The best way to reach this hotel is by Airport Hotel Shuttle bus which delivers you and your baggage straight to its doors.
The return journey must be booked with the hotel concierge a minimum of two hours before the desired departure time (the schedule is available at his desk or at reception, and the service runs hourly until quite late). The cost was 130 HKD.
The alternative is a the Express train to the Hong Kong Terminal and then a taxi, or a taxi directly from the airport.
The hotel is most luxurious and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Never once in our week there did we have to open or close the hotel door - it was all done for us. The concierge hailed you a taxi while you waited in the cool of the hotel. Baggage was totally handled by the concierge.
The reception is on the first floor, reached by escalator, though the concierge can give you access to a lift if required. Check in was swift and each guest was immediately given a free drink coupon useable for the duration of his stay. Our room was on the 21st floor. It had enormous floor to ceiling glass windows giving a wide side view of Victoria harbour, and it was lovely to lay in bed in the morning watching the ferries, sanpans, and liners passing by. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided, and an iron and ironing board was quickly delivered when requested by phone to housekeeping.
Everything required was provided in the bath room, from shampoo, conditioner and bath foam, to a comb and toothbrush and toothpaste. Use any and it was replaced the next morning. The bed was enormous, akin to an American King size. Fresh bedding and towelling was supposedly asked for by leaving the towels in the tub and by placing a disc provided upon your pillow. In practice though we were given both fresh every day.
Some might say on other websites that the bedrooms were small but they were adequate for any normal couples' needs, and certainly nowhere as small as some hotels provide. Our package was room only but we took both the breakfast buffet and the lunch buffet, both of which were reasonably priced and gave fantastic value.
There is a gymnasium and an outdoor pool at the podium level, but the pool was very cold during our visit. Changing rooms were available nearby, operated by your room card.
The situation is perhaps a little out of the main life of Hong Kong, and the nearest underground station was quite distant, though only a 15HKD (less than £1) taxi ride away.
This got you quickly over to Kowloon and the main street market areas by changing trains at Central. The tube cost was 11HKD each, and there was even a discount fare for concessionaries such as students or pensioners.
Close to the hotel were local shops, interesting even just to browse in and, if Chinese food did not suit, a McDonalds was available only two streets away, where the famous trams were also available.
Gray Line Tours picked you up from the hotel for each of their excellent value tours apart from the one visiting the New Territories, when the pickup point was at City Hall, a short taxi ride away. Do not miss their tour to Shekou and Guangzou in China, for which they arrange you your free Chinese visa, a saving of £30 over getting your own in London, and obviating all the cost and hassle of getting to their Embassy twice before 11am. You travel out by fast ferry and return by Chinese Express Train, a comfortable experience which may make you think even more about our own system.
This was a lovely and very friendly hotel providing great comfort, value, and very friendly and accommodating staff. We went as a family and would definitely choose this hotel for our next stay.

I love this hotel - I've stayed there all three times that I have visted Hong Kong, despite having friends there who offer to put me up for nothing, and am planning to stay there again later this year. It isn't the most centrally located hotel - but Sheung Wan MTR isn't too far a walk away and if you walk for two minutes you can catch a tram. I used to enjoy walking into Central from the hotel - it takes 25 minutes and the sights and sounds you experience are worth it. Hollywood Road and the Man Mo Temple are less than 10 minutes walk away - and the hotel is slap bang in the middle of seafood street and herbal medicine street. The staff at the hotel are fantastic - and unless you want to pay around £200 a night, you need to expect smaller rooms in Hong Kong - space is at a premium! That said, the rooms are big enough for two people with TV, aircon, fridge (I would visit the park 'n' shop up the road and keep my own water and drinks in the fridge) free safe, great views of the harbour - although don't be fooled into expecting glimpses of the Star Ferry - it's much further along than the central pier so you might get to glimpse the HK - Macau ferry. The pool is freezing but great to wake you up in the morning and there is also free use of the internet in the bar (and at all branches of Pacific Coffee around Hong Kong - and it's air conditioned) I found that booking the room through British Airways is often cheaper than the rates they offer directly - but it's always worth checking. I love Hong Kong and I love the Island Pacific - can't wait to go back!
