One of our best holidays ever

Aug 2011, The Graham's

Just come back from our holiday and it was brilliant. Accommodation (wave rider) was excellent with a big LCD TV, Good location near the sea front, but best of all was the wonderful and professional night time entertainment put on by the crew. Kids loved it, even the dog had a great time. I would defiantly recommend this park.

Me and my family stayed in the Casita Lodge- which was superb.Big bedrooms, ensuite, bathroom with bath and shower, big dining area and lounge with verada. Okay the double bed was abit squeaky but apart from that it was very clean and spacious. Lots of storage space for your luggage. There was plenty of lights and the televisions had been updated to big plasma ones. The park was great, very safe and lots to play on for the kids. We didn't visit the sportsground or club so can not comment on them. The swimming pools we big with 4 different areas, the changing room was small but can easily get changed where your staying. Reception staff were friendly. Outside the park there was lots to do. Pubs, a fair, amusements, shops and beach. A half an hour walk to dawlish. It's a very quiet, calming and great holiday for everyone.

Never ever again

Arrived on sat, got into caravan at 4pm to be greeted by a soaking wet carpet that smelt of dog urine! Obviously been wet cleaned which made it worse and the smell was horrific!!! Complained and was offered only other caravan available!! Which was only marginally better!!!! So thought ce la vie get on with it! Decided to go to the pool the next day, the changing facilities are non existent with a small cupboard size communal changing room, no thanks!!! Trudged back to the caravan and turned on the shower jumped in FREEZING COLD !! Complained again to be told the cistern tank only holds 15 litres of hot water!!! So showering is a no go!! Entertainment and facilities basic think hi di hi back in the 70,s and you would be near the Mark!!! Lovely area but would never stay on this site again in my life it's like a time warp needs to be brought into this century my advice would be stay on a bigger more reputable site where you know what you are going to get! This place is considerably cheaper but sadly that pretty much describes it CHEAP!!! Go elsewhere you have been warned !!!!

This was our first visit to the Welcome. Having been to Haven for the last 5 years we thought we would give this one a try and really glad we did. We stayed at one of the new Casafina Lodges which were out of this world with flat screen tv and dvd player, high spec kitchen, beautiful bathroom and bedrooms, the master being en suite. There really was plenty of room and worth that little bit extra. The entertainment was excellent, the 2011 team really do work hard putting on fantastic shows and getting everyone involved. The food is good and there is an amusement arcade off the main entertainment room where it is safe to let your kids spend their 2ps. The kids loved the pools, the crazy golf and play areas. The area surrounding the park is great and it's worth a wander out to the Warren and the Boathouse just for a ride on the Go Karts. And it is very handy for the train station.

We have been going here for the past 14 years, very clean park, always had a caravan and have never had a problem with them always clean and fresh bed linen any problems and the maintenance are there in a flash, reception staff very helpful and polite, swimming pool very safe and well maintained at all times, plenty of places to visit in the surrounding areas, beach a short walk with few shops, bar restaurant, amusements and small fair, entertainment on site is excellent we enjoy the entertainment year after year, if you are looking for a good clean family holiday in devon then its certainly worth a visit..................... :)

Great Value for Money

We have stayed at the welcome holiday park for the last 3 years. It's a great base to explore the south devon coast. The site is quite small but has enough to keep the kids happy for a few hours at night. We like to get out and about on holiday so most days we would drive to other resorts. You can catch a train from dawlish warren to Torquay or paignton, saves taking the car. The site is a 10 minute walk from Dawlish warren resort, where there is a small fair with dodgems & go karting, a good pub on the sea front with indoor kids soft play area & a few shops, fish & chips, a bakery, chinese & a small supermarket. The only thing the site lacks is an outside terrace area, with would be nice to sit outside on a summers evening.
The entertainment is ok for the kids my 2 boys 3 & 7 enjoyed for a couple of hours.
All in all if you want a base to explore all the devon coast that doesnt cost a fortune this is it.
Every year the caravans we have stopped in (Bronze) have been clean & tidy cant complain for the money.

Wish there was an outdoor pool with slides etc

We have stayed here several times over the years and always have a great holiday. We have stayed in a 2 bed chalet which was great if there are only 4 of you but too cramped if you need to use the sofa bed, which was the most uncomfortable thing in the world to sleep or sit on. IN last couple of years we have stayed in a casita which is great. Lots of space to spread out plenty of room for everyone to do their own thing, from 74 year old grandma to boistrous primary age kids. The casita is much more expensive but you do get what you pay for.
My only complaints about the park are the limited opening times of the pool and launderette and the lack of outdoor pool complex. We are considering looking for a different park that has an outdoor pool complex with slides etc. The gorunds are maintained beautifully but feel an update of facilities could be beneficial.
Overall this is a great family orientated park and the security at the club in the evening is excellent and allows parents to relax knowing their children are safe and can not "escape" or come to any harm while the adults enjoy a drink or dinner. The entertainment team are excellent and work very hard to help everyone enjoy their stay. ALL of the staff are friendly and helpful and this includes bar, cleaners, amusement man, reception staff, everyone but especially the staff at welcome bite who will specially prepare food for people with life threatening allergies. (Kev is my sons total hero).

Been going here for about fifteen years but probably wont go again, the park is excellent, the caravans are fine but the entertainment is really going downhill, It used to be really good but now it seems to be all bingo and people playing silly games and making fools of themselves with a short show at the end of the night, the shows are as good as ever but dont normally start until after 10 and finish at 11, the main part of the night is taken up with bingo.
The park is excellent and a very good location for a base when travelling around Devon with a train station just down the road you dont really need to use your car.
The village has a couple of shops and a couple of nice pubs with reasonably priced meals all within walking distance.

Welcome Family Holiday park is a...

Jun 2008, Mr M J Jackson

Welcome Family Holiday park is a fantastic place to go.
One of the best holiday parks we have stayed at for a long time and we will be going again.
We stayed in a "Villa" called Casita which was very spacious. 3 bedrooms, dining area Kitchen and living room. Veranda perfect for sitting out in the sun. Shower room also had a bath and the naster bedroom allso had ensuit toilet.
There were 4 adults and 2 children.
The beach is only a 5 minute walk away but it was a shingle beach.
There are lots of places to visit but, it is best that you have a car. The local pubs are very reasonable on prices and very welcoming too.
The only problem with the actual site was that there isn't much for young kids to do except go to the pools which is fantastic and well maintained.
We will be booking again for 2009.
Just like to add. My Father in law said he would like to go again which is the first time i have heard him say this. So it must be a good place lol.
