If you are looking for a quiet, totally relaxing holiday I can thoroughly recommend these apartments in Balos.
The resort consists of just a few apartments, a small hotel, and half a dozen restaurants.
The Tia apartments themselves are well appointed and spotlessly clean. Although the complex is tiny, it has its own pool and a bar which is open from late morning to about 8pm, serving drinks and snacks.
The pebbly beach is immediately across the road and sunbeds and umbrellas are available. There is practically no traffic as the road peters out at a restaurant at the end of the beach.
There is no shop, but a bakers' van visited every morning and periodically a fruit and veg van also appeared. Other groceries could be ordered from the apartments' owners for delivery the next day.
The owners, Tia and Yiannis were very welcoming and did everything to ensure that our holiday was everything we could wish for, including arranging boat trips etc.
This is not a location suitable for youngsters as there is absolutely no nightlife: the evening entertainment consists of strolling to one of the restaurants and enjoying local produce freshly picked/caught and then watching the sun set over the sea.
This is the perfect place to forget about work/home and just RELAX.
If you can raise the energy and if your stay is longer than a week, I would recommend hiring a car to see the rest of this delightful island which as yet is relatively underdeveloped.
I would also recommend Cachet Travel, whose brochure/website was accurate and informative, the staff on the telephone charming and their representative on the island excellent.
