa, and cleaned every day and also clean towels every day, always made into different shapes. The restaurant by reception is worth trying, good food and cheap. If you go to mandarim beach for day, beware of restaurant staff trying to sell you "fresh fish" for lunch, we felt we were conned as we ordered the prawns and they came with no shells on, and they do not tell you the price! Back in calangute plenty of good places to eat very reasonable, for an after dinner drink try the log cabin english pub! Can't wait to go back again 2
No complaints!!!

A party of eleven of us stayed at the paradise village for two weeks. Just got back. Had a great time. Had been worried after seeing previous reports but, having been to Goa 10 times, this hotel was just fine. Friendly staff, good location, NO COCKROACHES TO BE SEEN!, one of the best breakfasts we have had in Goa and a good time had by all. Admittedly some of the rooms are small (we had a sneaky look!), but ours were just fine. The pool area could do with a refurb but we've seen much worse. The air conditioned pub on site is run by english and was fun. If you're going to Goa and you've not been before just remember it's a third world country and standards are not the same as much of europe and the USA. Go with an open mind and enjoy the experience. If you want luxury, opt for a five star plus hotel.
Paradise Village - Great hotel!!

Stayed at Paradise Village 3rd Jan for 2 weeks. I agree with a lot of people that you definately need to go to Goa with an open mind and hotel standards certainly are not on the same level as Europe, however as long as it is clean that is the main thing. This hotel is located about 5 mins walk from the main road of Calangute, however great bars and restaurants are right outside of the hotel. The hotel itself was excellent, our room was a standard one and therefore very small, if you pay the extra for an upgrade the rooms are much much bigger! romm was very clean, and cleaned daily, the bathroom was new, facilties included a minibar and tv with about 50 channels showing all prem football. The hotel grounds were fantastic, constantly being clened and the gardens being attended to. There is a tailors, beauticians and jewellers on site. There are 2 restaurants and an air conditioned pub on site, and also a pool bar that served food, however it was the same menu throughout but there was so much choice on this and very cheap. We ate lunch most days at the hotel, and a couple of evening meals and the food was superb. The service at this hotel was second to none, especially around the pool where the staff could not do enough for us and made sure we never wanted for anything! To get to the beach there is a private walkway which leads to a great beach shack, Jolly Boys which was great, again great service and food. Overall I would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone visiting Goa, you will not be dissappointed
Great Hotel

my friend and i stayed at the Paradise Village for 2 weeks in late Nov early Dec. We enjoyed every minute of our stay the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly especially the pool boys. Our room was cleaned every day and they always tidied everything away for us and stocked the minibar every day also. The pool was lovely and the food and drinks round the pool were excellent. We went bed and breakfast and this was always fully stocked and you could eat as much as we liked. The hotel restaurant food wasn't anything to write home about but other than that i would stay at this resort again.
poor standard of rooms!!
from tomy72
i booked a different resort from an indian website but they then convinced us to take up this paradise village beach resort, came in at night and immediately saw the bare state of the rooms, not at all finished properly, just the base essentials and chairs, there was a moulty feel to the room, as we went in august and there was the rains, my wife immediately said no, she is not putting up with this, when we asked if they have a different room, the front office lads were looking wonderstuck!! this made us decide to walk out immediately to a different hotel.........the indian hotel staff do not know what 3 star means, quality is just not there.
Truly a Paradise

Roger Kapoor, Excellent location, you step outside your room and your on the beach...the staff is extremely friendly and very accomodating. The food was also pretty good and very afforable...the rooms were very spacious and very room had a terrace which I thought gave you a feeling of openness ....

Mr. & Mrs. Bose, Kolkata, India. Suddenly the idea of Goa tour striked & without having any advice, only through searching net we collected the information. The reply was so comfortable compare to others, that we decided to book. Location is fantastic, 2 mins walk to sea through private beach access, just 4-5 mins walk.from Calangute main market & hence not crowed. Ideal for honeymoon couple. Hotel was totally sold out but no relaxation in hospitality , same importance was given to foreigners & Indians. Tours & every details taken care by resort, just one need to approach. Food quality was good. Thanks and good wishes to Mr. Waren Vaz, GM and his team. Rates are reasonable & spending money is worthy. Definitely highly recommendable.
wouldnt stay there again
from kezzababes1
we stayed at paradise village, calangute, in april for 2 weeks. We had no end of problems with cockroaches. We had to change rooms 3 times. The final room we where in a studio, this wasnt too bad but the cockroaches still managed to come in from outside under the front door. I suggest that if you do go stay there that you dont have a suite because thats where most of the problems came from but be aware that they can still come under your door in any other apartment. The weather was nice and hot a little humid on days but other wise good. The pool is nice and the staff are very friendly. The location is great its just a shame about the accomodation. You dont really want to eat there either the food isnt very good. Breakfast is very basic eggs and a few indian dishes.
poor room standards

We have just returned from a 2 week trip to goa, this is my 8th time to goa,we stayed in the paradise village hotel in calangute.there where 5 of us in all - so we had 2 rooms . Let me be honest and tell you from day one we changed rooms 3 times because they where infested with cock roaches i even had one fall on my forhead as i slept, the rooms are so discusting iwill never stay there again.we have made a full report to thomas cook. Its a shame really because the hotel as a good swimming pool and as a good location near the beach.but my advise is sleep with the light on because every room we slept in had them. And we flew with monarch airlines and they where great -on time -and we had plenty of legroom.

What a nightmare stay we had here. Reception staff were very obnoxious and rude, as soon as we arrived, and it was very late, we asked if there was somewhere we could go to get some food, and was told "its late" and he walked off!! When we were shown our room, we saw that... more
